Life Could Be a Dream

A promise once made cannot be broken, they said. But to those who choose to deal with the absolutes, how many more have they cast aside for their dream? Sacrifices are to be made, of course. Only so much can ever be set emotionally before logic takes place. Yet, for all that is and isn't, what would be left if there cannot be what could ever be?

I'm the only one, Sweetheart

After 10 minutes or so...

"Hahaha, you sure make the wildest of jokes~" Nicole smiled, drinking a boba tea as she held onto Molly's shoulder.

"That's what everyone tells me every day..." he replied, smiling as well.

"Really? No wonder you're so close with everyone you meet!" she commented, giggling shortly after.

The city, aside from the usual anti-gravity emitters, happens to have flying cars- an invention that was dreamed of by the people two decades back. Sure, there were still people skeptical about its use, but the government has been able to prove them wrong, further improving their technology past the prediction futurists had presumed.

A bunch of them were whizzing by, akin to a group of insects attracted to a garbage can.

"So uhhh, where's your apartment?"

".... W-what?"

It was a question Molly wanted to avoid, a question so important that all he could say to her was a simple "what". Like a knee-jerk reaction, his response to the confusion was that word.

"I said, where's your apa-"

"Yeah, yeah, I know... just...."

He knows that he shouldn't tell her about the godforsaken thing that is his apartment, asking what and how she would respond. His thoughts about her being in his house just make his body electrified in nervousness. His face slowly grew red at the thought of her being in his bed, sleeping.

"H- how would she-?"

"Uhh, heyyyy~~ You're spacing out again..." Nicole said, tapping his cheeks as she makes a slight frown.

The girl is slowly slumping on his shoulder, planting her face as she tries standing up.

"Oh, I must've drank a bit too much..." she muttered.

"Do you want to go to my apartment? You could... uhhh.."

Again, those thoughts made their way into his spinning head. Making him blush a bit more. But he had to remove those "deviousness" and shook his head physically, gulping and clearing his throat.

"You could, erm, sleep in my place if you want. Your house must be a bit far from here, no?"

"Y-yeah... it's far... very far..." she replied.

The two make their way near a taxi, with Molly waving his hand to stop the vehicle.

Helping her to get inside the car, the driver looks behind them.

"Where 'ya lads headin' to?" the driver said, their voice masculine, having a very rough Irish accent.

"23rd Street, the new construction hotel... or whatchamacallit" Molly responded, scratching his head.

"Oh, you mean Java Comonis, mate?"

"Y-yeah, that one..."

"Give 'er ten minutes, be there in a jiffy! Listen to some tunes, for now, mates, 'ya can also change 'ye song if 'ya feel like it...." the driver said, showing an interface with a long playlist of songs, each genre color coded.

Molly glanced at Nicole, gesturing for her to choose what song to listen to.

"Really? Me?" she tries to confirm the message.

"Yeah, didn't you tell me you had a taste for music? Why not prove that now?" he replied sarcastically, giggling shortly after.

"Fine then..." she said smugly, choosing Haddaway's song "What Is Love".

The two bopped along with the music, the same with the driver.

Making their way into the other parts of the city, multiple lights went past them as they see multiple casinos amidst the road. There were arenas and infamous landmarks, with each one getting closer and closer to the pictures found in a magazine or those on some particular website advertising them.

Angles worth of photoshopping and sightseeing, the cold breeze flowing through as Nicole brings the car windows down to look at the stars, under the chilly night.

Four minutes in, Molly slowly starts to ever slightly balter, making slight glances at Nicole to make sure she doesn't see his 'weird' movements.

Though the stress of the work may have put a needle in his throat, meeting and having a date with this particular woman made it dissipate under the waters of joy and fun.

"Simply enjoy life as it is," they said, basing it on that old meme from the 21st century. Seeing the same people he goes to work with say the same sentence as if they know what life had it going for them as if they're the know-it-all smarty pants who can predict the future, only to fail miserably.

Maybe it had been a while since he hadn't felt the feeling of joy under one's company. Like he had slept in a bed of nails, woken up by a princess in a long white dress, wearing a smile on her face as she hold her hand out and awaits his response.

As he holds her hand, the pale princess takes him into a castle of the night floating in the sky. It was littered with all kinds of stars, glitters of the nebulous galaxies plastered all over the empty black canvas.

The two amble on and about the castle, her hand locked along with him, showing him the paintings of old, trinkets of the ancient past, and thingamajigs long in the tooth. They continue to mosey along the museum of sorts, before ending up at a jukebox where she pulls a disc.

Placing it into the slit, the old music player began to perform its long-life purpose it had been given, and slowly spins the disc as the pale princess gently placed down the needle.

Soon, the sound of the machine slowly brought the hidden music in the disc outward, blooming the entire castle with the sounds of pure bliss as it spreads like a wave of happiness washing over Molly. Drowning him in the depths of love as the princess takes his hand to dance the night away.

They hold each other, the princess pirouettes as he holds her before bringing her close as he smiles in delight, laughing at their mistakes.

As their eyes met, only the feeling of being together remained.

Baltering through the night, the two held each other's hands in the car, with Nicole sleeping on his shoulder.

Pickles with blue cheese are my staple food from now on!
