Chapter 4 - Survival

"Anyway, you want to survive in this world, right?"

"Yeah, so I've got a huge question, how the hell do I get weapons?"

"Hmm, I'll help you out with that if you pass my test, that alright with you?"

"Alright!"

Having agreed, Ray immediately sped up and started engaging in bare-handed close combat with Leonard and successfully managed to land a hit after failing to land several

targeted attacks even though Leonard made only a few simple dodging movements.

"Haaaa. Either I'm getting older or it must be a miracle because I'm pretty sure you managed to avoid almost all of my attacks except for one. I guess you're worthy of being shaped into a gem."(Ray)

"Though I'm pretty sure you know about it but you shouldn't in any circumstances reveal any details about your Random and Special Skills even if you trust that person. Only when that person is fully trustable to keep secrets to them and not betray you is when you should reveal a few things to them."(Ray)

"Now that I've briefed you, I am going to reveal essential information for you. Firstly, there have been 12 generations of newcomers until recently where your generation of Elgaians came so I guess it's currently 13 generations. Each generation introduction is followed by a Millenium Wait which is basically a 1000 years before the next generation comes in. I'm from the 5th generation and am one of the elite members of the 5th generation overlord faction [Ghosts]. There are countless cults, guilds and factions founded by strong members of their own generation. My faction is an intelligence selling organisation, we train and select people to find detailed information before selling it to clients. Of course, we keep the names of our clients and members secret. Each generation usually has a leading faction called overlord faction by other Elgaians."(Ray)

"I'm sure you're wondering how do we get to live this long. Well, all of us are semi-immortal in this place and we all possess pseudo-immortality as long as we don't leave our Origin Lands which are just large plots of land on this planet and can be at the size of a village or evem as big as an entire continent."(Ray)

"Of course, all of this is pretty valuable to you however, it is actually rather useless to most of us except the 12th generation. Also, I do want to ask whether you'd like to join us. With you level of skill, it should be no problem to become a squadron member or maybe even a squadron leader if you show more potential. But before that, allow me to introduce the overlord factions in order of which came first."(Ray)

"The first overlord faction is called the [Dominators]. They consider overwhelming quality over quantity which is the only reason why they still exist. Even the weakest skill that their weakest members possess is at Level 6. However, due to their recruitment tests being at a tremendously incredible level, they only possess around 400 members but every single one of them is qualified to be considered to be equal to a full Battalion of other overlord forces."(Ray)

"Next, we have the [Fallen Order] which is a incredulously large group of 2nd generation believers, despite their weak abilities, they are very strong when using entrapping techniques and pincering techniques. If you ever encounter them, I suggest you to run before they set up their battle formations. They are the largest overlord faction with the largest amount of members."(Ray)

"The 3rd generation overlord is called [Wrath], they are the second largest overlord faction among all of the overlord factions, they mainly consist of members who have berserker-like mentalities where whoever is stronger is king so they shouldn't be pissed off. If you ever kill any important member of theirs then you should expect yourself to be hunted down by at least four-fifths of their faction because they think that other than their leader, the rest of their members are as close to them as brothers. They are also the overlord faction who started the most wars against other forces."(Ray)

"The 4th overlord faction is called [Demons]. They have a close relationship with my faction and our members often work together on missions. They are incredibly skilled at close combat and excel at fighting above most limits. Their elite members are even able to fight equally with a Devil and are able to surpass bloodline limitations of the same level. They are also the faction with 3rd place in terms of least faction members. Also, my faction, theirs and the 6th overlord faction work pretty close."(Ray)

"Now, my faction, we are the 5th overlord faction. We [Ghosts] excel in assassination, stealth and hidden weapons. Our leader is exceptionally powerful. In fact, one needs to be at least within the top 5 of the elite member group to be able to refer someone. I'm actually a core member. Most core members have a title and mine is Phantom Steps. It's due to a combat step technique I created that I managed to get that title. "(Ray)

"The 6th overlord faction is called [Shamans]. They work hand-in-hand with us and Demons. Even core members of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overlord factions fear us when a member from each faction of ours form a squad. To join them, it is a requirement to change your mana to that of nature energy. They are proficient in confusion tactics, battle arrays, nature spells and manipulation of their surrounding area. Put simply, they are the best supporters. "(Ray)

"The 7th faction is called [Undead].

