It was the seventh day since I started creating new spells , with the help of knowledge of the books I found in the secretive personal library of mom.

Since the incident was a huge turmoil for the whole Japan, the schools were closed for two weeks and even after that I had already made a deal, so I wasn't worried about school and only focused on the matter in hand.

At first, it was only the books of offensive spells, which were easy to read as some were written in either Korean or Japanese , but there were also some books that didn't had any name or content written on it.

The reason of it, was simple. Mom used the same spell which she used for hiding her library.

'Illusion'

Sharingan was actually more useful than I thought as it could see through any deception easily, and the mana it consumes felt like a spoonful taken from a river , so I was fine using it continuously, for half a day.

Mana helped me negating my hunger which made me , wanting food once in a day or two as my body still required food to survive. I was sleeping less than 4 hours a day, and consuming most of the time in reading books. I wrote my own thesis from every possible experiment and concluded on only 6 of them. Majorly offensive type. Since chants were no use for me, I only studied the formation of spells from the books which completed half of the task as the rest was in my hands , that how I imagined and create something out of it.

The one I was trying right now was the most difficult one. I had to split the nuclei of atoms and compress the energy which it releases , in order to maintain its size but not decreasing it's destructivness . The first atom explosive formation took 8 hours of complete focus and even after that, the size of it was comparable a mini meteor. I was thankful that our training ground had a higher roof than any other room.

"Well i don't have to rush ". After trying for seven days and failing for the 16 times, I paused the work of it and focused on something else , after taking a quick break.

'Now something defensive'.

⟨Barrier - Limitless⟩

A barrier which could always protect me from external forces and physical attacks, whether I focus on it or not. The barrier would surround my whole body ,each corner like an armour but invisible one.

For this I just needed to focus on my mana circulation as making a barrier needs mana to be condensed around me . For that i had to slow down the flow of mana from the minimum until it reaches zero.

'I have to focus on the manipulation ...man, what I was doing until now!". Reflecting back on the things I did in past 11 years seemed like I was just preparing to be a regular hunter nothing more nothing less , and being regular was not an option after what I faced that day.

My weakness against those opponents who could absorb mana originated attacks, was also under process but still I needed someone to train me more about weapons and physical efficiency as the knowledge and the experience I had now , basically would help me from the expected dangers only.

I had huge quantity of spells in my mind,which would be best for wide areas but attacking a single entity with the same explosion or something for wide defense barrier ,was still out of my reach.

The atomic detonation could easily wipe out a whole town if it's full potential is utilised and the aftereffect will only be suffered by those who doesn't possessed mana.

But still the thing I need the most at the moment was to focus on my mana circulation in order to manipulate it, however I desired. I had a lots of mana to spare but a rich kid without awareness , would only end up buying colourful pebbles with that money.

I tried meditation , physical workout and extreme postures but it wasn't any different from my normal concentration, and that was making me real frustated. I tried masturbation too in order for a change ,but the results were same.

Now it was taking me upto 4 hours to perfectly balance out the circulation of mana around me and form an armour , but still this long time could cost my life a few thousands times.

In the list of my experiment , the first one was derived , solely from my true imagination. The magic nullification which I learnt from the dimensionsal knight, actually worked when the magic gets in contact with me or I directly touch the person I want to erase the mana from. I was far behind to become capable of erasing the whole mana from a person but still I had already reached the stage where I can erase half of it . However it depends on the person I would target and their mana pool.

The experiment was that I wanted to attach my magic nullification with mana threads so I could target anyone from a distance , without getting noticed. But their respective formations were polar opposite. One of it works, with mana as its base and other one resists the same mana . I had to regulate two opposite cycles at the same time and for that i only needed one thing...

'Focus'.

This one piece of map was the source of many treasures, yet at the moment , it was unreachable.

*Buzz*

I recieved a text from Ms. Fubuki that she got some information from the red knight before he died and want to share it with me.

[Principal: Come to my house or you won't get the souvenir~]

[Me: It better be useful or this would be the last time I will ever see your message.]

Since I was planning to go outside for the day, i thought it will be better to check out what she had to propose.

I checked on mom and after taking a shower and changing clothes, I left the house.

Subaru was surfing at a high speed in the air , with an invisible hoverboard under his feet. He could have ran toward her house but on the way he thought of reading books to utilise his time.

Various people were able to levitate freely in air , so hunters only glanced once at Subaru and engaged back to their own works.

Fubuki's house was on the west side of the city, about 12 km away from Subaru's apartment so it took him about 10 minutes to reach there.

He rang the bell and a busty , green haired woman opened the door with a smile on her face.

Fubuki was wearing a green one piece upto her knee length with two emberalds earings complimenting her eye colour.

"Ara~ were you rather impatient to meet me?" She asked in her all time flirtious tone which left no affect on Subaru as he already got used to it.

He didn't spoke anything and proceeded inside ,as Fubuki led him.

The bunglow was really big from outside and from inside it was no different.

A beautiful chandelier over the luxurious couch , with decorative antiques all over the place, made the villa more exquisite than it was.

Subaru already made a shield around him before coming here and was ready to counter any attack, if this invitation was not from Fubuki but dirty trap of Association.

"Are you done with your survey? Now please sit down . I will bring somethings for you~". Fubuki gestured toward the couch and before Suabru could respond , she went inside .

He didn't had any word with Theo since that day and Fubuki also didn't spoke anything about him when she contacted Subaru during the week.

"So what do you know?" Subaru asked as soon Fubuki returned back with a trolley with various trays on it, containing all type of snacks and drinks.

"You really are not friendly huh. But I can't blame you ". She sat infront of Subaru and poured a cup of tea for herself and Subaru.

"The knight which we faced that day was the second lowest piece of the game they are playing".

"As in the piece of chess ?"

"Similar to that . There are all kind of pieces out there still waiting on the other side of dimension". She said before sipping her tea.

"Elaborate". Subaru said in a domineering tone , making her shiver aggressively.

"Ah yes. Actually there are, or to say were 6 pairs in total , that is 2 pair of every piece , if we exclude the queen .Now only 5 pairs are remaining. According to what I heard, those knights were the second lowest ranked in the heirarchy and the first knight pair is much more powerful than them , taking rook and bishop in account then the knights were nothing. I don't know much about the pawns which are the lowest grade among them, but the vague information is that the pawns are roaming around the world for a specific purpose".

" And what is that purpose?"

" To crumble us down from inside ". She put down the emptied cup on the saucer before replying.

"So they are already playing their game without getting noticed at all , huh". Subaru chuckled at the realisation of how unaware he and like him , everyone were.

"Why are they waiting , when their lower grade pieces could take down S ranks? If they would have attacked us at the same time then, I think the earth would have already went through a proper renovation ." Subaru asked.

" It's still unknow". Fubuki frowned as she remembered how the knight who was even under a mind-binding spell, suddenly started to choke when he was about to answer this certain question.

"And what about the queen . ?"

"He died when he tried to talk about the queen".

A/N: Fubuki is not that bad, I mean she hid the fact from the association that Subaru is the top freelancer. She just did that dungeon thing with him because she was not sure about his powers and didn't want him to get in danger.

And the thing why he is working on the mana spells even he faced someone who was able to nullify it, then he had made progress with something which could help him in case something like that day happens again.
