Chapter 55

I didn't have the strength to say anything else. I was not interested in anything other than what was hurting me so badly. I had decided that I would never be happy again.

Brielle took me out of my morbid thoughts.

"No one has understood what happened precisely. We told everybody gathered to see what had happened that you were probably more than tired, and your body demanded rest.

But we who know we have understood that something happened between you and the Captain. Do you want to tell us what happened?" Brielle asked me and stroked me gently on the cheek.

Tears rolled down my cheeks, and I turned my head towards the wall because I could no longer bear to see the pity in their eyes.

"All I can tell you is whatever the Captain and I had between us, it ended permanently and irrevocably. Now, can you please leave me alone?"

"As you wish," Jimena said in agreement and left the room, closing the door quietly.
