Carter was sitting at his desk with his head resting on his hands. In front of him was a map spread out, and he intended to calculate the distance they had left until they reached the island of Blessing and get the supplies they needed.

He had everything he needed, but yet he couldn't concentrate. His mind flew to Serena, and he tried to realize everything had happened with Serena, who in the end wasn't who she said, a maid, but a princess. Princess Kira of the Red Valley.

On the one hand, he couldn't get rid of his mind the deception he suffered, and he felt utterly mentally broken.

His selfishness, pride, and prestige as a captain had taken a heavy toll, and he wasn't allowed to back down.

On the other hand, when he was left alone after the kiss he gave her that day and thought about it, he realized he didn't mean any of the words he had said to her: that he didn't want to see her in his eyes again.
