KDA x Male Reader // Absolute Zero

"After a few fortunate... maybe unfortunate circumstances have occurred however you wish to perceive it but for our group, it might be a real big deal or just enough publicity to get us noticed so that we may finally soar in this industry. Even then with all that has happened will we ever blow out like the stars that rose all around us?"

Chapter 13

Dragging myself after her I see Eve still ahead of us. We all get into the elevator heading straight to the lowest floor. The silence in the air around us is uncomfortable, I don't know what to say... but much rather that at this moment I don't want to say a single thing. I am more worried about her than anything else.

Eve then finally greets us as the doors open she walking to the opposite end of us, "Good day to the both of you. Good luck with the meeting Kai'Sa."

She nods with a smile, turning to me she gestures towards one of the cars, "Come, let's get going."

"Sure."

Getting in the car I can feel her gaze burning a hole through me. Finally starting the car she drives us out of the underground parking. I didn't see Eve leave at all.

"You seem awfully worried."

Catching me off guard I jump in my seat, calming myself, "No I am just trying to understand. Well more get bearings before I move closer."

Looking at her she smiles, her eyes still on the road, "Look I know what you feel like. I won't pretend that I understand... some things I am still uncomfortable to just come out and talk with."

"Don't worry, there's no need to force yourself to. Take your own pace and I'll try to match it."

"I can understand why Akali has taken a liking to you," she pauses for a bit, "And why Evelynn is targeting you like she is."

"I don't know what to make of it."

"What about her is bothering you. I have been spending a lot of time with her in K/DA so I can hopefully get you some insight."

I glance at her, returning my gaze to the outside I sigh, "I don't want to talk about it."

"I..." she stumbles over her words, clearing her throat, "She doesn't mean any ill. She usually pushes new people away or keeps any contact strictly professional. You have become an addition to our group in her eyes and well she wants the best for you. She won't do it unless she is a hundred percent certain of it."

I don't know. This is a risk I am just too frightened to take. I love Akali. I won't lie the thought has had the four of you for myself is a dream. Though I am content with what I have right now, something that doesn't just happen. Not that I find it hard to share my love or to love more than one person... but more because I might lose that one thing.

She speaks through the silence, "It might seem stupid but I would trust her. She wouldn't do something that would hurt anyone in our group."

Chuckling I lean back into the seat, "There you go making me feel better about myself. Thank you Kai'Sa."

"It's my pleasure. I don't want you to think ill of her, she really goes out of her way for us even though it doesn't always show."

Almost like a bigger sister. Though I don't imagine a sister doing something like this for her other sisters.

"I'll take your word for it. What about you though? When I met you I almost thought we would never be able to hold a stable conversation."

She stares into the road, furrowing her brow I can tell she doesn't really know how to word it but she does know why. I stay silent giving her the chance to find a way to word it or just leave it open.

"You can probably say I am a bit uncomfortable around new people? Not like I can't talk to them but socially I am not really out there. I guess seeing how you operate with the rest and how both Akali and Ahri were around you made me suddenly crave that connection."

"You don't have that connection with people?" I frown.

"I do have friends outside of K/DA. Overseas. I traveled with my parents a lot and it made it difficult to keep a connection with people knowing that I might not be around for long. Some people are not willing to commit to keeping such a friendship intact."

She says it so nonchalantly. Has she just gotten this far as to not pay any attention to it? I kind of feel sorry for her, but on the other hand, she created a strong bond with the rest of the members in K/DA.

"Ahri and Akali?"

"When you were first introduced to the rest of us, I was almost on the same level as Evelynn though I would never go out of my way to threaten you," she chuckles nervously, "But the two of them almost connected with you immediately."

"So you missed the act of making friends? Or is it something else I don't see?"

She brightens up her voice chipper, "No no it's nothing like that. I am happy with the few I have. I noticed Ahri's sudden interest in you after you spent time with her, I know she seems to like that every day but she is quite proud. She wouldn't go out of her way to sit next to you unless she was interested."

"So you think he is interested in me."

She tilts her head, her brow furrowing, "I am a bit more certain than that. It could be that I am misreading the room entirely."

"You want to be romantically connected to someone."

She only nods. Occasionally glancing between me and the road I can feel her getting a bit more uncomfortable.

She then adds moments later, "I... don't want you to think I am spending time with you because I want to feel the same way about you. I kind of want Ahri to not meddle with you two, I don't want her to be jealous if she had you first."

"Then?"

"I could with you find someone that I can be attracted to."

I laugh to myself, "A wingman huh? I guess I would be the worst person for that."

"No, I don't think that at all-"

"If Akali didn't make the moves before me we probably would have stayed friends. Both Angel and Luis constantly pressured and motivated me to make a move on her. I would gladly help you but we would both be the awkward friends going to a bar."

She laughs in response, "I think you are underselling your worth."

I turn to her, "And you yourself thinking that you need me. Look at you, you four are celebrities. Take that away you are Kai'Sa a spokesperson for K/DA. Directly after that, you are a gorgeous woman."

Her cheeks redden a bit, "Th-thank you, (Y/N). You are sweeter than you let yourself on to be."

"Feel free to ask me to go out whenever and we can try to get you in the motions. Don't worry I'll make sure we take it slow and not bring anybody else with us."