Theirs actually a story behind their faction. A long time ago, their generation leader led the entire generation to a forbidden ground where it is common to find treasures of the [Epic] standard and above. However, they simply weren't prepared for the horror that woukd rise up from that forbidden ground. By the way, there are 12 forbidden grounds currently and each one forms whenever a new overlord faction is pseudo-formed and unity between its members is achieved. We call the forbidden ground that the [Undead] walked into, the [Ancient Battlefield]. The reason being that the appearance of the forbidden ground being that of an abandoned battlefield between two powerful races which were equipped with superior technology and weaponry. The most common weapon found there would at least be of the [Rare] quality standard. In fact, most of the factions were alarmed when they found out that these two races had the technology to easily mass produce items of the [Rare] standard. However, during the expedition into that forbidden ground, the faction members accidentally woke up the undead corpses of that forbidden ground and was conpletely annihilated. Afterwards, when the 8th faction came into being, all of these faction members woke up and created a strict hierarchy where there are chiefs, leaders, lords and above all would be the Undead King and his advisor who were the ones that were still rational and intelligent. They are weak to almost all types of energy including mana, they are the 2nd largest faction and are the 4th strongest of all the overlord factions. It would be best to use holy magicand light magic. They are annoying to deal with because without destroying their brains, they are still able to live without any problems and their magicians who use [Necromancy] and dark-type magic are exceptionally difficult to kill, especially near battlefields, warzones and areas full of corpses since they would easily be able to resurrect the dead bodies as Zombies and Undead Skeletons which are immune to most mind-type and elemental-type magic as they would easily be able to resist it with the leftover corpse energy within them."(Ray)

"The 8th overlord faction is called [Nightmare]. The reason being that they have the ability to devour weakened souls. They consist of their own race and the only reason they survived until now is because of their race's strong talent in hiding. They are able to use the weakened souls of their enemies to improve themselves, there is a restriction on their race where they are unable to devour souls of those that they didnt kill. It would be horrible if otherwise since that would mean that if they found a steong soul of a leader or strong warrior of higher beings on the food chain and devour it's soul then they would get really stong, especially if they devoured a dragon's soul."(Ray)

"The 9th and 10th overlord faction consist of many different races and even contain members of the [Beastman] race. They recently signed a treaty called the [Union Of Races] agreement which has been acknowledged by the worldly laws. Respectively the 9th overlord faction is called [Hunters] and the 10th overlord faction is called [Myriad]."(Ray)

"The 11th overlord faction is called [Sanctuary]. They are actually very nice people who like peace and enjoy their lives even if its common. However, if you anger them, you will face a severe consequence of having to fight a race with completely no bloodline limits. They are also a racial overlord faction consisting of their own race and it is known that there are seals placed upon their bodies by the Creator but when enraged, these people will unlock their seals unconsciously and will put all their heart into pummelling their opponent.

There was once an incident where an entire village of these people were slaughtered, leaving only a single survivor at the tender age of 9. On the following day after the massacre, the perpetrators of that massacre were completely wiped out. Witnesses say that the child looked like a boy with red eyes, blood red hair and crimson fur with black wolf-like ears. The members of this race are often mistaken as [Beastman] however, they have more human-like faces and are called [Anima]. They possess incredible strength of B grade on average when enraged but usually have a strength on the level of D grade when calm. They are well versed in the art of [Body Stengthening], [Muscle Manipulation] and [Battle Transformation] along with [Quick Adaptation]. They dont usually use magic that often as there are hardly any within their entire race and it only constitutes of around 6 percent of their entire race."(Ray)

"Finally, we have the [Knights]. Their members excel in elemental magic and are the 5th strongest overlord faction. They are jack-of-all-trades and can adapt quickly in almost any situation because they have a very high acceptance standard and a grueling training for newbies to undergo. They specialise best in strategy making and the usage of traps."(Ray)

"Now, here's the question, will you join my faction, I'm willing to be your persinal instructor. If it's me, I can defitnely guarantee that with my training, you will at least become an elite squad leader."(Ray)
