Chapter 11:

'And if you fail, you have to completely surrender your country and your people without any hesitiaion.' he replied.

There it is, she thought. The big catch...

Everyone went silent for a moment.

Maguire did expect this but didn't know what to say at that moment.

Anything she says will be held against her anyway.

She exhaled deeply.

'We will win.' is the only thing she said before waking up and leaving the hall.

One of the peacekeepers laughed boisterously.

'We will see about that!'

'Done!' Kara chortled.

She felt so proud that she actually did something completely on her own.

Well, not completely, with his help of course, and Peanut's help too.

But she put in most of the work.

'Good. Now go and nail all the blocks like I mentioned in the blueprint.' he replied.

Good? Only good for the hard unpaid labor she did? And why is he giving her more work?, her thoughts circled around her head like vultures.

'Hey! no thank you or please?' she asked angry.

He scoffed.

'THANk YOU YOUR ALMIGHTINESS! NOW CAN YOU GO AND NAIL ALL THE WOOD !?' he yelled.

She snickered. He looked like a kid throwing a tantrum when he gets angry.

It's cute, she thought.

'Fine...you dumb kid.' she snickered.

'Anyways...what are you going to do with this?' she asked.

'Like I told you, I'm going to spray chemicals in a larger scale to make it rain.'

'Then why not make food grow too?' she asked.

He looked at her confused.

'What?'

'If you make it rain, why not plant seeds and make it rain and grow food?' she asked.

'Well, yeah I could. But the soil is dry, you need continous water, and we don't have a lot of time.' he replied.

'Then why do you make it rain if you're not going to harvest or save anything?'

'hmm...beccause your mother will kill me if I don't?'

'That...sounds logical.' she ended the conversation.

There was an awkward silence around the room for a long time. He worked with some potions and she nailed the blocks with the help of Peanut.

It was hard, but not as hard as sword training.

3 hours passed, and the silence was still present.

Finally, Cyran decided to break the sickening silence.

'Where is Groth?'

'Huh?' she asked surprised.

'My watch, where is it?'

'In my room...'

'Did you do anything with it?' he asked, a little jumpy.

'Yes.'

'What?' he asked as if he was going to pass out any minute now.

'Yes, me and peanut tinkered it a little and found out something.'

'Wh-what?'

'We found out that...'

'Yes??'

'That it's too advanced for us.' she grinned.

He frowned.

'Haha very funny. Give me back my watch!' he ordered.

'No.' she denied.

Ugh!! This princess is so annoying and stubborn, what am I going to do with her?? he screamed internally.

'Are all princesses like this?' he asked.

'Like what?'

'Angry, annoying, stubborn, forcing poor boys to do things without adequate time and material...'

The other princesses. No they aren't like that at all. All they do is sit down and gossip about all the unncessary things in the whole wide world.

Like boys, make-up, dresses, marriage, war.

And she isn't included in it.

She huffed from annoyance. Well, they all aren't warrior princess like me, so they can suck it, she cursed them quietly.

'so they aren't?'

'No peasant boy, not all of the princesses are like me, stubbornness and bravery runs in our blood.' she banged her chest.

'Well that explains some things.' he muttered under his breath.

'Hey what the hell did you say?' she turned to him.

'Ah nothing! just good things about you and your mother.' he plastered a wide smile.

Finally, after hours of research and building, they created the chemical mixture, the plane's uncritiqued model and the blueprint and plan.

Now Cyran was as relieved as ever.

'Ah, this has to be one of the most amazing thing ever. I'm sure as hell I can impress your mother with this. Now all I need is to fly this once to check if it's been properly built and I can live again.' he smiled.

'cool, so you'll leave after showing my mother?' she asked feeling a little down.

Her only friend she made in this past 12 hours aside peanut is going to leave so soon?

'Well, the thing is, I don't have anywhere else to go.' he shrugged.

'What??' she sounded way more happy than she intended to sound.

'Yeah, I mean, maybe if your mother lets me live, then I can make a living as an engineer and I don't need to go back, ever.'

I wonder why he left? she wondered. But it was too awkward to ask so she decided to ask it later.

'Soooo...how are we going to fly it?'

'Well...it's wooden and it's new, how's the weather outside?'

Kara stuck her head outside the huge window and put her hand out for a brief moment.

'you know, if you give me Groth I could-'

'It's humid and warm and tend to be like that for the next 40 hours.' she replied smugly.

Cyran's jaw dropped wide open. What the hell did she say?

'What??'

'It's hot and humid with a slight tendency to drizzle and will tend to be like that for the next 40 hours.' she repeated.

'How, do you know?' he asked super confused.

'You can observe it by looking, feeling, smelling and hearing.' she explained.

Cyran doesn't know much about weather and meteorlogy. He has only had like 2 lessons about it. Just basic weather stuff and how to use the NOVAV technology to predict and analyze the weather on different planets.

Space doesn't have an atmosphere so he doesn't really need to use it anywhere on the ship except when you land on other planets with atmosphere that ultimately changes the weather.

He recalls talking to his father after a meterology lesson:

'Dad I cannot believe this!'

His father came rushing outside to the screaming of his 4-year-old boy.

'What? What is it?'

'We had meterology lesson today. And one boy said that he wanted to be a meterologist!' he exclaimed.

His dad smiled softly and turned to look at him.

'And what did you say?' he asked tauntingly.

'I said that he shouldn't waste his time such silly daydreams and face reality. I also told the teacher that meteorlogy is a complete waste of time and that we shouldn't have it along with arts and crafts, history, english, literature and philosophy.' he stated.

His dad bent down and stroked his head slowly.

'Cyran, you must know that everything has its use. Even the smallest bird plays its role in the ecosystem have I not told you that?'

The boy nodded.

'Everyone can have dreams Cyran, no dream is silly or dumb. If you want to do it, you must follow your path. You never know when it will be of help.' he advised.

Tiny Cyran, feeling slightly guilty of what he said nodded.

'But...when will it be of use?'

'Oh, you never know when a skill comes in handy. I once used my knowledge of philosophy to save a woman's life. I later married her and had a bright young child called Cyran.' he smiled and winked at his son.

Cyran gasped.

'I knew you couldn't have gotten with a woman with your conversation skills.' he laughed when his father pinched his cheek.

'You little brat, listen to me seriously!'

Ah. Good times.
