Real Mother and Name Is Learned.

Kurayami, Artemis, and Shin appeared in the middle of the wilderness of Alaska surrounded by a burning fire. Artemis glanced around as this was the place Atlas and Luke teleported. She collected the fire in another orb as the trace ended here.

"Kurayami, I think this just because more difficult. It is like he knows we are hunting him, yet he does not care. He is leading us on a wild goose chase."

He raised his hand and used time and space magic to see what happened here, but he failed. His magic was destroyed shocking both him and Artemis. She knew that to oppose Kurayami it would take the power of a Dragon God and higher.

"Is it possible that you made a mistake?"

He shook his head as he looked around.

"Not possible. I have perfect control over my magic and powers that I can not make an error. Something as strong as me got in my way."

Artemis drew her bow as she looked around.

"That should be impossible. Unless Great Red had something to do with it."

Kurayami shook his head.

"No, Great Red keeps to himself in the Dimensional Gap. He would not bother at all, so this was done by something else. Do you know about Satanael?"

Nyx and Hades knew about the deal Satanael had made, but the other gods had not.

"No. Who is he?"

Kurayami whistled as he tried to attract some animals. While he did that he started to explain slightly what had happened.

"Well, he used to be a member of Grigori who turned traitor. He used his sacred gear searcher to begin to study other dimensions. When we encountered him he claimed to have made a deal with an extradimensional entity for power. I think he is behind this."

Artemis did not know much about extradimensional entities, but she had remembered when god fought Algor. The strongest demon to ever enter this world and that battle went down in history as God proved his might.

"Is he like Algor, the demon sealed in your finance Esdeath?"

Just as he was about to nod, he saw a grizzly bear cub running toward him. Kurayami walked up to it and picked it up. The cub was shivering in fear and was crying. Artemis saw that Kurayami had a soft spot for animals that he lacked for people. They had never betrayed or hurt him as people had after all.

"Little guy, what is wrong?"

The bear looked up at him and started to make some terrified and scared sounds. The more that the two of them heard the more they knew it was time to stop playing.

"Satanael came here to take Atlas and Luke. He killed the cub's mother as he knew that I can talk to animals. Seems he missed this little guy though."

Artemis saw that Kurayami decided to stop playing around. He spread his senses all over America and he saw many things. He saw that Zesshi nearly destroyed Camp Half-Blood as most of it was burning. Nymphs and Demigods rushed to put out fires, while Apollo was crying at the sight of his crashed car.

Most of the girls were just fine as a crash like that would not even hurt them. As for Zesshi, she was sitting playing around with her Rubix cube once again. Akeno was sitting next to her as she controlled the storm clouds to make rain to put out the fires.

That was funny as Dionysus was sitting next to a burning building that he would dip some marshmallows into. That was pretty funny, but not what he was looking for. He searched around for any traces of destruction or of Satanael, but he found nothing.

Artemis saw how his face was focused so she asked him what he saw.

"Did you find anything? Any leads?"

He shook his head.

"No, nothing. It seems that Satanael is more careful than I thought. He is hiding the actions of Atlas from my senses. Shin, be careful. He is after you."

Shin knew that Satanael wanted to take him, but that was easier said than done. Kurayami and Shin had a link that would e nearly impossible to sever. Even if Kurayami died and reincarnated, Shin would follow.

Rebellion and Submission appeared next to Kurayami as they could feel that he was getting restless. Submission grabbed his left hand to keep him still.

"Master, relax. You need to keep your focus."

Rebellion held his cheeks and looked him in the eyes.

"My sister is right. Just look for the clues. He might have hidden something from your gaze, but what can he not hide from you."

Artemis did not say a thing, but she could feel these two were not alive per se. They were weapon spirits that had a body, but they were not really living. Hearing the words of his most trusted partners, he sat down to focus.

"I can't see him, smell him, hear him or locate him. What can he not hide from me?"

Kurayami started to pet the little bear that did not want to leave his hold. Kurayami snapped his fingers as he knew what Satnael could not hide from him.

"Death. He cannot hide the fact that humans are dying on mass. I got it."

Artemis was interested in what he meant.

"What do you mean he can't hide death from you?"

Kurayami pointed at his head.

