Hunger

Lily was shy, but she knew that she had to at least compliment Asher back.

"I like the white stripes in your hair, it looks nice." She managed to say it.

" Huh? White stripes? " Asher turned to Elsa for confirmation.

"It is a new development, it was not there this morning," Elsa confirmed it.

"Who are you looking at? " Lily asked as she saw him turn away his head.

"Nobody, I was just a bit shy because of your compliment." Asher made a quick cover-up. " I don't think anybody will want to fight you after what they saw you do, so you will probably win all your matches by forfeit."

Lily heaved a sigh when she heard what Asher said, she didn't want to fight anymore, the first accident was already making her feel like throwing up.

Asher sat beside Lily for a little while, and just like he said when it was her turn, her opponent forfeited.

An hour passed since his first duel, and finally, his number came on the screen again.

"Good luck," Lily said to Asher.

"Thank you." He got up, stretching his body. Asher walked to the second ring from the right, where his number came on, this time he was here before his opponent.

After some seconds, his opponent came into the arena, he was a skinny boy. The boy was not holding any weapon, and the clothes on his body looked very stretchy.

The alarm went off and the fight commenced. The boy extended both his arms to catch Asher, his arms stretched across the whole arena.

"So that's the reason for the stretchy clothes." Asher dodged the incoming hands, but the hands kept bending in unusual directions.

"Since you want to piss me off don't blame me"

Asher caught one of the hands, and then quickly released a powerful blast of lightning. The lightning passed through the elastic boy's hands and met with his main body, electrocuting the boy.

"Argh," his elongated hands fell limp on the ground, as his body spasmed, the boy was barely able to stand straight.

Asher was on the other side huffing and puffing, that attack burnt a lot of his energy. He looked up at the still paralyzed boy, pointing his palm at the boy he gathered another huge amount of lightning.

He waited till the boy finally got his shit back together. "Give up now," Asher announced.

The boy looked up at Asher and saw the concentrated lightning in Asher's hand. He knew this was dangerous, but he believed that he would be able to dodge the attack with his elasticity.

He moved, and Asher fired the blast, but he was able to bend his body to dodge. He had just finished dodging the attack when he saw Asher already in front of him. Asher's fist crackled with lightning, not giving his opponent time to think, he punched him in the guts.

The elastic boy tried to make his abdomen elastic to absorb the blow, but the electricity In the punch caused him to lose control. His body shot back, landing outside of the arena, signifying Asher as the winner.

Asher felt happy, though he was exhausted. This was his second battle, though none of them were tough. He was getting the hang of manipulating lightning more easily.

He stepped down from the arena and came to meet Lily. Lily had three fights already, two of which her opponents forfeited due to fear. The other one was the one where she sent Ezra flying.

"Congrats," Lily said in her timid voice.

"Thanks." Asher sat beside her.

Lily had hardly been this close to anyone for this long, but she felt somewhat safe and comfortable beside Asher.

Asher who was oblivious to their thoughts of Lily was busy chatting with Elsa with his mind, since she could read his mind, Asher could convey his thoughts to her and she to him

"So what were you saying about my hair color change before the fight," Asher asked. Before his duel, he had asked her in his mind to explain, but then his number came up and they had to wait

"Well as I was saying, I am a white dragon. So when I take a human form, my hair is white. You now have my genes, so all of your hair will likely turn white."

"Though white hair doesn't sound bad, it might even be cool to be different, like how Lily's hair stands out. The question is what do I tell my mum."

"Just tell her it is due to your ability, simple," Elsa said.

"Well it is the truth, so I guess that will have to do." Asher was certain that his mum would know if he tried to lie to her.

More fights happened, till fate threw another of its pranks. After waiting for about half an hour, Asher and Lily got their next duels, but when they saw themselves walking to the same arena, they both knew they were opponents.

Everybody looked in the direction of their arena, hoping this next person would fight against the girl whom everybody was scared of facing.

As soon as they got on the stage, Asher was about to announce his giving up, partly because he was scared of Lily and they just became acquainted, so he didn't want to fight.

Before he could say it, Lily spoke out, forfeiting the duel. Everybody was surprised that she was the one who gave up and not the other way around.

As they came down, Asher spoke to her. "Why did you give up, it would have been logical for me to give up, you are stronger."

Lily refused to answer his question, walking back to the corner to sit. Asher didn't push it, he went back to sit down beside her.

When the other test takers saw this, they began saying that Asher had somehow bribed her to not fight with him. They all began throwing looks of disgust at Asher. Asher saw this and his blood boiled, this was the type of look he received all through his life, a look that he so very much hated.

"Just wait, I'll pummel the next opponent I meet into the ground." Asher decided to take out his rage on his next opponent, but all that rage died away the moment he heard a sound.

*Rumble*

Asher's stomach spoke the ancestral language that translated to hunger.
