Chapter 46

“Oh, no. As long as she knows where I am and Guillermo is with me, she won’t worry.” Sara’s big smile told him she was relieved to have a chance to change.

“Excellent.” Pauly smiled at her. “Then why don’t we meet back here, downstairs in the lobby, at about 10:15. That will give us enough time, won’t it?”

The club was dark and smoky. The band hadn’t started playing yet, so people just milled around and drank to get into the mood. Pauly, Sara, and Guillermo walked up to the bar.

“Shall I order for you?” she asked, trying to be a good employee.

“That would be great. I’d like a Scotch and soda with lots of ice. And get Guillermo and yourself whatever you want.”

Sara looked over at Guillermo, then stepped up to the bartender and ordered, “Una cervesa, un escoces y dos agua con gas y hielo. Mucho heilo.”

Pauly laid a large piece of currency on the bar.

“Oh, that it too much!” Sara objected.
