Chapter 23: Wolf Voices
It seemed like Grey had been gone for hours. It was unnerving being in the middle of the woods alone. Maybe I should start back to the house.
I’m pretty sure I could find my way. The sun had been on my left side as I walked to the clearing with Grey, so I should make it back to Denhurst by keeping it on my right.
I wasn't totally alone. The shifter guard was out here somewhere unless they went after the person or shifter with blonde hair that I just saw through the trees.
I couldn’t see much other than a glimpse of their hair, but it had to be Nikki. If she’d try to drown me over living near Grey, she’d throw a rock at me if she saw us in each other’s arms.
And Nikki had to be involved with the rogue shifters. I saw a blonde woman in the house that night, just behind the men. What other blonde hated me enough to want me dead?
Since Nikki interrupted such an intimate moment with Grey, I wasn’t fond of her either. I think we had been close to making love for the first time.
