Orphanage

In the morning, I woke up to Lloyd's head against my back. I carefully slid out of bed, grabbed some clothes, and went into the bathroom. I took a hot shower and put on a green skirt, blue shirt, boots, and and green jacket. I brushed my hair out and put it in a bun. I came out and found Lloyd waiting for me. "Morning," I said giving him a quick peck on the lips.

"Morning," he replied. He gave my hair a dark look. "Do you have to keep putting your hair up?"

I smirked. "Yup."

"I like it better down," he grumbled.

"I know. But it keeps it out of my face. I do have a job to get to today," I reminded him.

He looked away. "Right."

I watched him for a minute. "I thought you said it was okay."

He glanced at me then looked at the ground. "It is."

"Doesn't seem like it."

"I'm just worried."

I went over and hugged him. "I'll be fine, Lloyd. Nya and Harumi will be there and I do know how to take care of myself."

"I know. It's just we haven't found Loro."

"Yet. You haven't found him yet."

He shook his head. "I don't think we will find him."

I kissed him gently. "You will. I know you will."

He smiled a little. "Maybe." He kissed me. "You better get going so you aren't late."

I nodded and stepped back. "Love you."

"Love you too."

I grabbed my purse and left. Harumi and Nya were waiting for me at the gates. "Sorry," I said. "I needed to give Lloyd a confidence booster."

"That's fine," Nya said then she made her elemental dragon. We rode it to the orphanage.

I walked up to the receptionist. "Hello. I'm Y/n Garmadon. This is Harumi Jade and Nya Walker. I sent an email letting you know we'll be working today."

She nodded. "Yes. You'll be working with the babies today." She led the way to the nursery and told us what we needed to do. Then she left.

"Wow," Harumi muttered. "We just have to sit around until one cries."

I rolled my eyes. "Why are you complaining? It gives us time to talk about your plan."

She nodded. "True."

"So are you going to make a cake and put the ring in there?" Nya asked in a low voice so we didn't wake the babies.

Harumi shook her head. "No. I was thinking I'd leave the box on his pillow and wait for him to come in. Then when he opens it, I'll ask him to marry me."

"Okay. That's not very romantic but I think he'll like it," Nya said frowning.

"It's romantic. Anyway, someone proposes is romantic," I said looking at one of the babies.

Nya gave me a doubtful look. "If you say so."

Harumi scowled. "It's better than how Jay proposed to you!"

"I gues that's true. But how come you can't wait for Morro to do it?"

"Because he said he wasn't really planning to propose to me for a while."

My phone buzzed and I looked at the text. "Oh, boy," I murmured. "Harumi when are you planning to do this?"

"I was thinking tonight. Or do you think I should wait a couple of days?" She said.

Giving the fact that the text said Morro was going to propose tonight I said, "How about you wait for a couple of days? Just to make sure he won't do it."

She nodded. "Okay."

The baby girl I had been looking at started crying. I picked her up. "Shh, you're okay," I said gently. She continued crying. I checked her diaper and found that it was full. So I changed that then grabbed one of the bottles and started feeding her. She calmed down and slowly fell asleep.

"Wow," Nya said quietly. "You're amazing."

I shook my head. "I read baby books."

Harumi and Nya moved closer. "In eight months you'll have one of your own," Harumi murmured.

I nodded. "Yeah," I said softly.

"What are you hoping for? A boy or a girl?" Nya asked eagerly.

My mouth twitched. "I'd be happy with either."

Harumi scowled. "Come on. Tell us which one."

I laughed quietly. "A boy, if you must know."

"So he can carry on the family name?"

"Mm-hmm." I set the baby in her cradle and read the name. "Her name's Delilah."

"Well, she's one adorable baby," Nya said.

I smiled. "Yeah."

The receptionist came in with my husband following her. "He came to see you," she explained.

I nodded. "Okay." She left. "What's up, Lloyd?" I said.

"I just wanted to see how you were doing," he said.

Harumi looked at her watch. "We've only been here for two hours."

"Yeah, you don't have to worry about her while we're here," Nya said.

"Unless you don't trust us," Harumi added.

Lloyd scowled at both of them. "First, quit teaming up on me. Second, I do trust you guys. I just wanted to see Y/n. Is that so hard to believe?"

"Yes," we chorused.

"Okay, fine. You win. I'm worried Loro is hovering around here. Is there anything I can do to change your mind about this?" He asked me.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "You said as long as these two were with me you'd be fine with it. You can't go back on your word, Lloyd Garmadon."

"But..."

Delilah started crying again. As soon as I picked her up she fell silent and watched us. "Hi," I said.

"Mmeh," she said.

"I guess she doesn't want to sleep anymore," Harumi said.

Nya suddenly smirked. "Hey, Y/n. Maybe Lloyd should get a chance to hold her."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh? And why is that?"

She moved so she was beside me. "He is going to be a dad. Let's see how he handles just holding a baby," she whispered.

I smiled. "Good idea," I whispered back. I walked over to Lloyd. "Here, love. Why don't you try holding her?"

Lloyd took a quick step back. "No," he said. There was panic in his eyes.

I scowled. "Lloyd, we're going to have a baby of our own in eight months. You should learn how to hold a baby before then."

He groaned. "I don't want to. You'll get to hold our kid all the time."

"Oh, no I won't," I said sharply. I put the baby in his arms and adjusted them so he was supporting her correctly. Then I stepped back. "There. Is that so bad?"

Lloyd was looking at her. "I guess it's not that bad," he murmured.

She reached up a hand and grabbed his hair. "Mmeh," she said as she pulled.

Lloyd winced and I gently tugged his hair out of her hand. "She's adorable, isn't she?" I said.

He nodded. "Yeah." He gave her back to me. "I get your point. You can stay here. But I have to go. I'm supposed to be searching for Loro." He kissed me quickly. "I'll see you later."

I nodded. "I'll see you at home," I said emphasizing the word home.

He sighed. "Right." He left.

I turned to the girls and grinned. "Mission on accomplished."

They laughed. "Yup," Nya said.

I set the baby down. "Thank you, Delilah."

"Mmeh," she replied. Her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

I looked at the girls. "Now we just have to wait for one of the others to wake."

They both looked around. "Let's just hope they don't wake up all at once," Harumi said uneasily.

I laughed. "That won't happen."

We all settled in to wait.
