Opulent to the core

Nyx's POV

I walked with the maid which was not so tall. Her brown hair was made in a tight bun and her soft hazel eyes were fixed on the floor, maybe that was what she was asked to do. She seemed extremely young and I wonder why she would be a maid. She's meant to be schooling or something.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

"I'm Lia, your highness"

Lia.

I actually like that name. For some odd reason, I felt like she was a good person. It was like I could sense what she was.

She must be an uneducated maid because normally, a maid is meant to stay before or behind a royal or highly respected person but she was standing right beside and I didn't see any harm in it.

"Have you met anyone with the name Alicia?" I asked her.

She turned to her side to look at me, her brows knitted together.

"I have, your highness" She said.

"Where is she?"

"She is one of the maids that was matched with me to take care of you, your highness. She is currently in Prince Lukyan's quarters, waiting for us to arrive"

Her eyes went back to being glued to the floor.

Silence reigned between us until we got to a huge brown door which had a dragon engraved on it. The dragon was bigger than the one on the door to the King's throne room, this dragon was frightening. It even moved making my eyes go wide and my breathing coming out in pants but it seemed like I was the only one that noticed it move. It's claw moved and I am sure that was not an illusion.

What's going on with me? What's all this?

We stepped into the room and my brows went up at the exquisiteness of the room.

My eyes scanned the wholeness of the extremely room that about, fifty people could be contained in. Fifty seems small though, a hundred or two.

The room was opulent to the core, if it was left for me to describe. There was a four-poster bed in the bedroom and the vertical columns which were a faint gold color, were holding up a canopy which was a dark, bloody red in color. The bedding of the mattress which could contain at least five people, was plush and from the looks of it very comfortable. The sumptuous looking bedding had gold thread embedded on it, with an intricate design all over it.

The floor was covered in a red carpet which was soft as I stepped on it. I looked over to the other end of the room and saw a seating area which had chairs that were a combination of black and red, having a table before them that was made of wood and painted in a faint gold color.

At the other end of the room was a dressing table with a huge mirror hanging there. The dressing table was a surprising purple color and made the room more exquisite. It had a little fire place that was not lit though. The curtains which were a radiant gold color, danced with the wind and one of them revealed a balcony at the other side of it.

To top off the luxuriant room was a candle chandelier, lighting up the room with other lamps and candles. The room was really bright with sunlight seeping through into it.

"I'll be staying here?" I asked the both of them.

"Yes" Alicia said with a ghost if a smile on her pale face, she knew exactly what I was thinking.

This place is like heaven compared to the rooms back at our mansion. Antronia is the strongest, largest and richest country in our continent.

"Oh my goodness, this can't be real"

I walked to touch the bedding and the softness of it graced my hand.

"Where do the other two doors lead to?" I asked.

There were two other doors apart from the one we came through.

"One of them is your boudoir and the other is the prince's private room"

He has a private room and I do too? That's better because it won't be easy staying here, with him, on the same bed, sleeping together....No!

-------------

I was currently in my boudoir. The my handmaids, Lia and Alicia helped me out if that huge and uncomfortable dress and now, I'm putting on a pink night dress.

I had not seen Lucian since we came back from the wedding but, I actually think it is for the better. I was not ready to face him and call him my husband, not now maybe not ever.

I drank water as I had just finished my meal and walked to the single bed that was in the boudoir.

I took a book and pen and started writing. I loved writing poems, one of the things I learnt to love when I was away. My pen stroked the surface of the book and then, a knock sounded at the door of my boudoir. I got up and walked to go open the door and my black eyes met with gold ones.

"My Lord?"
