7th Day

It had gone past 12. It was the 7th day when all the craziness started.

The group had safely made it to Raiden's house. There they met two new survivors. Sheila and Jun, who were brothers and sisters of about the same age.

The group was already tired from all the walking and after reaching the house they had to force their way in. But, they cleared all the misunderstandings and promised each other that they would survive this together and not anybody die.

After their talk, they all fell asleep on the sofas. Makie was the first one to fall asleep and everyone else couldn't resist but fall asleep after seeing her laying down on the sofa and sleeping like a baby.

They all fell asleep.

The morning of the 7th day came. And, it brought misfortune along with it. All the people who were bitten 3 days ago had been turned by now. The number of monsters increased once again.

People felt so helpless seeing their loved ones getting turned into one of those monsters. They couldn't do anything to save them. Their fate was decided by the moment they were bitten. It was tragedies everywhere.

Someone from the group in Raiden's house finally woke up. It was Toshi. He looked around himself to process his brain. He sat on the sofa for some moment and then looked toward his Katana which was placed by his sofa.

He grabbed it and picked it up. The katana was full of his late father's memories. He was not the type of guy who would dwell on his past. But, he just cherished those memories which he happily spent with both his mother and father.

Toshi left the Katana in its place and stood up. He went toward the bathroom. He had visited Raiden's house before so he knew where all things were. He did his daily things and went inside a different room with his Katana.

Raiden was the second one who woke up. He looked around just like Toshi to process his brain. He immediately stood up and went bathroom. He went here and there in his house to check on some stuff. He came across a photo of his mom, dad, and himself. He reached his hand to pick it up but stopped. He let out a sigh and went to a different room.

He came across his own room which was on the second floor. As he got closer to it he heard some kind of noise coming from inside. He got confused and opened the gates.

It was Toshi inside who was swinging his new sword.

"You never stop to train, do you?" Raiden asked.

Toshi kept on slashing the air with his sword, "A samurai doesn't care about what situation he is in, he gotta do what he gotta do."

Raiden smirked, "you are starting to sound like your father."

"He would be happy to hear that."

"I'm sure he is." Raiden turned around to leave, "You do your thing, I don't wanna disturb you."

"That would be so kind of you," Toshi sarcastically commented.

"Yeah, yeah," Raiden closed the door and went down.

While Toshi kept on going with his training.

Raiden came back into the hall room again. As he entered he saw Sheila stretching her arms up. She had just woken up.

"Oh hey! Morning," Raiden greeted her as he sat down on his sofa.

"Oh, morning…. Ahhhh, Raiden? was it?"

"Correct. It's Raiden."

"I was scared to mispronounce your name."

Raiden chuckled, "Don't worry about it."

Sheila also smiled, "So where did your friend go?" She asked.

"He is upstairs, training."

"Training?"

"Yeah, with his sword."

"Ohhh. So, are you two like swordsmen or something?"

"Not me but he comes from that background so he is really interested in swords. I just have it to fight against those monsters."

"I see. But, aren't you afraid to fight those things?"

"I was, the first time I met them but not anymore. I hate them more than I fear them."

"I'm sorry," Sheila could tell that Raiden had gone through the pain because of those things.

"Nah, don't worry about it."

They both just stayed silent for a couple of minutes. Then, Raiden broke the silence.

"So, how did you two end up here?"

"Oh, it was the 1st day when they started attacking, we both were just walking around this area and they suddenly started attacking people. We tried to run and get inside any of the houses. But, no one was letting us in. Luckily we found this house which was open."

"It was unlocked?"

"Yeah."

'Did mom forget to lock the doors?' Raiden thought.

"Well, that's it. We then spent the next seven days here because the government issued a lockdown."

"Oh, believe me, the lockdown will be increasing."

"Yeah, I could tell. I just can't believe you guys came all the way here from Mashiro academy in the middle of the night. That sounds so terrifying."

"We had no other options. We gotta leave this city as soon as possible or it will become impossible to leave. We will have to leave this house soon, too."

Raiden looked at Sheila, directly in her eyes, "You two will be coming us too, right?"

Sheila nodded, "I too believe, that staying in this city won't benefit us at all. We gotta leave as soon as possible."

"That's right. We are currently thinking of visiting everyone's parents and after that, we will leave."

"Oh, that sounds about right. So, how many places do we have to go?"

"Just Makie's."

"Wait, why's that?"

"We are coming from Toshi's house and this is my house so the only one left is Makie."

Sheila didn't notice it before but now that Raiden mentioned it she felt really bad about it. Raiden did get to his house but his parents were nowhere to be found.

"Don't worry. I'm sure they are somewhere in the city and they are safe."

"I hope so," Raiden said but he didn't believe in those words at all.

"And, your friend, too. I'm sure his parents are safe, too."

Raiden hated to break it to her but he had to tell her. He simply shook his head, "Nope." He said. "But, his mom is still in the next town."

"Yeah, I really hope she is fine," Sheila said but she had become even sadder to hear about both of them.

One who saw his father's death and one whose parents were missing.

Sheila felt sorry for both of them from deep inside her heart.
