Madness That Dances Under the Moon

A strange man pestered a young boy, “You look bored, do you wish to hear of the time when gods would walk upon the mortal plane? The story of Madness that Dances Under the Moon?” “Uh? No? Ah wait please!! Don’t leave!! Just a bit of your time!!!” The man pleaded. “I’m not giving you money.” The boy said. “No, no! It’s fine I don’t need money! Just listen to my story!” The man said, frantically trying to convince the boy. “What the hell? Ask someone else.” The boy looked at the man warily. “And let me tell you this, if you try to kidnap me, I’m very sick in the head, so I might just go crazy.” “I’m not going to kidnap you! Really, I just want you to listen to me!” The man said. “Ok, maybe I believe you, but why me of all people?!” The boy asked, flabbergasted at the man’s conviction in making him stay. “Well, Erm. I can see it in you!! Your aura and personality! Your looks!! It has to be you!” The man explained. The boy looked at the the crazy man. Who would be insane enough to follow a random crazy? ‘I am.’ The boy thought.

Ironic

That night, the god went outside and found their lover gazing at the moon in awe. The god sat down next to them in silence. The god brought the abomination into an embrace.

"Hm? What is it honey?" They asked. The god was silent, and only felt the warmth of their lover. The abomination was confused at their silence, so it looked up to the moon.

Clarity, all was clear. "My love, I'm sorry. You've changed..", the god finally spoke, "My love for you is not wavering, I assure you. But it feels as if I've done something I wasn't supposed to. You've been acting strangely ever since you were cured, and it's only gotten worse. Do you feel strange?"

The god looked up at their lover, but their gaze still rested on the moon. "I-I must tell you something honey…" The abomination said in a quiet tone.

"My sickness, I'm not sure how you cured it, but I'm sure that you went to great lengths. But now that you've cured me, I'm afraid I've only gotten sicker." The god's eyes widened, "That doesn't make sense! What do you mean?"

With their gaze still on the moon, the abomination took in a breath. "I'm going mad, my emotions, my thoughts and senses, my feelings.. they've all been infected, I'm going crazy… This might not make much sense, but I was never supposed to be cured. In fact this disease shouldn't even exist."

"W-What do you mean… by that?" The god's lip trembled. "This disease I have can only infect one person at a time, I am the second to be sick with it. It's a strange sickness, I could have lived my life without even knowing I had it…."

"But you know what's ironic?" The abomination chuckled.

They took their gaze off of the moon, "I am the god of all that is felt and experienced. I am the god of emotions and satisfaction."
