46 Reckless

Yitian was sure he was red all over his body. His heart was beating so fast. He was so startled by the sudden closeness he had with Chao.

They drove out of the underground garage and got on the way. Chao was smiling, knowing what's going on, but Yitian was confused.

"Now, will you tell me?" he asked Chao, dying from curiosity. Where was Chao taking him? He basically kidnapped him. Yitian laughed.

"Nope, you have to wait till we get there," Chao said and focused on the driving. The driver he pulled behind was driving pretty aggressively, stepping on the brakes suddenly, then speeding away fast, again and again.

"Be careful." Yitian saw that and was a bit frightened by the reckless behavior. He knew that Chao's mom died in the car accident and this was frightening for him.

At one interception Chao was extremely quick to brake because the car stopped suddenly. He stepped on the brakes, the car jerked, and threw both Yitian and Chao forward. The sound of honk could be heard from behind them.

Yitian was so shocked, his heart was beating so fast and his chest was hurting. He looked down to see what happened and he saw Chao's hand on his chest.

Chao was quick to act when he saw the car breaking in front of him, he stepped on the brakes and threw his hand on the side, guarding Yitian against flying too much forward. He was so afraid for his safety, it nearly gave him a heart attack.

"Are you okay?" Chao asked shocked, breathing heavily. Yitian had his eyes widened, but he remained calm.

"Sure. I'm okay." He smiled at Chao and breathed out. He looked in front at the careless driven who was still standing there.

Chao had enough he took his seat belt off and marched to the driver's side. He angrily knocked on the window.

"Man, the fuck you want?!" the driver said lazily and totally poshy. Chao's eyebrows raised, he wasn't used to people like this. It's been a long time since he met someone entitled.

"Can you please stop driving so recklessly? You can easily cause an accident," Chao said politely. He didn't want to fight, he just didn't want any car accident to happen.

"Oh, man, if you can't drive your car then fuckoff. I have no time to spare!" the driver said and pulled up the window.

Angry Chao strode back to his car and forcefully put his seat belt back on. He rode off fast when the green appeared and he was grabbing the wheel so hard his white knuckles could be seen.

Yitian put his hand on Chao's shoulder. He had to calm him down. So, he patted him to get his attention and then caressing it.

"Calm down. Nothing happened. We are okay. I'm here." Yitian said and smiled when Chao turned to him. The rest of the way was okay. But Chao was still mildly shocked.

They arrived sooner than Yitian expected and he was more shocked about the place where they stopped. It was their high school gate.

Yitian put away the seatbelt and as in a dream got out of the car. Those memories were flooding his mind when he looked behind the gate at the school building. They were all bad. He wanted to end his life here. He turned around to face Chao but he was shoved a flower right under his nose.

"Happy anniversary." Chao laughed when he saw the confused look on Yitian's face.

"What anniversary?" Yitian was searching in his memory but he had no idea. Or maybe?

"We met today, here, right?" he smiled, seeing Chao's happy nodding face. Yitian took the bouquet of flowers. Yellow and white roses and lavender. It was so beautiful.

"You didn't have to do this. I'm not a woman. Even I forgot about it." Yitian said.

"Mmm, I know, but I wanted to." Chao turned to face the school. "I always regretted what I did up there. You needed help and I drove you more into a deep pit." Chao was suddenly grim and sad.

"To be honest, somehow, you sparked a little bit of life up there. And even more when you saved me on the street. I lived only to repay you, but I had no way of contacting you. My mother was watching over me all the time." Yitian said and touched Chao's shoulder.

"You knew it was me?" Chao asked, surprised. He thought that the driver didn't say it was him.

"Well, the lie your driver tried wasn't so plausible and I heard you yelling in the car at him to rush. So, yep I knew it was you." Yitian smiled at him.

"I just wanted to know why you did it. Later I learned because you are a really good person." Yitian took Chao's hand and squished it.

"I'm really glad I met you. I don't feel alone anymore with you." Chao said and smiled. Yitian chuckled.

"You were never alone. There are always people around you. Yixing said that you are the most popular guy in your faculty." Chao laughed sarcastically.

"They like my money, not me." He doubted himself. Yitian shook his head.

"Yixing is as rich as you are. But you have something in you. Something that makes people follow you. You are a natural leader." When Yitian finished, Chao smirked.

"Hey, I know. That's why I'll be the captain of the team." Now, it was time for Yitian to laugh. They went back to the car and Yitian thought for a bit.

"You can use your popularity. Even now, you can help yourself in the future. Gaming teams need sponsors. If you are big on Weibo they would come to you by themselves." Yitian said and Chao stopped at the side of the road and looked at Yitian, stunned.

"You are really smart!" he exclaimed and ruffled Yitian's hair. Then he continued the ride home. Yitian's heart was beating for the third time. But now he knew it wasn't just because of other circumstances. But because of Chao.
