The Sky Above and Earth Below, Tangled by a Fate

Like the winds of the sea are the winds of fate. As we voyage along through life,

Tis the set of the soul that decides its goal. And not the calm or the strife - (Ella Wheeler Wilcox)

The night breeze was so cool that night, a guy in black leather jacket seemed to enjoy it during his night walk. In his origin, this would be impossible to enjoy. He had a really rough day that day. But it felt like milliseconds for him compared with His Existence time. Though millennia already changed, the patterns were still the same. Emerged, Existed, and Exit. Men were born (emerged), grew up (existed) and died (exit). So did the trends they made which grew with their existence.

He had been watching a new era come, existed then replaced with another one. He saw so many heroic mortals live on earth but after their lifespan ended, they would eventually meet Him again on His Realm. He saw many civilizations came and died, one by one. He often felt bored of it. But it was also His Duty to make sure everything ran in balance. He looked up at the sky and wondered. The above and below had their own responsibilities. They all had specific roles and burdens and nothing would taste the same. They were here in order to make universe in balance.

He suddenly stopped His step after seeing a familiar figure passing by him.

"Siming." He called and turned around.

There was a beautiful young lady behind him. She bowed and greeted Him.

"Lord Yanluo. I am Xú Huá." said her.

"Ah.. So this year your name is that?" asked Him.

She nodded.

"Ah… you guys definitely give me a headache remembering all of your names." He just sighed and shook His Head.

The lady laughed beautifully. "Just call us as you want, Lord Yanluo."

"Well, I bid a farewell to you, Lord Yanluo." She just continued her words quickly.

But before the lady walked away, Yamla stopped her.

"Wait.. Can I ask you a favor?"

The lady was frozen for a second. Actually this moment was already foreseen. But it still made her nervous at the moment it happened. She cleared her throat.

" I know that it will happen, Lord Yanluo. I've seen it before. ''

She paused Her talk and while looking for the right words to say. She couldn't answer Him recklessly.

"But Death must not get involved in a lifespan thread, My Lord. It is forbidden for us to get involved in each other's hands. Too many hands on the table could ruin the order." She warned Yamla respectfully.

"I know, but it's also a favor of WaHuang."

After hearing the name, the lady hesitated and couldn't say anything. It seemed that two powerful and respectful figures asked her the same favour. She was stuck in a very tight situation.

"Very well, then, Lord Yanluo. We will see what we can do about it first. I believe we will meet again very soon." She finally answered Him deliberately.

He nodded. He understood that She might need time to manage that favor. He didn't want to corner Her in the first time They met.

"Okay, then. Till we meet again, Siming."

As expected before, Mr. Liu was furious with her paperwork. Mr. Liu was a (super) senior journalist in Xin Wei Media (XWM). He was Mr. Wei's best friend and co-founder of XWM. He was a perfectionist but brutal honest person. Almost half of the trophies on the ground floor "hall of fame" were his. When XWM turned into online media, Mr. Liu was disagree and refused to be in charge to that revolution. To prevent his resignation, Mr. Wei just gave him position to be director of quality control of every stories which would be published. Now Xi was on his palm to be crushed by him.

"DO YOU THINK THESE SH**TY THING YOU GAVE ME IS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE SOLD??? DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING LEFT IN "HERE"?" He shouted while pointed at her and rudely pushed Xi's head with his fat fingers.

At the moment he yelled at Xi, every eyes on that room were immediately pinned on them. Some pitied her. But the almost all of them were just startled then got back continuing their own work.

Xi didn't answer him. But deep down in her heart, she wanted to hit him really hard and cursed him. This capitalist mid-aged man was definitely barbarian who didn't even mind to humiliate anybody under his position when he was not satisfied.

"THROW THESE PAPER TO THE TRASH. NOW YOU GO TO THE KWANGJU POLICE OFFICE THEN FIND ANY BETTER CASE THAN THESE CRAPPY WORKS!"

His bearded face turned red every time he used his energy to shout at the people. He just threw the paper to Xi's face and got her really mad.

"Are you even a human? You don't even act like one" she spoke directly in front of Mr. Liu with her deep voice. She spoke with her cold expression but her eyes sparked fire.

"WHAT??"

Before Mr. Liu could continue his words, Xi already picked the papers on the floor and walked away. The rest of people in the room just dropped their jaws seeing what just happened.

Xi finally arrived at the police office an hour before lunch break. Luckily, she still managed to buy snacks as the offering for the officer. A must-to do rite to maintain the good relation with them. At the moment Xi arrived at the police office, the fat officer called Mr. Big greeted her.

"Xi Yuan!" He smiled ear to ear when he saw Xi bringing boxes of donuts. Then Xi gave him a box of it.

Xi sighed but awkwardly smiled to him.

"Wow, Mr. Big. You definitely live your name. You are getting bigger and bigger than the last time I saw you." She said it with flat expression while taking care of her camera.

HA HA HA HA.... He laughed and tried to hit Xi, but she avoided his fist quickly.

"Any special crime, for today, Mr. Big?" she finally spoke her special line

As usual, after Xi spoke her special line, Mr. Big's merry face turned annoyed.

"What is special in crime, you little brat? Ckckkc... Just go inside. There was new comer from the headquarter. Both of you must be in the same age. You could make a friend with him."

She smiled mischievously then walked inside the office.

She bowed casually to the officers she met. Captain Cheng was on the field, Xi bet. He was not on his chair. All the officers was gathered around seeing something or someone. They were awing something and the excitements were shown from their suspicious behavior.

She knocked on the wall to make noise. But nobody seemed to hear her knock.

She decided to move closer and joined the crowd. In the middle, there was new young guy in jeans jacket showing the older man officer the pictures of latest Harley Davidson motorcycle.

She sighed.

"So this is officer's job in the middle of the day? ah.. no wonder." she mocked them and nodded.

All officers in the crowd just looked at her and yelled.

"HEYYY, XI YUAN. It is lunch break!!!!" they protested what Xi said before.

But they immediately got back to their chair and got ready to their lunch bento.

"Where are the donuts?" Officer Bing asked her suddenly.

All officers already knew that every time Xi visited, she brought donuts for them.

She just pointed the boxes and they just casually walked to the boxes and each of them took it.

The new guy just looked at her with his cold face and no smile there. He is tall guy with sharp jawline. His trendy top- to- toe outfit and bleached hair were not suitable to any officer. Quite a celebrity material. Nobody would believe if he was a police officer. But one thing Xi knew for sure, this guy was completely rude. After he saw her, he just got back to his chair without saying anything.

"Hey, Xi. Come here. This is our new guy." said Officer Huang, whose desk was beside that new guy's desk.

Xi moved closer. After being casually introduced by Officer Huang, the new guy reached out his hand. She hated him instantly for his rude behavior. She didn't realize yet that actually she was not different from him.

"Jasper Chu."

They shook each other hand. Two cold persons were being acquaintance. But they hated each other already, in a very weird way.

In a place far far far away, Xú Huá was in Her tribe robe. A silver robe with a peacock embroidery on its back. She got too attached to Her book and looked at a name for too long.

"Xi Yuan".

But as the breeze passed Her, She just looked at the distance, like She foresaw something. Her serious face turned into a smile, like She just got an epiphany.

"Here we go."
