Valac and his team were welcomed back to the Crimson Legion's base as heroes. The prisoners they had rescued were given medical attention and a place to stay. Valac couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at having done some good in the midst of all the destruction and chaos.
But his moment of peace was short-lived. During the debriefing with Kyros and his commanders, one of the Crimson Legion officers suddenly pulled out a blaster and aimed it at Valac.
"What's going on?" Valac demanded, ready to draw his own weapon.
Kyros stepped forward, holding up his hands in a calming gesture. "Lower your weapon, Captain," he said to the officer. "What's the meaning of this?"
The officer glared at Valac. "I don't trust him," he said. "I think he's a spy for the Empire."
Valac's heart sank. He had suspected that something was off about the Crimson Legion, but he had hoped he was wrong.
"I assure you, I'm not a spy," Valac said, keeping his voice steady. "I've been fighting the Empire for years. Why would I suddenly turn to their side?"
The officer didn't seem convinced, but Kyros spoke up again. "I trust Valac," he said firmly. "If he was a spy, he would have already given away our location and plans. I won't tolerate this kind of behavior among my troops. Stand down, Captain."
The officer reluctantly lowered his blaster, but Valac knew that he couldn't trust anyone in the Crimson Legion anymore. He had to be on guard at all times.
