Chapter 9 : Three Years

"Xiao Ruo" Xu Rong called her.

"Yes, dad"

That woman is Xu Zhiruo.

"It's been three years. You've been training day and night for a whole three years. Don't you feel suffocated?" he asked her with a hurt expression.

This daughter of his had simply been tormenting herself. She had never rest once as she train day and night. When he asked her to rest, she always replied him with the same answer.

"No dad, I'm not strong enough yet" she replied

He has told her multiple times that she did not have to do that, they have the top  guards to protect them. Moreover, she could train in a proper way, balancing her training time with her rest time.

But no matter how or who is it, Xu Zhiruo never listened to them.

"Haih, Xiao Ruo, in the whole MC Island, I'm afraid only the top Assassin from the royalty could compare to you right now. You're strong enough now. Why don't you listened to my word this time and rest? Hmm?"

"..."

Listen to that sincere word from her father made her quiet for a while.

Indeed, she had been working too hard and didn't have enough rest this whole three years. But still, her instinct told her there's someone out there, someone dangerous, and she need to be the strongest to be able to protect her family.

That nightmare of hers, where her whole family was murdered, she won't let that happen. That's what she promised to herself.

"I'll think about it, dad"

"Alright"

Think about it was better than a direct rejection.

Returned to her room from Xu Rong's study, Xu Zhiruo collapsed on her bad.

"Should I take a break from everything?" She mumbled to herself.

"What dad said made sense, I'm currently ranked just second from the top assassin of the palace."

She kept mumbling until she thought of something.

"Ah, should I ask Yingyue for her opinion?"

After saying that, she changed out her training suit into something more comfortable and drove to the Mengs.

"Welcome lady Xu"

Along the way, the maid greeted her which she replied with a nod.

Upon arriving in front of Meng Yingyue's room, she directly entered without knocking.

"Wake up Yingyue, you lazy girl"

Xu Zhiruo opened the curtains, letting in the sunlight making Meng Yingyue curled deeper into the blankets.

To pull off her blanket, the former only need one hand. While the latter was strong enough, she had just woke up so it brings advantage to the former.

"Arghhh... Little Ruo! What are you doing here so early?!" Meng Yingyue complained with her eyes closed.

"What early? It's almost noon" Xu Zhiruo turned to the couch and took a sit.

"Still, what are you looking for me for?"

"I'm considering to take a break from training, so I came here to take advice from you regarding that"

Hearing that, Meng Yingyue's eyes shot opened.

"REALLY?!"

"Oh, I mean yes you should take a break. Your body needs a rest after all"

"Yes indeed, I guess? But what should I do? It'll be boring to stay at home doing nothing"

Touching her chin, Xu Zhiruo looked up to her.

"Don't stay at home then"

Meng Yingyue got up from the bed and sat at the couch beside her.

"What do you think about going out of the island?"

Saying that, an evil smile could be seen on Meng Yingyue's face.

"Are you sure it's for my good and not because you wanted to go out?" She peeked at her.

"Err... no! I'm definitely saying this to help you"

Raising her brow, Xu Zhiruo stare at her in disbelief.

"Aiya, trust me, little Ruo. Let's just leave this island and go out. I think Country C is a good idea. After all, you've been there before and perhaps it could bring back some of your memories?"

After she bring that up, the room fell into silence.

It's been three years, but Xu Zhiruo still haven't remember what happened exactly.

"Yingyue, could you please tell me what I told you about the country C before I lose my memories?"

"Ah, you wanted to hear?"

"Yes" she answered in a firm tone.

"Well, it's not much. You only told me it was pretty when the night came. There'll be lights all over the city. Anyway, you said it was a scene that could not be seen here in MC Island. Other than that, you only told me about that handsome brother of yours.

You said you met him when he was attacked in the amusement park. When you wanted to send him to the hospital, he firmly told you he did not want to go there until he finally passed out. Then you brought him back to the villa you stayed in. You spent a week with him there and became really close. Oh, and you told me that you left him your... ughh what is it again? Ahh I've forgotten about it. Anyway that's all"

"Then, do you know his name?"

"Nope, you told me you didn't ask for his name" Meng Yingyue replied as she shook her head.

"I see...

But I thought you said I told you the story for more than a week? How can it be so short then?" Xu Zhiruo asked her in confusion.

Blinking her eyes, Meng Yingyue replied as the matter of fact "Yes, you've finished telling me the story in less than a day but you kept repeating the part about your handsome brother everyday that it makes me hard to forget about it"

"I... really did that?" Could not believe what she did in the past, she asked again to make sure.

"Of course darling. Now, you go back to your house and think about it thoroughly. Whether you wanted to go or not, give me an answer by tonight. Just to let you know, I'll always be with you" gripping Xu Zhiruo's shoulder, she gave her a hug.

"Thanks, Yingyue" she hugged her back.

Xu Zhiruo's really grateful to have a friend like Meng Yingyue. Although she's sometimes childish or annoying, when Xu Zhiruo needs help, she'll always be there for her.