"My soul is like a mass of death energy for some reason. I have never explored it much as I did not have the means to do it. Now, I think I can locate hotspots of mass dying."

Just as Kurayami was going to do it, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his neck. It was all too fast for him to react to, but they did nothing more than hug him tightly. He felt as if all his bearings were destroyed as he felt limp in that hold.

"You got it so soon. I knew you had it in you my son."

Death finally found the best chance to finally meet her one and only son. As for Rebellion, and Submission, they both felt something from Kurayami's soul. It was like it was at peace and stopped writhing. Artemis felt pure dread when she saw the young girl that was hugging Kurayami.

She fell to her knees as this was no avatar. This was Death's real body as she did not want to meet her son with just an avatar. Kurayami reached up and removed his sunglasses as he looked up at her.

She looked so young, but her facial features were similar to his. Her sclera was the blackest shade of black he had seen and her hair seemed to follow that trend. Her armor felt comfortable to the touch despite it being made of the very Abyss she was born from.

"I am your son?"

Kurayami did not even know what to think right now as his soul felt the most calm it had ever been. This was a pure resonance that souls as closely linked as theirs had. They had a connection that was deeper than the one Ophis had with him.

She smiled as she finally got to hold her baby for the first time. The first time she made his soul and existence her soul nearly devoured him. She sent him away for the simple fact it was not possible for her to stay with him.

As for the life of suffering he had led, she knew that he might hate her for allowing it, but she did it for his own sake. She was Death itself and she saw how many deaths he could have.

It was impossible to have zero risk, but she choose the one that would see him have the biggest chance at life. His first life was the fire that burned everything weak away from him and the second was the hammering he needed.

She just did not plan for him to get this far so quickly.

"I am sure you have many questions. I have all the time."

He looked down and felt her hold become tighter around him. She had only ever held him for a moment before she nearly killed him. She was taking that chance to remember how much love she felt for the small soul she held in her hands.

"Why was I even born? That is my biggest question."

She created an area of silence around them as she was speaking in the Primodirla tongue now. If she spoke that in this world it would kill everything in this world. Only Kurayami and those linked to him were safe from that.

"I ask myself that myself Abhaiond'endan. That is the name I choose for you when I made you. I wanted a child, but not in the normal sense. I made your soul from the most treasured material I had. My own soul."

Hearing his real name seemed to have set off a chain reaction in his mind. Ophis who was connected to it was teleported here as Death knew that Ophis had saved him from several possible deaths without trying.

By giving him her bloodline and power, she had ended the chance of him dying for a long time. At the moment, the biggest threat he had was the god that was screaming to destroy this world.

"Ophis, I am glad you could make it. I am Death, Kurayami's or as I named him Abhaiond'endan's mother. Nice to meet you."

Ophis looked at Kurayami who seemed to be in a kind of happy mood. She could feel that he was full of wonder about himself and his mother. He loved Shuri as she had given him a body, but that seemed inferior to giving up part of her soul to make him.

"Are you curious why I let you suffer in your first life?"

He nodded.

"I have always wondered that myself. Why did I suffer so much? Why?"

She looked ahead at the sky of this world.

"This was the best outcome for you. I had many chances to give you a normal childhood, but most of those ended with your death. I had many plans, but that first life was important as it was the path with the least chance of death."

Ophis looked at Kurayami with some wonder.

"You say that his first life of misery and pain was for the best?"

Death nodded.

"If I choose any other path for you, it would have long since resulted in your death or worse. I even chose the world I sent you carefully."

This was one of the most common worlds for gods to send people they wanted to reward with a happy life. Death choose it for a very different reason. She knew that he needed somewhere stable to recover after the harsh fire of his first life.

She had seen many men sent to copies of this one and become lustful beasts. He was different as while he had a harem, it was actually very small compared to the harems human kings could have.

She was glad he did not choose for looks as he had other criteria. Power was one thing she could respect. This world also had several opportunities that would help him in his future path to the top.

"I planned to have some of my servants raise you, you know. I can show you what would have gone wrong if I did that."

She raised her hand and showed a giant being perched on a throne of skulls. Oceans of blood rained down as endless battle appeared around him. A pyre of burning souls lit the whole realm as Knorne watched on."

Kurayami could feel the power of this being even though Khorne could not feel them.

