10 Lily Crosswell

There was no seat in the room, so Asher went to lean on the walls. He needed to catch his breath before it was time for the next fight.

"You did well, but you expended more energy than needed. " Elsa said.

" I'm new to this. " Asher responded.

"True, but from this first fight what have you learned? "

Asher began pondering, he wanted to see what he had learned from the fight.

"My opponent relied on his spear too much, so whenever I can get passed it, he won't be able to effectively fight. Though he knows basic combat, like when he blocked my kick, he was unable to capitalize on it and land a hit. " Asher gave his best analysis on the fight.

"What you said is true and wrong, he is not just relying on his spear. The issue is that unlike you, he is unable to channel and easily control his ability. The spear helps him direct his ability, so that is why he relied on it heavily."

"Shouldn't it be easier to output just through the body? " Asher asked.

"Not for many, as their ability is such that might harm them if they use their body to channel it recklessly like you," Elsa said.

"If it is dangerous then why did you allow me to do it? "

"Didn't you hear what I said, these is something that happens not to everyone. Some people's bodies can withstand the stress of abilities than others." Elsa explained.

"So I have a higher resistance to lightning?"

"Yes, and it's probably because you have my genes running through your body, it's evolving your body. " Elsa said.

Asher simply nodded, he knew he would not be here if not for Elsa.

As Asher spoke with Elsa, he saw a fight that he would be interested in. Ezra had climbed into the arena, he was about to take on a girl with white hair.

The girl was small and looked timid. Like Ezra, she didn't hold any weapon. Asher turned his attention to the fight, he wanted to see if Ezra was a wimp through and through. Asher still remembered how he ran away when he fought back.

"That girl is dangerous," Elsa said while looking at Ezra's opponent.

"Huh? Really? She doesn't look it." Asher responded.

"I feel an enormous amount of Meta in her body, her rather frail-looking body is tough. It contains a power that makes even me feel intrigued."

"Really? She is that strong?" Asher said with shock in his eyes.

"I estimate her winning in less than a minute I think that Ezra will not be able to fight anymore if he takes a full-on attack from her."

Asher drew in a cold breath, he knew that Elsa had probably lived a long life and seen countless powers, so for her to speak highly of this girl, then she was the real deal.

And just like Elsa predicted, when the battle started, Ezra shot to the girl, but it didn't go as he planned. When Ezra was in close combat range, he punched out, but when his punch was about to land, purple-black energy exploded from the girl's body.

The energy threw Ezra out of the arena, colliding with the walls of the room. Ezra fell unconscious, his clothes were burnt up, and his body burned up badly.

"Shit!" Asher cursed when he saw Ezra getting blasted away. Everybody in the room stopped what they were doing, even the duels came to a halt. All the eyes moved to the boy who had blasted away, and then to the smallish-looking girl who had done it.

Asher looked at the girl, he realized that the girl was looking scared and shocked.

"She isn't in full control of her ability, she probably didn't intend to go that far," Elsa said.

"She is the one who scored 412," Asher commented.

Medics were brought to the room, and after checking Ezra, they decided he would need to be admitted. He would not be participating in the test anymore. Once he was taken out, the other duels continued.

Asher could not help but feel bad, he didn't like Ezra, but this was something else. The burns on his body were on another level, it didn't seem like that of fire, the girl's power was something unique.

The girl ran down the arena, went to a corner, and began crying, she didn't expect to send the boy to the hospital, nobody attempted to comfort her because of fear.

"Go and talk to her," Elsa said.

"Why?" Asher like others was a bit apprehensive of the girl

"She is powerful but lacks control, and she seems emotionally unstable. If you provide her with help and comfort, you will be making yourself a powerful ally." Elsa explained.

"That's true, with you here, I am sure we can assist her with her control." Asher could say this was manipulation, but it would be a symbiotic relationship at least.

Asher stood up and walked to the girl, he was still apprehensive though. When he got to where she was balled up crying, he sat down beside her.

"Hello"

The girl raised her head to look at Asher, she stared at him not saying anything.

"I am Asher, Asher Terron."

When he spoke his name the girl's eye had a little spark in it.

"Are you related to the elite named Terron, that died some years back?"

Asher didn't expect her to bring up his dad, but he decided to answer truthfully and gain her trust.

"Yes, I am. I am his son."

When she heard Asher, she buried her head into her knees, speaking in a low tone. "I am sorry."

Asher was confused. "For what?"

"Your dad led a team to fight a beast wave that almost destroyed the orphanage that I lived in, he saved me from a beast, but he didn't make it out." The girl had begun sobbing.

"Oh, you don't have to be, it's not your fault." Asher could only scoff at his dad, this girl was thinking he died trying to save her when all that was a smokescreen.

"It is," she said sobbing even more.

"Well if you want to apologize, then start by telling me your name."

She tried to stop her crying, she stuttered out her name. "Lily Crosswell."

"That's a beautiful name, Lily," Asher said, causing her face to turn slightly red, she looked away quickly.

Asher was confused, why did she react like that?

"Congratulations on your first flirt Asher," Elsa said while giggling.

"Flirt?" Asher thought for a second before understanding what she meant, he had given such a compliment to a girl. He felt his face get hotter, he shook his head, trying to get the thought out of his head.

Lily managed to compose herself, "thank you."

Asher nodded in response, he was still struggling to get his head from the clouds.

After settling down, Asher spoke. "Lily, I think I can help you control your ability."

Lily looked up in shock "Really? But aren't you scared of me?"

"How can I be scared of someone this cute." As he said that, Lily's whole head got red. Asher saw this, he realized what he had just said.

"Fuck, what is wrong with me?"

Elsa could not hold herself anymore, she was rolling on the ground laughing.
