7 The party 2 ;Clark’s confession

Chapter 7

As I turned to look at Damien, I noticed my heart skip a bit the moment I laid eyes on him. Once he came close,the devil doesn't look scary,in fact he looked like an angel especially because he was wearing a white tux paired with a black bow tie.

His brown hair were silky smooth and combed backwards,on his wrist were the most expensive looking watch I've ever seen as he walked towards us with an enchanting smile on his face.

"Oh Damien"mum replied when he came closer to give her and dad,she then wrapped him in an embrace. I shook my head as if trying to shake myself back to reality.

What is going on? why is my heart beating so fast? okay it's normal for me to be that excited when I see an handsome man. But the I thought of him as 'handsome' almost made me puke.

"it's nothing serious,I blame dopamine for this" I said as if assuring myself.

Mum and Dad continued to engage Damien in a discussion.

'This is the right opportunity to look for Clark' I thought

As I was about leaving,Damien grabbed my wrist and asked"where are you going darling?".

"Darling?" I must be hearing things I said inaudibly . He noticed that I didn't reply and he repeated the question.

"Oh I just want to use the restroom I'd be back soon" I said forcing a smile on my face.

"Okay dear" Damien said. Well he sure deserves an award for acting so well.

I left them as I began looking for Clark,I think I saw him earlier he must be probably looking for me as well.

"Where is he" I said softly as I walked around the hall in search of him. I accidentally bumped into someone

"Oops I'm so sorry as I looked up to apologize".

"Clark?" I said

"Seraphine" he said elated and there goes his sparkly eyes.

"Can we go talk in the garden outside?" i asked almost immediately trying to avoid Damien's preying eyes

"Sure"he replied

We got to the garden and sat on the bench.

"You look so beautiful " he commented and I could imagine my face go pink as I blushed.

"I could have come to see you but I was angry that you got paired with that beast so I went to isolate myself for sometime and also because I couldn't stand staying at home with that busybody. I was only lucky to get your call right after I got back after realizing how selfish I was for not checking up on you"he said sounding so sad and apologetic.

"It's okay,you shouldn't blame yourself for all that happened. I couldn't call you as well due to the rules. I was happy when I was given the opportunity to invite my friends,and I'm glad you're here" I said trying to lighten up the mood.He then smiled.

"I have something to tell you Seraphine,I don't know how you'd feel about what I'm about to say.In fact you may think I'm crazy but I just want to be honest.

I could hear my heart pounding hard at this point,I wonder what he's about to say but the silence is killing me.What if.....

"I...he started interrupting my thoughts. He took a deep breath,took my hands and then continued "I'm in love with you seraphine".

I...I....I tried to speak but for some reason I couldn't.The butterflies within me were on high energy,I've always dreamt of this but why would fate have it this way.Why do I feel so helpless,I looked into his eyes admiring its beauty.

I wanted to ask him why he took so long to realize his feelings,how come he didn't see I was in love with him for years.

I smiled at him,placing my hands on his face and cupped his cheeks and was about to reply when I heard Damien call from behind.

"Seraphine"he said as he moved closer,I quickly took my hands off Clark's cheek and stood up. He got closer to me completely ignoring Clark who gave him a cold stare as well,and he wrapped his arm around my waist unexpectedly

"Darling mother needs to have a word with you" he said faking a smile.I hope he didn't see how close I was with Clark,if he does then I'm so dead....But he goes around philandering with girls as well so why would he bother,he won't get angry I said reassuring myself.

"Okay"I replied

"let's talk later Clark" I said almost whispering.

"Alright,let me know if you need my help with anything "

I told him not to worry as I left with Damien.

It's 11pm,the party has ended and everyone is retiring for bed. Mom,Dad and the other visitors decided to sleep over till the next day,but Clark went home early.

The house has over 40 rooms although they were separated into different wings.Mother,the mayor and Daine all stay in the west wing while Damien and I stay in the east wing. Oher rooms like the music room,library,art gallery etcetera are in the east wing as well.

I changed into my pajamas,took my blanket and lay on the couch as usual. The day has been pleasant except for the fact that my heart tried to misbehave when I saw Damien in a tuxedo.

How could I even compare that devil to an angel just because he looks good in a tux. I decided not to go on thinking about horrible things and focus instead on what Clark said earlier.

I can't believe he really professed his feelings for me,I couldn't stop blushing and smiling as I thought of the whole scene.

However Damien didn't even nag about it and how come he didn't invite any of his girls?, he could've just invited them over as one his friends.

The other members of the Daniel household were nice to me and mother couldn't be more proud to show me off to them and her friends as well.

"Wow you have a beautiful daughter in-law" they'd all say and nothing could've made mother more proud of having me as her daughter-in-law.

I closed my eyes to finally get the peaceful sleep I deserve after the day's stress when I heard Damien say from his sleep

"I'm sorry,pls don't hurt me,I'd do all that you ask" I stood up to see what was happening. He was sweating profusely and looked scared as well. As I moved closer to where he laid,I kept praying that he doesn't yell at me for getting close.

I placed my hand on the bed and continued to stare at him as he continue to apologize and shiver from fear in his sleep.

I decided to go get help when I felt a hand grab my wrist,dragging me towards the bed.
