Chapter 43: Becoming an Aunt
ABIGAIL’S POV
When my sister, Charlotte, had gone into labor, John and I had agreed to stay back to take care of the market and farm while my parents and her husband drove her an hour out to Show Low.
Our little town didn’t have a hospital, so everyone had to drive out to the bigger city to get the help they needed or had to call an ambulance.
It was now the weekend, and we were getting ready to head out to Show Low to see my niece, Emma, for the first time. I was nervous but excited to meet her. The photos my sister and her husband had sent me had been so precious and all I wanted to do was hold her.
“Are we ready?” John patted his pockets down to make sure he had everything in them.
“I think so,” I grabbed the gift bag that I had filled with baby toys and a few outfits. I didn’t want to go empty-handed.