"This is one of my more recent servants. His name is Khorne, the God of Blood and Skulls. I wanted to send you to him so he could train you himself. It would have ended badly."

Ophis, Kurayami, Rebellion, and Submission looked as more skulls were added to his throne. Kurayami was curious.

"What would have happened?"

Death sighed.

"He would have done too good of a job. You would become powerful, but mindless blood drunk. Here is another one of my servants."

The image changed to a skeleton in a black dress. She looked more like death than Death herself.

"Her name is Mistress Death. I allowed her to take my name as her strength is real. Her father had to ask me for permission to make use of my power to create her. If I sent you to her, you would become cold and emotionless."

Kurayami sighed as it seemed his first life was important.

"So this is the best course of action?"

Death nodded as she even planned for him to be given to Zeref, another one of her secret servants. Only that he was not suitable for the task. In the state Kurayami was at the start of his creation, it would have killed him. He was very unstable. It was why she choose to send him to a normal version of Earth before she sent him here.

"Now let me explain what I did and why. I am not all-knowing and it is why I kill any being that claims to have Omniscience and Omnipotence. I have killed untold billions of them and the end result always is the same. Nothing can be either and neither am I."

Kurayami sighed as things got complicated.

"I am shocked, to say the least."

She nodded and hugged him tighter.

"Maybe so, but I will explain. After I created your soul, my soul nearly devoured it back. I had to send you off before you were destroyed. Your first world was a version of Earth that was always dark and cold. it tempered you and made you cold and emotionless. This world is full of chances to find happiness so it evened out the darkness you amassed."

She placed her palm over his heart.

"It was also the right one to get you to become stronger. I was careful with who would create your body and I found you becoming a Fallen Angel at the start was for the best. Ophis, you gave him the best thing you could and I thank you."

Ophis just accepted it.

"If you did it all for his best interest, I will hate you less."

Death smiled at the idea.

"I can't stay much longer, but I will stay in touch. Now, Abhaiond'endan or Kurayami. I will respect your choice of what to be called."

He was attached to the name Kurayami, but Abhaiond'endan was the name that was marked on his very soul.

"Mother, you may call me Abhaiond'enda. Everyone else will call me Kurayami. Just answer my question. Did you ever love me?"

She placed her chin on his head like he did for Nyx.

"I would not have looked after you for all this time if I didn't my son."

She let go of him and kissed his forehead. She started to speak in the primordial tongue and said a prayer for him.

'May the blessing of Death follow your way. May the killing you spread bring you gains.'

She backed away as she started to vanish into the shadows.

"Be a better parent than I could be. I wanted nothing more than to be a good mother and I failed. Maybe I can be a good grandmother though."

She vanished which made him feel a little empty. He just met his mother and reason for existence and she left.

'She does love me.'

Artemis had not heard the last parts as she was too scared. He called out to her to focus.

"Artemis, snap out of it."

She up at him with shock.

"I see your mom is just as scary as you are."

Kurayami felt more at peace than he ever did. He might have wasted time, but he felt it was worth it.

"Come on, I am in a good mood."

Artemis stood up as she knew he had a lead.

"Where?"

Kurayami could feel a mass dying in Texas, more importantly, Dallas as Atlas was massacring the city of a million.

"Dallas, Texas. Atlas is going on a binge and is feasting on souls. Somehow Satanael is keeping it hidden mostly. If this goes on, Atlas will ascend to a higher state of being if he has been given power. Come on, this is exciting."

Artemis knew that he was not normal, but his mother was Death so it was to be expected. She returned to her adult form which was a tall, busty woman with Moonlight in her hair. Thin armor made from moonlight appeared over her body.

"Let's go."

They both teleported to what would soon be the epicenter of a world-destroying battle. This would be the first time Kurayami would meet a foe that could push him past his limits since he became a Dragon God and Satanael was ready to come out of hiding.

He wanted Shin to give Kurayami's soul as a tribute to his dark master. His master was hungering for this world and Kurayami's soul. Death's power was irresistible and she was not going to step in to save him. She loved him, but coddling him would ruin him. He needed to be stimulated and this was the best way possible.

In Kurayami's first world, comics were mostly not a thing. It was a kind of dystopia with a lack of that stuff. Also, prepare for a truly awesome battle.
