Digestion

In an apartment, Shibuya, Japan.

An hour had exactly passed.

After the encounter with the officers in the police station, Amon had gone back to his rented apartment he started to rent last week.

Last week, after dealing with the thug, he withdrew some cash and proceeded to buy some clothes for himself. After that, he went to find an apartment he could temporarily stay at.

His day went rather quiet and peaceful.

After sleeping, he then woke up. It was only after he checked the system and realized that another achievement could now be viewed.

[Reward/s:

• Potion of Sequence 8: Swindler ]

Laying down on his bed, Amon touched his monocle. "Digestion, huh…" he said.

"I have no idea what that is," Amon said, getting up from his bed.

Thinking for several seconds, Amon went out of his apartment.

For now, he decided to do experiments. He had thought that since this 'digestion' was connected to the potion he drank, doing things using his ability to steal should have triggered something.

He then went to a place where there were a lot of people.

He went to the subway station.

'Since my ability is mainly about stealing, doing something like this should have an effect,' Amon smiled as he entered the train full of passengers.

Moving here and there until the next stop, Amon had successfully stolen anything in their pockets without their awareness.

And as he exited the subway station, he felt a little bit of what was akin to 'consumption' inside.

Adjusting his monocle, Amon smiled. "I see," he said, chuckling.

He digested a little bit of the potion.

After that, for the next five days, he went around stealing anything he could find without the awareness of the people.

But, there was a slight problem.

He felt that the digestion was slow. He had felt that during the five days of him stealing, he had only digested not more than 2% of the potion.

Loitering around, he was thinking what to do. Although there was still progress in digestion, he felt that he was not going the right way.

The 'him' right now wouldn't want to work earnestly hard. He wanted to find a loophole.

As he was thinking of a solution, he suddenly entered a jewelry shop he found along the way.

Then, an accident happened.

Because he was stealing whatever for the past few days, he 'accidentally' stole a piece of jewelry.

'Oh, no~ What is this doing in my hand,' he thought.

Then, a fortunate thing came to him.

"You! Guards! Get that thief!!" the owner screamed.

And at the same time, Amon felt a sudden increase in his digestion.

'What the… My digestion went instantly to almost 4%,' Amon thought, smiling while adjusting his monocle.

Then, he had an epiphany.

'I see… I thought that I was not going the right way, and it seems that I was right!'

He thought that technically, he was not going in the wrong way. It was just that the way he stole was not the most effective way to make him digest the potion.

Going back to the potion's name, he smiled and thought, 'Simply stealing things wasn't the best way to digest the potion. The most effective way to digest the potion is to steal in the way that the potion's name suggests.'

Amon adjusted his monocle. 'Meaning, I should truly act like a marauder,' he thought.

Acting Method!

Chuckling, Amon handed back the piece of jewelry he had stolen. "Here, I'm giving this back to you. Your security sucks by the way, get better. Haha," he said.

Pissing off the owner to the max, Amon was then taken to the police station and had an encounter with the two corrupt officers.

Going back to the present, Amon, who was in his apartment, was happily smiling at the discovery he made today.

"Today is indeed a lucky day," he said.

He had two great encounters today. One of it was the acting method, while the other one was the connection to the Eighth Clan.

The Eighth Clan consisted of hooligan members who would do anything to achieve their goals, even if they had to do murder and theft.

They were truly a brutal clan.

"Well honestly, they are not bad," Amon chuckled.

As bad as they appeared to be, their alignment perfectly fits with Amon's goal. Right now, he is socially weak. He had no connections.

If it came the day where he messed up big time, he wouldn't have anyone backing him up.

And the other thing, he was still in the process of fully digesting the potion. He couldn't just randomly steal anything in front of his victim and received no consequences. That would garner so much attention to him who just gained an ability.

Being with the Eighth Clan would solve all of that.

For one, the Eighth Clan was known for being a brutal clan so their reputation alone would make his future enemies to at least reconsider their intentions to attack him.

And second, for any theft that he would soon do, he could just tossed it around and say that it was the will of the Eighth Clan. That way, the theft would be focused on the Eighth Clan itself rather than the individual who commited theft.

They honestly would make the perfect scapegoat.

Now, the only problem was that—what would be their reaction to him.

Incase that things didn't go the way he hoped for… He could just force them or incite them. Violence could resolve any problems anyway.

But still, he wouldn't want to make unnecessary noise for now. It was just not him who had an ability. People of this world have what they called sigils, which he wouldn't dare to underestimate.

Regarding his plan to at least collaborate with the Eighth Clan, he had shown the two corrupt officers that he was not unwilling to do business with them. He just hoped that those two were not dumb and instead put good words about him to their clan leader.

Taking out his phone from the system, Amon checked out the broken screen. He then opened it and saw a new notification.

[New Message!]—it said.

Amon clicked on the notification as it opened his email. "Great," he said as he smiled.

Reading the text, he smiled again. He was being invited to Darwin's Game.

Amon looked at the broken phone once again. "But first things first, I should buy a new phone. This one looked really horrible now," he said. There was more pressing matter.

In a warehouse, base of the Eighth Clan.

A person wearing a vest with a number 8 on his back was holding a man's neck. He had hair dreadlocks while having sharp ears and sharp eyes.

It was Wang—the leader of the Eighth Clan.

Slapping the cheeks of the man Wang was holding, he threateningly asked him a question. "Hey, hey, hey, hey!! Where is it, huh!!? Do you really wanna play this way, huhh!?" he said, dropping down the man.

Shaking heavily, the man replied, "Khoff! Hah.. ha… I-I don't know!! I-I'm only in charge of checking the supplies! I d-don't know where they took the money drug! I swear!"

bam!

Wang then punched the man's stomach and said, "Hahh… You're making this hard for the both of us."

bam!

Making a punch once again, Wang looked at the unconscious man and turned his back away.

Wang looked at the several men surrounding him. All of them wore a similar outfit to him—black vest with a number 8 on the back.

Wang ordered one of them, "Locked him up! I'll be talking again with him. And once he wakes up… we will definitely have a fun and exciting time together. Kekekek!"

Wang then went outside. 'Tsk! This is a waste of time,' he thought as the two members suddenly approached him.

"B-boss! We have something to report," one of them said, shaking a bit.

Wang took a glance at them and said, "Just make sure that it's not something irrelevant. If it is… then I'll make sure to scatter both of your brains."

'Scary…' the two of them thought. Wang was still not in a good mood after all.

One of them gulped his saliva and said, "W-we have found someone that could be of use to us!! He was rich, and didn't know the existence of the D-Game!"

The other member added and said, " I a-already sent him an invitation! He also already replied that he had intentions of joining us! T-that's all! Here's the phone with his contact!"

Wang walked near to them and took the phone and placed his hand on their shoulder. Seeing that action, the two members felt relief.

"First of all… You two got some nerves to make decision ahead of me!" Wang screamed, cutting one of their arms.

"Gah!! AHH!! Aaahhh!!!" the bloodied two members screamed in pain.

"P-please don't kill us!" they begged.

Seeing that, Wang immediately lost interest and opened the phone they gave to him.

"Kekeke. Since you two dare to suggest him, I'll judge him. This better be worthwhile of entertainment while that fucker still sleeps. Kekek!"

Unbeknownst to Amon, Wang didn't plan on having a smooth business with him.
