Then this. It wasn’t until she’d explained to him that she was working for the Department of Justice and that Cameron was a DEA/CIA operative under her control. It had taken him quite a while to become even slightly comfortable with that fact. He knew that Maggie did some consulting work in Washington, but he’d never imagined anything like this! In the last few weeks Maggie had called several times, but each time it was to say that she would stay just a little while longer. First it was until she talked to Cameron and found out what was happening. Then it was until the trial. After that it was until the sentencing, then the execution, but she might bring the body home to Massachusetts first. And now? Well, at least she was on her way home.

He craned his neck to see the passengers queued at the customs desks. He let out a sigh. There she was at last. She looked tired. Had she eaten? Did he need to stop for a bite to eat or would she prefer to order out and have something delivered?
