CHAPTER 12

"You're telling me she hasn't been seen in weeks?" My voice cut through the air like a blade.

The private investigator sitting across from me shuffled uncomfortably, his gaze darting to the floor. "It's not that simple, Mr. Julian. She's been keeping a low profile. We've tracked her to a corporate office, J. Holdings, but she's been difficult to approach without drawing attention."

J. Holdings. The name alone made my blood run cold. Jasper's domain. My fists clenched involuntarily, the veins in my arms tightening as anger surged through me.

"And she's working there?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, though it carried enough venom to make the investigator flinch.

"Yes, sir," he confirmed hesitantly. "We believe she's been in contact with Jasper directly."

I shot to my feet, the chair screeching loudly against the polished floor. "Of course she has. That snake doesn't miss an opportunity to sink his claws into someone vulnerable."
