SHAZAM

With five thousand dollars in hand, Amanda could now plan ahead properly. First, she stopped at a public bath where she proceeded to have a satisfying bath. She felt like she was washing off her old self and welcoming her new self to the world. After that, she got to a dollar store and bought new clothes for herself. The cashier was a little nosy, asking her if she was alone or if she should call the cops, but Amanda managed to cool her down.

With new and presentable clothes and no musky smell on her, Amanda headed to a fast food restaurant and ordered two burgers and a coke. When the meal was presented to her, she ravaged it like a hungry wolf, finishing it all with one fell swoop. If it wasn't for her new found discipline and restraint, she would continued to order more till her stomach swelled. After paying and leaving a tip, Amanda decided it was time to deal with the elephant in the room, her SHAZAM powers.

In order to rest her powers, she decided to use an abandoned building that was a little far from the city. She decided not to use public transport because of all the witnesses and cameras in between. Using the memories of the original owner of her body, she arrived at an abandoned residential building mostly used as a place to pass the night by the street kids.

"It's not pretty but it will do," she thought to herself looking at the bare looking four storeyed building.

The front door was closed with a chain and a heavy padlock so she circled the building till she found a broken window in which she crawled in. Then, she searched the entire house to make sure she was really alone. That chore done, she went to the roof ready to start her tests.

"Alright, here goes nothing, super powers, here I come," she said to herself, mostly to calm herself down. Taking a deep breath in then out, she steeled her emotions as her eyes became resolute. 'Here goes nothing.'

"SHAZAM!" she shouted at the top of her lungs. The once clear skies became dark in an instance then a bolt of lightning the size of an adult's thigh stroke her, showering the air with dust from the roof of the building. When the dust settled, a grown version of Amanda was standing on a small crater.

On her body was a red, skin tight spandex like suit made out of the softest material she had ever felt! The suit was a one piece, covering her body from her neck downwards, thankfully coming as a pair of long pants, golden colored boots reaching half way to her knees, golden colored bracers on her wrists, a white colored lightning insignia on her bountiful chest surrounded by gold and a white colored cape with a hood built to it.

"Thank God for the pants," she sighed in relief before squeezing her two mounds. "And for these two as well." She then touched the lightning insignia on her chest in wonder before remembering the trailer of the Shazam movie she had watched.

"Guess I have the time," she chuckled a little bit.

"So, the first rest is super strength. This is the most basic of any super hero these days so I'll start with this," she said to herself before turning to look at the broken down oven in one of the kitchens. She lifted it with one arm, not even feeling it's weight.

She then lifted the fridge in the room next and the same thing happened. Intrigued, she started lifting every heavy item she could find till she ran out. However, she was not satisfied by the outcome at all.

"After lifting every heavy object I could find in the building, I came to realize that perhaps I was going it the wrong way. I need really heavy objects to really start quantifying my strength. Till then, I will start my next tests, durability."

She picked a brick and smashed down on her hand. The brick broke into dust as soon as it hit her, making her slightly frown. She didn't feel the hit. She then picked the fridge, lifted it above her head and smashed it down onto the top of her head. The fridge broke apart while she felt a slight itch. However, she deduced it was mostly due to her own strength rather than the fridge's ability to hurt her.

Amanda was disappointed by this so she decided to do something even more drastic. She went to the roof of the building and stepped on the edge of it. She looked down to the ground and couldn't believe her own insanity. However, she quickly purged that voice of reason telling her not to jump and let herself go.

Her brain's self survival mechanism kicked in, making her frail in the air, her eyes wide open in a disbelieving look on her face. She questioned her life choices, cursing her own arrogance. The thud and pain she was expecting never came though, making her realize she was not actually moving. Looking over her shoulders to the ground, she realized she had just passed the fourth floor and was floating midair as if gravity was no longer applicable to her.

"Is this flight?" she asked herself in amazement. She commanded herself to stand upright and just like how one would start walking, it happened!

"This is actually quite fun," she giggled as her hands waved around her, trying to feel if there was anything attached to her.

Amanda willed herself to move forward and she slowly floated forward before stopping at her command. Willing herself to float backwards and sideways brought the same result. This made her become giddy with joy! The ability to fly has been mankind's dream since they could think because of its many practical uses. Having the actual ability to fly made Amanda feel like she was in a lucid dream, one which she couldn't wake up from. However, thinking back, why would she even wake up from it?

Amanda willed for herself to fly forwards in an accelerating manner. Slowly, she started moving forwards, picking up speeds as she went. She found she had straightened her body in a streamlined manner, two hands in front of her, her fingers cutting through the air and giving her the streamlined posture for faster movement in the air.

Soon, she found she was going at speeds no human would track her with their eyes but she could actually perceive everything even in the speeds. She saw she was actually in New York City, the city that never sleeps and soon, she was flying above the ocean. She felt amazing as she cut through the air before she stopped for a microsecond and blasted upwards, leaving a huge wave in the ocean as she just broke the sound barrier.

A cone shaped barrier appeared on her as she sped to the sky till she see ice starting to form on her knuckles, she stopped and looked down towards Earth. The scene on the ground and on such a high altitude were actually very contrasting. On the ground, one would feel the planet was endless while looking to the horizon but when on this altitude, she actually felt that the planet was just an enlarged ball of water!

'This is amazing!' she exclaimed at the sheer beauty of the planet beneath her.
