Chapter 14: Visitors
***Emma's POV
I watched Grey work in the garden for over an hour. It was such a warm day I thought he might be thirsty, so I took him a cold glass of tea.
“Can I help?” I asked as he drained the glass.
He wiped his forehead with his arm. “Thanks, but I’m almost finished,” he said. “Why don’t you go for a swim with Lily?” He handed me the empty glass and went back to work without another word.
“I’ll see what she’s doing,” I said, trying to hide my disappointment. I wanted to spend time with Grey. “I’ll wait until you're done to go swimming,” I suggested.
But Grey shook his head. “I’ve got too much to do today. I’ve been neglecting my work lately. Ask Lily.” He turned away and began pulling weeds from between the rows of tomato plants.
