Love At First Gaze

The first time was a coincidence. Second time could be called good timing. Third time is destiny. The first time they met, they were both cosplaying at an Anime Convention. Coincidentally, she was Usagi Tsukino, and he happened to be Tuxedo Mask from the anime, Sailor Moon. Their first gaze caught his attention. Her first smile swept his heart away. She walked towards him, and he was ready to take off the mask to talk to her. Unfortunately, it was all a misunderstanding. This was their first time crossing paths, but he facepalmed so hard when he realized he got the wrong idea that he changed his "Hi," into an anime's title, "Hitman Reborn." At that time, he watched her approach another person who acted as Tuxedo Mask behind him. The smile she had on her face wasn't towards him. It was a mistake. Two months later Second time they met was at their graduation. His brother, Lucas, flew back from overseas to attend his graduation in place of his parents. After taking countless pictures with his brother and some with friends, they left campus. Inside his black Mercedes, his brother shoved several well taken photos and showed it to him. Just when he was about to answer his regular plain response, the words swallowed back down his throat. He held his brother's phone and zoomed in to the back where he saw her again! Once again, a facepalm landed on his face as he couldn't believe that there could be such timing. He could've gotten her name! After a few days later, he got off his shift late and realized that he didn't go grocery shopping. Since his fridge was empty, he decided to have his meal at a newly opened Szechuan Spicy Bowl restaurant. "It shouldn't take that long to get a seat at this time.." Or so he thought. When he got there, the place was full and he didn't have much patience since he was alone. Right when he was about to leave, the waiter asked if he minded sharing a table. "Sure." He sat down across from the girl and ordered from the menu. When she took a few napkins to wipe her nose, he took the chance to thank her for sharing the table. And there she was with her Beyond Human level spicy bowl... Although they only exchanged a few words, he found her very interesting. A girl eating at this hour without caring about her weight and her surrounding. She was adorable. The clumsy her forgot her newly printed business cards at her seat when she left. "Lily Jiang," he smiled. He thought of bringing this to her when he is free, but who knew that they would meet again at the hospital? His lips twitched when he faced his new patient, "Hello, Miss. Jiang, I am Lin Que, your doctor for this visit. Where do you feel uncomfortable?" He looked at the medical report in hand as he couldn't believe his luck with this girl.

Signing The Contract

Author's note: I'm finally back from quite a long time (to me). I haven't been well for the past year and hopefully I will be able to continue writing (or feel good enough to write). Thank you all for your patience and support! I will try my best to continue updating!

"Verbal contracts still have power by law. I will do as I said since they've compromised with my conditions. Don't worry, even quitting needs time. Your artists have projects they are working on. I'll wait until they finish working and for you to ask them to join your team first." Lily smiled once again when she heard Sofia's concerned voice.

Shortly after Lily's conversation ended with Sofia, a knock interrupted her work. Facing the door, Lily responded to the knock. "Come in."

"Miss. Jiang, Mister Tian Yuo from Tian Corps is outside your office with an improvised contract that needs your signature. Should I let him in?" Lily's assistant, Shannel politely asked in a soft tone.

"Yes. Let him in. Thanks." Lily smiled while spinning a pen between her fingers.

Seconds later, Tian Yuo walked into the office with a stack of papers in his hands. "Yo, Lily. We meet again."

"Eh? It seems like Mister Tian Yuo has a lot of free time on his hand to come to visit my office just for a signature. Well? Are you here to sign the contract or here to negotiate with me? I'm telling you right now that I won't sign anything that will bring me into a disadvantageous position. So, I suggest you think before you speak." Lily stood up and guided him to the couch area.

"How could I not come personally for our contract? I have to show my sincerity in signing this contract with you. Don't worry, the duration of this contract changed to be up to two months. This means that two months is the maximum time I'll spend with you. As for the rest of the conditions that were changed, I've already agreed to each of them. My signature is already on the documents. Review them and sign if there are no other problems." Tian Yuo smirked as he took a seat across from Lily.

After reading every word carefully, Lily picked up her pen and signed her name on the bottom of the pages of the contract. Once everything was done, she made a copy of the contract.

"Since we've come to an agreement, we can begin whenever you need me. Just reminding you, my fiance will also be living with us. So, you can choose to either live with him under his property or we can move into one of your properties. However, we will remain a safe distance in private and you cannot take advantage of me in any way. If you do, I can terminate the contract at any time along with pursuing compensation."

She handed the original copy of the contract to Tian Yuo with a satisfied grin on her face. With Lin Que's assistance, she will not be taken advantage of by him.

"Then I wish us a smooth cooperation." Tian Yuo extended his hand, attempting to shake her hand. However, his effort was in vain. She avoided his hand, folded her arms across her chest, and threw him a questionable look.

"Now that we've signed the documents, will Mister Tian Yuo fulfill my curiosity?" She walked to her desk and grabbed her milk tea.

"What is it?" A lopsided smirk grew on his face when he found it rare for her to ask him things.

"Why me?" She's been wondering about this question repeatedly. Despite having countless conclusions in her mind, she still wasn't very convinced by his motives. If it was a contract like this, he could've asked any woman out there and they'll agree to it. So, why her?

"Because you won't fall in love with me." His head bopped like a bird pecking for worms.

"Uh.....Yeah, you got that point right. Even if you're the last of humankind, I wouldn't fall for you nor have any relationship with you." She placed her cup back on her desk, feeling a loss of appetite.

"Wow! So harsh." He grinned, not surprised by her bluntness.

"Uh- I swear you sound like a masochist, but okay. Anyway, why did you make this contract again? I still don't understand why we have to live under one roof and I have to act as your girlfriend. You have many choices out there, yet you chose me. I get it that not all girls could be as straightforward as me to tell you how unattractive you are to me, but still. It makes the whole contract so shady." Lily described his approach in getting her to sign the contract in comparison to the darkest ideas related to shady businesses that made him cringe.

"Stop right there! I only asked for you to be my companion for the next months. Jeez, what kind of thoughts fill your head? Are you a psychopath? I only wanted you to help me get rid of a chick who has been pestering me since I was young!" He folded his arms with his eyes closed as she explained the situation to her.

Half an hour later, the two of them sat across from each other.

"In other words, you have a fiancee whom you do not want to be responsible for. You know, of all the things you've said so far, all I see is your narcissistic attitude. That poor girl has done so many things and you've never appreciated her efforts. What's her name again? Right, Susu."

Lily was quite interested in this lady named Susu. Precisely, she wanted to know what was so attractive about Tian Yuo in her eyes. Hence, she made a personal note to herself to ask her this question if they ever meet in the future.

"Anyway, since our contract is done, I'll hand it over to the legal department for processing. I look forward to working with you." Tian Yuo flapped the contract in his hands as he walked out of her office.

"Yeah, I'm not." Lily mumbled. After he left, Lily dialed Lin Que's number to update him about the contract.
