Chapter 29: The Past Revealed

My milkshake was gone by the time Finn pulled his car into the driveway of a tiny brick house. It sat next to the start of a gravel lane surrounded by trees.

“That lane leads to Grey’s father’s cabin,” Finn said as we got out of the car. “The house where Lily and I grew up is there.” He pointed at a small ranch style home two houses away from the lane. “And Dierk’s is across the road.”

I looked down the gravel lane, but I couldn’t see any cottages.

“Are these the same woods that flank Denhurst?” I asked.

“Yep,” Lily replied. “Starting a few hundred yards into the woods, the land belongs to Denhurst … to you.”

My eyes widened, and I laughed . “I want to explore them as soon as I can. All that room to run!”

“You are a wolf.” Finn chuckled. “Come on. Cyrus is usually sitting on his back porch in the afternoon.”

I followed Finn and Lily to the rear of the brick house and found an elderly gentleman, sitting on a padded wooden rocking chair.
