40 Delivery

Yitian opened the door, when some delivery rang downstairs, saying he had a package for him. Yitian ran downstairs and went outside. Still, in his old clothes that were a bit too small for him now, he looked hilarious. The delivery boy gave him a paper to sign and then came back from his car with a huge bouquet of colorful flowers.

"Who is it from?" Yitian asked the boy, surprised. He shrugged and closed the back doors of his car.

"There is a card there." He said and drove away with goodbyes. Yitian had an idea. Because he knew only a few people, but that idiot wouldn't do such a cliché thing would he? Yitian took the bouquet upstairs, he had a problem getting into the elevator. Such a huge bunch of flowers it was. When he finally got out of the elevator he almost bumped into his neighbor, because he couldn't see over the flowers.

"I'm so sorry," Yitian said and moved to the side as much as he needed.

"Gold Digger slut," the neighbor uttered when passing by. Yitian was taken aback a second but he remembered how unfriendly the neighbors were towards him.

"Excuse me? What you said?" Yitian asked very politely. The neighbor halted and turned around, surprised that Yitian even said something.

"Oooh, don't play innocent. Your mother told us that you went with some guy, just to be fucked by him for money!" Yitian was speechless. But he was himself enough to make a comeback.

" At least I was good enough to get paid for it. No one would pay to fuck you," Yitian said and walked away not caring about him anymore. People like those will always be jerks.

Yitian walked into the apartment, set the flowers on a counter for now, and looked for something to put them in, a vase or something. After a long while of searching and not finding anything, he took a big glass and put the flowers there. He then picked the note.

'I'm sorry. I'm a jerk. This flower says it all. C' Chao, that idiot. Yitian rubbed his forehead and sighed. Why spending more money? But this was at least… This had some meaning. So Yitian wasn't that mad, he calmed down and saw mistakes on his side too. He shouldn't have walked away. He shouldn't listen to every order Chao said. He shouldn't be his follower but more like his friend. And the biggest thing was that he should have understood him. None of them, neither Chao nor Yitian, had friends before they met. It was understandable that Chao had no idea how to treat friends. They were both stupid but Yitian more.

Yitian smiled at the flowers and decided to go back tomorrow, two days away was enough. It was already too late today to go back. So one more day wouldn't hurt anyone. Yitian took the bouquet to his room and looked at the canvas he was painting there. It was just something his mind wanted to draw and Yitian noticed the differences between this new painting and his old ones hanging on the wall. It was warmer, happier, and less depressing. And even though it was only surreal work without any rules, he saw the flashes of his past months. His gun from the game, lanterns, Christmas lights, fireworks, a book, and few other memories of his. And all of them had something to do with Chao.

"Did I start to live only after he arrived in my life?" Yitian said aloud, setting the canvas aside. He already knew the truth.

The doorbell rang again and Yitian went to answer it again. He went outside directly, meeting the delivery guy. Now it was something else than flowers. Yitian got a package after signing the paper.

"This is express delivery. Don't be so surprised." The delivery guy said when he saw Yitian's surprised face. He said his goodbyes and left. It was so quick that Chao had no opportunity to ask about the sender or the content of the package. He stood there stunned, before going up again. Now, he, thankfully, didn't meet anyone.

Yitian had sat on the sofa and was suspiciously looking at the package. After a few minutes, he decided to open it and accept it even if it was the phone he got from Chao before. When he opened the box it showed how much he knew Chao. It was the phone. But at the same time, something new was there. It was in a black case, Yitian turned it around and the three characters his name had been riding the tail of a red dragon. Yitian ran his fingers over the case and was amazed at how detailed the work was.

"Idiot," he said at the verge of tears and sniffled. Now, Yitian had totally decided to go back tomorrow. He was so stupid to care so much about Chao spending money on him. It was a gift. It was something he himself picked up, thinking about Yitian. He should have seen the intention behind the phone and not to get angry at Chao. He should have known that Chao just wanted him to be normal and to have a way to keep in touch with him, so he wouldn't be so worried.

Yitian turned on the phone and set it up, before sending a message to Chao, whose number was already added in the contact list.

'Thank you. I'm sorry. I'll be back soon.' Yitian smiled after he sent it. He wasn't anticipating such a quick response.

'If you are really sorry, open the door.' Yitian read the message three times, shaking his head. What? He was frowning when opening the door, but his eyes widened as soon as he did open them. Chao was standing there with bags in his hands and a face full of repentance.

"I'm really sorry, I behaved like an idiot. Can I come in?" Chao said, Yitian was stunned so he just nodded and sidestepped. Chao smiled slightly, knowing he won one battle when entering.
