Chapter 32

Today was an important day for Kane and his new empire. This would be the first time he set up a deal with someone outside his jurisdiction. The merchant probably knew that Kane had just recently become king and the recent events of the Iron Rose Kingdom. This was a bit worrying because he could spread the news to the other kingdoms. But honestly, it was not that bad as the important part is this merchant would help Kane gain lots of wealth. The forest had many things that others would want and Kane could provide. If he felt like this merchant could not be trusted he would just kill him. Luckily most merchants won't pass on an opportunity to earn money.

A business meeting is always the place to wear your garments. Now that Kane was a king he had to dress like one. He put on a red and gold robe that he had some tailors make. He would be meeting the merchant in his throne room and would be accompanied by Alfred and his honor guards.

After preparing for his meeting he set off to the throne room. Alfred should have already brought in the merchant and Kane wanted to let him know that Kane is the one with the power. He would let him stew a bit before entering. Kane appeared in front of the door to the throne room and cleared his throat. Time to see if he will come out of today with a money source or a dead merchant.

Hyatt Chan has been a merchant for 7 years. He had never really been a success and his family had given up on him. The rest of his family had done well in their business and were pretty well know. He was never on good terms with them but his failure in business had completely separated him from them. He had tried more and more risky ventures but it never worked. He used what little money he had left at a bar in a faraway kingdom. He was a fat loser who may have only been 28 but seemed to be at the end of his life. He wised to be a rich merchant with mountains of gold and beauties surrounding him. Things didn't seem like they could get worse. Well until the kingdom he had been staying in was invaded and the king was killed.

Chan thought this was his end but the new ruler seemed to make the kingdom even better. He immediately helped the citizens and started to work on the kingdom. The defense and economy started to improve and the people seemed happy. Chan knew that this new ruler had many plans for his new kingdom and he knew this was his chance. This king may have seemed like a warmonger but at least he wanted to be a ruler, unlike the last king. If Chan could become the main merchant for this kingdom then he could achieve his dream of luxury. The reason he was here in the first place was the forest had untapped potential and had many ways to earn gold. But the old king would not listen and Chan did not have any way to make any money so he gave up. Now he just lives in his run-down carriage.

Put maybe this new ruler would give him the chance. He immediately ran to the castle as fast as his fat little legs could take him. By the time he got there, he was sweating profusely and his loud panting made him sound like he was dying. The butler/steward there gave him a raised eyebrow but listened to Chan's sales pitch. The man told him to come back the next day for the meeting. This was great news for Chan. Maybe he would be able to become a success after all.

Chan was brought to the throne room the next day. The room was pretty extravagant due to the old king's spending habits. Chan waited there for the king and he was nervous. He had seen this strange man in person and knew he was someone who had seen many battles. He was even a mage. This made Chan look at the man in awe but also made him feel fear. He was sweating a bit while waiting. The man Alfred was standing next to the throne and several strange-looking guards were set up around the room. Hopefully, things went well. Chan may be greedy and clumsy but he did have a certain eye for business and a way with words. That's why he risked coming to this kingdom in the middle of nowhere.

Chan was thinking to himself when he heard footsteps and felt a pressuring aura. He looked to see a powerful figure in a red and gold outfit. The man seemed ferocious and he wore a gold mask. His presence made Chan jealous and scared. He defiantly fit the image of a king but also a demon. He sat on his throne and looked at Chan.

"Well, Mr Chan what is your proposal?"
