Chapter 46: In the Nick of Time
JOHN’S POV
Abby had gone missing at some point in the afternoon and had never come home. I had asked her parents if they had seen her, and her mom had told me that she had hugged her and told her she loved her before heading out the door. Her father told me the same sh*t. Something in my gut was telling me something was f*cking wrong with this picture.
I knew I had to find her, and I had to find her f*cking quick. I knew it had to do with f*cking Aaron Grant, but I didn’t know what had been done.
My heart told me he had her, but I needed to figure out where. I slammed my car into reverse and took to the town, asking everyone I could until someone mentioned her driving towards the local lake.
I thanked them and rushed down the dirt roads, ignoring the way my car bounced on the crappy roads. I didn’t have time to worry about it, I had to find her before the a*s did something else to hurt her. I promised to protect her a*s and there was no way that I would break that promise.