She smiles, nodding with my proposition. Does this mean I have decided to not pursue that idea? I guess I am too scared to lose something that I just got, why change something when I am perfectly content with it anyway. I should let her know to just forget about it.

We stop at the place where we would meet. It was the exact place I was tricked into meeting Luis to just meet Akali later that day. The day we set up the totally planned date which the two of most likely lied about them being busy.

As we both climb out of the car I can see the two of them already inside sitting in the same booth. Something just doesn't change with those two.

I suddenly notice the stares of those in the streets and the rest walking past me, another car parks in front of us. I can see his gaze through the side mirror homed in on me.

"It has begun."

She follows my gaze, "Shit. I really hoped it wouldn't end up like this."

I gesture for her to go inside, "Go ahead. I'll keep them from bothering you from doing your work."

"Are you sure? We could just move-"

"No this is on me. I wouldn't want to waste your time or reputation. I'll just hang back and deal with any annoyances."

She nods climbing the steps. Still looking at the man in the car he jumps out with a smile, I look at him deadpan as he makes his way towards me.

"Goodday sir. Mind if I ask you some questions?"

"Sure."

He pulls out a picture showing it to me, it's a clear picture of Akali hanging onto me. A very poor quality picture if anything but enough to look like the real deal.

"And? What about it?"

"A lot of the fans are wondering if you are in a relationship with Akali? Or is your relationship superficial and totally based on assumptions?" he frantically digs into his pockets as he tries to search for something.

He finally pulls out a small notepad and a pen.

I shrug, "Will my answer really matter?" I decided to not tell them anything, Akali suggested we just not answering them and I want to respect her wishes.

"Then..." he sighs rubbing the back of his head, "What is your relationship with the popstar group?"

"I work with them."

He then scribbles into his notes, muttering to himself, "So there is some truth to the post. I guess it's impossible? Wait wait wait, there might be something more-"

I interrupt him, "Listen I am not willing to answer any other questions. I would ask you to kindly fuck off."

I say it with a somewhat condescending smile, he almost growls at me as he stumbles backward almost tripping over the sidewalk. I sigh as I push myself off the car and walk up the stairs. Even inside I can feel people whispering the moment I walk in. I am here with Kai'Sa this might just create even more rumors I need to fend off at another point and time. Fuck me.

Once inside I drop down next to them, sliding into the booth next to Kai'Sa.

"Good to see you (Y/N)", Luis says with Angel smiling nodding as he greets me.

"Hey, guys. You three good here?"

Kai'Sa then clears her throat, "We are pretty much done. Or is there anything else you wanted to ask?"

They both shake their head, "Nothing else. Thank you for doing all this effort for us," Angel states with a smile.

Well, that was short-lived. We all slide out of the booth walking outside. I hug Angel and shake Luis's hand.

"Well, you two seem to be very busy so I'll meet up with you at a later time?"

"Obviously man. We perform tomorrow and knowing you, you don't have any tickets bought."

"Caught me red-handed."

Angel laughs, "Just wish us luck."

"I always do."

As the two of them leave for their car Kai'sa asks, "I forgot to ask. I know we already ate but do you want to get something to drink at least?"

"A quick drink wouldn't hurt."

Back inside we both order a drink at the counter and then move to our booth. Not long after they walk over with both our cups placing them in front of us.

"I have some people to meet after that I am afraid you can't come with me to see, the meeting with them went so much quicker than planned so my schedule is pretty much shot wide open for an hour. So I will drop you down at our apartment."

"That would be nice, my car is still there and my bag."

She nods, "Of course." She takes a sip from her cup looking at the people around us, "They know who we are but most of them luckily will just mind their own business making it easier for us to go about our day. Now that they see you with me it might just get worse."

"I also thought that. But it should come out soon that I work with you guys so they might just get the idea I am a good friend to most of you."

"I work with promotions and people that want to come into contact with us. I as the spokesperson should have made sure that didn't come out. Our private life should have a grip on our roles as popstars."

I state, "That is pretty much unavoidable. That is why we hid our faces behind masks when we started. Only the managers of the pubs knew who we were."

"That is smart."

A small group of people enters the building sliding into the booths with a bustle. I notice the group of them and shoot a glare their way. I then shake my head staring at the window.

"Is something matter?"

The voices get closer in hushed whispers. I shoot a glance at them as they move closer. One of the girls of the group steps forward stuttering, "H-hey K-Kai'Sa? W-would y-you mind signing the-th-this for us?"

She turns around wearing a beautiful smile, "I would gladly." Signing whatever they gave her she then turns back to me.

They scurry away into one of the booths. She stares at me worryingly, putting her cup down on the table she follows my gaze to the cars driving by.

"Doesn't this tire you out?"

"I feel grateful actually. To think if I wanted to take a break from it I feel kind of selfish."

I chuckle, "Then I guess I am a bit selfish myself. " I then turn to her, "It's okay to be selfish then, you have your own life to live. They don't need to know every single detail."

She smiles, "You also make a fair point." She then gets out of her chair, "Let's pay up and get going. Drive around some before I drop you off."

"Sounds good to me."

After I paid for both of us we roamed around the streets aimlessly talking. Nothing really special but more about where I was before all of this. We brushed over the topic of family but I myself don't really talk about them much... I think that I may have to visit them at some point. Just to let them know I have somehow made a living, that I proved them wrong.
