Chapter 18 Familiar

Making her way to the door, a voice stopped her in her tracks. Talk about food she's bound to stay!!!

"Eat something before you go." suggested Liam concerned.

"Ohhhh!!!!," James smacked his forehead for his forgetfulness, "how can I forget!! Jenny, come eat something." he urshered her or practically dragged her towards the kitchen not giving her a chance to refuse. Liam followed behind quietly watching her back which made him giddy. He knew he shouldn't feel that way as he got the signal from the others but he couldn't help himself.

Jenny didn't get a chance to protest as she was dragged to the kitchen, made to sit on a stool and James got ready to prepare her a meal. "What would you like to eat? I'll make it for you." He was going to check out his culinary skills after along while, besides, he was cooking for his future sister in law!!! What great honour it was??!!

Jenny's face couldn't help but grimance when he offered to cook for her. 'Was it eadible?'

Seeing her expression, James pouted as if wronged. "Hey, am really good at cooking don't give me that look!! You can ask Liam, Liam aren't I a good cook?" he gave Liam his signature aggrieved face.

"He's so old to act like that!!' thought Liam but he still smiled and and nodded. "Jenny..." her name sounded so sweet on his tongue, "James is a good cook. You should give his dish a try." he looked at Jenny who looked at and later nodded hesitantly. James was practically a lazy bum when it came to cooking. Liam too was rather surprised when he offered to prepare her a meal, the last time he last tasted his cooking was when he prepared the meals during Jason's birthday at the army camp for the dark shadow force and that was practically four years ago.

Seeing her hesitation, James was ready to throw a tantrum but swallowed it back. 'I'm goimg to cook for you and you'll beg me to become your chef!!' he thought as he folded his sleeves, put on an apron and dived into making his speciality. Liam went ahead and served her mango juice and a beef burger he made for her to munch on in the meantime as the meal was being prepared by grumpy James.

This atmosphere was so familiar for her, she had this kind of life before that day, that attack...she shuddered at the thought.

"Jenny you okay?" Liam asked when he saw her face go pale and shudder. His voice pulled her back from the black hole that was about to swallow her whole. She gave him a faint smile and nodded. "Your burger is so tasty," she decided to kill the gloomy atmosphere. Hearing her compliment him, shy Liam blushed hard that Jenny chuckled. He reminded her of someone. "Your so cute!!" she unconciously said. Only that she couldn't pinch his cheeks, how sad!!!

James almost burnt himself, he turned and looked at the duo, ears perked up not sure if he heard it wrongly. The trio in the adjacent room also happened to have heard what she had said. Jason froze for a moment and the brothers both looked at him sneakily.

Liam continued to blush, "you can't use that when describing a man." he murmured but she managed to hear him.

"Oh, sorry, you just happend to remind me of someone who was exactly like you, he was like a young brother to me and he was so cute whenever he blushed just like you !"She explained.

Liam felt like a bucket of cold water had been splashed on him, young brother!!! He internally frowned.

They went on with small talk and James commented once in a while, soon the meal was served. Jenny was skeptical about it but decided to put into consideration James' efforts and she was bewildered when she tasted his signature dish. The meat was crispy and literally melted in her mouth. Being the food monster she was, she didn't stand on ceremony and devoured the meal hungrily leaving the men before her dripping cold sweat. James who had expected to have a share of his painstakingly prepared meal cried with no tears when the dishes were wiped clean by Jenny.

It was surely a monstrous appetite!!!!!

After the heartfelt meal, she thanked James for the meal and requested to leave Immediately. Liam went ahead to do the dishes since they had denied her offer to handle them. James kept reminding her about the do and don'ts to keep the wound from getting infected and situations to pay caution to just in case.

Jenny was walked out by James who was enthusiastically reminding her to come to them incase she needed help. Jenny only smiled and entered the elevator, this was the second time she had left this apartment,. apparently with a stuffed belly. Now life had meaning to it with food in the belly. Getting out at the lobby, she put on her blank expression as she recalled the attack on her. She had to contact her surbodinates and find out how they had managed to locate her when she hadn't even spent a month in this area.

Soon she managed to make her way to her apartment, the door was still unlocked just like she had left it that night. Briskly, she first inspected the house for any abnormalities, entering her room, she went and found her phone which was still on the charger. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened to her house however, she found fifty missed calls and seventy messages on her phone. It had literally been blown up. Taking in a deep breath, she sat on her cold bed comfortably and decided to go through everything. Twenty missed calls were from Grandma Rebecca, ten from Calvin, ten from either of the twins. 'They must be worried to death!!' she thought and a small smile bloomed on her face, atleast there were still people who cared for her. Checking her messages, one was a notification from the college she applied to and the others of course were from the mother hens!!

Back in the penthouse, Markus returned from an errand. Rushing towards Jason, he stood still like a soldier reporting on duty. Shifting his attention from the files in his hands, Jason got something from Markus's dog collar, it was a flash disk. He patted his head as a thank you and proceeded to check the information on the flash. It happened that he had a meeting with the president.

"Did things workout?" Travis asked curiously when he saw Jason's blank look.

"Mmm, we'll be having a continental meeting soon. Prepare all the things we need." he murmured sternly with a cold air engulfing this being.

"Right away Captain!!" Mike stood up and headed to the zip room in the penthouse. James frowned in displeasure. "Why now?!" He asked Jason.

"The earlier the better James!" Jason reprimanded him. James was the kind that liked playing with his prey.
