City M
Eh!?
Gretta screamed in fear and moved excitedly in the customer's arms, while the customer was silent with a pounding heart again.
"Huwee…, ghost, where's the ghost!"
Instantly the customer's consciousness returned and saw what was happening with a sudden burst of laughter. Until Gretta, who was still closing her eyes and moving excitedly, suddenly fell silent, she also immediately released her arms and then beat the customer who was laughing out loud.
Ha-ha-ha…
"Hey! You tricked me huh? Tell me, you liar!"
Gretta angrily smacked the arm of the customer who was laughing harder and harder. In fact, she was already afraid if the ghost was really there and was beside her.
She had a heart attack, but the unnamed customer was happy to laugh at her reaction.
That sucks, Gretta thought irritably.
Laughter was still flowing freely, this customer really didn't know that spelling someone could be this fun. The reason is, he was recently close to a woman in a sense and even to the point of spelling out someone like this.
Gretta finally stopped from hitting, looking away with her hands crossed to her chest. "Annoying, I'll give you cyanide when you order coffee. Remember that."
"Gosh, how evil. Who said ghosts anyway," he snorted.
"We said there was a shadow and you were evil. I almost had a heart attack, just so you know," said Gretta, glaring at the customer, who chuckled again.
"You beautiful but evil-
" Ah! You admit I'm beautiful. Ha-ha-ha…, huh! I'm beautiful," interrupted Gretta laughing happily as she tossed her hair like a beauty queen.
She even forgot, being annoyed with the nameless customer.
The customer was secretly cursing his mouth that came off open. How can he praise a woman openly, especially being close like this without any awkwardness at all.
"Yes you are beautiful, if you look at it from the far end over there. Miss is very confident," he sneered sarcastically.
"Tsk! You don't want to admit it. Words that have been spoken, can't be swallowed back," said Gretta, making a mocking face at the customer.
The two of them argued with each other, until finally the bus stop where Gretta got off. The bus stopped and the customer stood up, with Gretta with her back to him walking towards the door was in.
"Hey! Gretta!" called the customer, so Gretta turned around but only her face.
"What?"
"My name is-
"Miss! Can you come down quickly?"
"O-Oke! Sorry to interrupt, Sir," Gretta said then left the customer after saying bye. "See you tomorrow, bye!"
And the door closed, leaving the customer who could only be silent. However, the customer quickly looked out the window and found Gretta walking with a man, who slung a coat over her shoulder.
His hands clenched in annoyance, while his heart did not accept when he saw a man who was also concerned with Gretta who was secretly occupying a corner of his heart.
"You don't even know the name," he whispered sadly.
To the next day…
Gretta sat in front of her bedroom makeup mirror with a sad face, remembering last night's events when she got home.
She did not expect that her grandmother and mother were still waiting for her in the living room. At first, she thought they were worried about her or at least she was scolded for coming home late. However, this was worse than just being scolded much worse.
Keh! What did she expect from those two women? Hoping to get a welcome hug? Do not dream.
Gretta lifted her face and looked at her rounded eyelids. Last night she couldn't sleep, she was furious when she thought about her matchmaking plan with the biggest real estate entrepreneur in this city.
Someone whose age was far from her and that made her immediately refuse, but with a slap she accepted.
Even today still remembers what her grandmother said at that time, who vilified her father before marrying her mother.
"Don't be like your mother who chose your poor father. Sooner or later, you will marry him."
Gretta didn't want to have a husband like this. Moreover, she still wants to enjoy her youth and reach her dreams first.
She didn't feel her tears falling again, her hands quickly wiped and her own face immediately looked up there, hoping that the aftershocks would not come out.
"No, you can't be weak like this," she muttered to herself.
She reached for the concealer and put it under her eyelids. A Gretta must not have a blemish on her face, she must remain standing with her chin up and not look weak.
After feeling her face finished with makeup, especially the black eye area that was completely closed, Gretta stood up from her seat and took the bag and binder containing her lecture notes for the day.
She came out of the room and found her tumultuous family still at the dining table, when she was usually alone eating breakfast in this spacious dining room.
"Good morning."
"Morning, sit down," said and ordered the grandmother—Karina, while her gaze remained on the bread she had smeared with salt butter.
Gretta sat quietly, not making a sound at all. Even though her mother who was sitting opposite her glanced at her with an unreadable gaze, she still sat up straight and nodded as a maid placed a glass of milk for her.
The atmosphere at the dining table was quiet and heavy, the rows of maids waiting for their masters to finish eating even could only look down. Then Gretta, she slowly started to take the bread that she had spread with sugar apple jam.
The fork and knife in her hands cut the bread with classy movements, not to mention that her straight back then began to feed the bread into her mouth, chewing without making a sound at all.
"This afternoon there will be a lunch together at a downtown restaurant. Randie will pick you up, change at the boutique with the dress Grandma chose. Then, we'll talk about marriage."
Thump!
Gretta's chewing stopped for a moment, she stared intently at the piece of bread on her plate and was about to cry, if only her mother's voice hadn't been heard after that.
"Mom, can you wait until Gretta-
"Don't interfere. This is between me and my granddaughter, you should just watch and make sure Gretta is worthy of meeting her future husband's family."
Esmeriana was silent with her mouth open. Her intention was to prevent it from being useless, if she had knocked on the hammer. Until finally she was only able to nod and stare at her child with a look.
She does hate her daughter, but as a mother she still has a conscience.
"Do you understand. Gretta?" Karina continued staring at Gretta who could only nod a little. "Hurry up and go to college, remember what I said." Again the command sounded and Gretta was forced to stand up from her seat, then left the table with a broken feeling.
Why is my life like this?
