Chapter 13: Running Wolf

Grey’s POV

I shifted as soon as I entered the woods. I needed to think, and a good run would help.

As I thundered through the trees, my mind went back to what Emma had revealed. She now remembered the wolf who attacked her mother as being a shaggy brown wolf with black eyes.

If that memory of her mother’s attack was accurate, it meant an even bigger injustice occurred sixteen years ago.

But if it was a false memory, Emma would eventually find out and despise me. At the very least, she would never look at me the same way again. If only there was a way for me to find out the truth before Emma remembered more.

For three of the individuals affected by the tragedy it no longer made a difference. But it made a big difference to me. When Emma knew the full story, it would matter to her too.

I arrived at my favorite spot: the grassy clearing near the spring. Lowering my head, I drank the cool water of the stream until my thirst was satiated, and then I laid down in the high grass.
