Borrowing a Face From a Pig

It was rare for investors to visit the films they funded. Just who would have thought that the CEO of Li Corporation would spare time in her busy schedule just to personally observe them? 

When the set was ready, the lead actor went into his position and waited for Lin Meirong to settle in hers. Everyone was ready but Lin Meirong couldn't help but look at Li Xiuying from afar. 

From where she was, she saw Li Xiuying looking at them in an arrogant position. Her eyes were slightly hooded, her hand supporting her chin up as she waited for the camera to roll. 

When she heard the slate, Lin Meirong forced herself to focus on her lines but was having a hard time because of Li Xiuying's presence. It took her time to shift to her role and say her lines. 

Si Yaoyao, Lin Meirong's character in the film, ran away from the mansion and from the engagement party of her best friend with tears spilling from her eyes. She had to witness her beloved man propose to the female lead in front of her eyes. She was the male lead's best friend since childhood and thought that once they grew up his feelings for her would develop. 

The male lead caught up with her and held her arm, refusing to let her go without an explanation. 

"Why are you crying? Why are you leaving? Yaoyao, if you're disappointed that I didn't tell you about my proposal, I'm sorry." He told her. The male lead tried to console her and wrapped her in an embrace. 

"You don't understand. You'll never understand…" Lin Meirong continued to cry in his arms. She accurately portrayed a woman who was helplessly in love with her best friend. 

"Tell me. What is it? Yaoyao, of all people you should know by now that I'll be the first one who'll believe you." The male lead continued to question her. 

"Why else? It's because I love you!" Si Yaoyao pounded her fists on his chest and wailed in misery. 

It was in that scene, Ye Yunxi (Lan Jinyao's character) found them. She was the fiancee and yet she found her man embracing another woman in his arms. Rage filled her chest as she strode towards them in fury. 

This must be the same feeling her Sister Ying felt like when she first discovered the affair between her husband and this whore!

She pushed Lin Meirong away from the male lead harshly before giving her heavy slaps on both sides of her face. Lin Meirong was shocked beyond words. Ever since she started her acting career, no one had slapped her at full force until Lan Jinyao did today. 

This bitch dared to lay a hand on her beautiful face? Lan Jinyao dared! 

Lan Jinyao was so absorbed in her role that she continued to hit Lin Meirong, pulling her hair painfully from her scalp which was not part of the script. Lin Meirong could only try to deflect her attacks with her arm as she cried in pain while the male lead tried to pull Lan Jinyao away from her. 

Both he and Lin Meirong were wondering why the director hadn't yelled 'Cut' yet? 

How were they to know that the director found Lan Jinyao's performance so convincing that he couldn't help but continue to film? Only when he heard the producer coughing awkwardly did he cut, finishing the take of the scene. 

However, it was already too late. Lin Meirong's face had red handprints printed on it with her hair disheveled from Lan Jinyao's attack. She looked deathly pale from Lan Jinyao's beating. 

She immediately ran back to her dressing room, refusing to accept the humiliation she suffered in front of Mu Jianyu's wife. 

"Is Miss Lin, alright? Will she be fine?" Li Xiuying asked the producer with subtle sarcasm that could only be distinguished by her Aunt Yue and her bodyguards.

"Nah, she'll be alright." The producer assured her. Lin Meirong should be unless she wanted to be called unprofessional. Soon, Lin Meirong's assistant called for a medic to have a look at her boss. 

The pressure of being watched by the CEO of Li Corporation must have driven Lan Jinyao to improve her acting skill today which was a good thing but it couldn't be said with Lin Meirong's performance. 

"What do you think of their performance today, Lady Li?" He asked her. 

Li Xiuying rubbed her chin and took a side glance to her aunt who didn't bother to hide her amusement over Lin Meirong's suffering. Ah, being slapped several times in a row, Lin Meirong's face must be swollen by now. 

The corner of Li Xiuying's lip curled up. She smiled innocently before lowering her eyes which were veiled with a hint of disdain threatening to consume her. Even if she had ten mouths, she wouldn't be able to explain what she truly felt at that moment. 

"Spectacular. I don't regret investing in your film. Now, I just can't wait to see the whole film," she answered. 

"Ah, since you invested in our film. It's only proper that we do our best to repay your kindness, Lady Li." Those were the producer's parting words before he left Li Xiuying with Zheng Yue and her two bodyguards. 

"Miss Ying, you should have seen Lin Meirong's face. She looked like she borrowed a face from a pig! Lan Jinyao really gave her a good beating this time!" Song Zexi whispered to her when they were out of everyone's earshot. 

"Really? Then maybe you should ask the director for a copy of that video. It must be impressive to see that scene on a huge screen," Li Xiuying chuckled. 

However, she wasn't quite done yet. She wondered if Lin Meirong would often think about how she ruined someone's marriage for her own advantage. Lin Meirong had stepped on so many people just to climb to the top. No matter how high she'd risen, it'll only take a matter of time before her downfall.
