KSKT - Preparations

All of the scavengers are already in the mushroom house except for Ben.

Inside the house, Margaret has been walking tirelessly. She's been doing that ever since Ben sprinted into town.

ALEX: Margaret, can you stop walking around? The others are getting nervous because of you.

MARGARET: How can I calm down when Ben is still outside.

Margaret in a very uneaseful voice, replied to Alex.

MARGARET: Monsters would arrive in town anytime soon, and you know that, Alex.

Alex didn't utter another word. He focused his attention on the other kids.

The children are in the living room and are protected by a dome shield that is big enough to cover the entire living room. While the others are in the dome shield, Asakit is busy outside changing the appearance of the house.

Asakit has been picking a lot of grass from the field ever since he arrived at the house. He has been thinking about what appearance he should use to conceal the mushroom house so that monsters would ignore this place. After a deep thought, he concluded that a tree would be the best option.

After gathering a lot of grass, he casted magic on them and spread small amounts around the whole house.

The grass that Asakit imbued with his mana is glowing. He then placed his hand on the ground and cast the spell, Conceal. The once glowing grass turned into wood and slowly spread until it connected to the other wood. After that, the circular wood slowly ascends and goes over the height of the mushroom house. When the wood reached a certain height branches and leaves started to grow and a giant tree appeared on the hill.

After creating the illusion spell, he clapped his hands to remove the dirt. Asakit then went past through the tree and opened the door to the mushroom house.

After Asakit entered the house, he saw the uneasiness in the faces of the children.

MARGARET: Grandpa, Ben has not yet arrived from the town.

Asakit didn't reply. He just went past the living room and proceeds to go to the kitchen and drink a glass of water. After drinking, Asakit goes back outside, but before he goes out he says to the children.

ASAKIT: I will fetch Ben.

Asakit then closed the door and cast another spell, Flight. He started to float in the air, and then he cast another spell, Conceal, and his appearance on the outside turned into a bird.

As he was flying there was a sudden loud roar coming from the east.

Raaaaaaaaaah!

Asakit froze from hearing the sound and he muttered.

ASAKIT: A-a d-dragon!

Asakit stopped thinking for a moment, and when he snapped out of his fear, he hurriedly blasted through the air to reach town.

The roar of the dragon has reached the town making all the people stop for a moment including the secretary of the knight's captain, Ace.

The moment Ace heard the roar from the east he immediately knew that it was a dragon, because before he became a secretary he once fought along with the captain.

ACE: Captain, did you hear the roar from the east? It appears that a dragon has appeared.

After hearing the roar, Ace stopped what he was doing and immediately sent a message to his captain using a magic quill.

In just a few seconds, Ace saw magic writing floating in the air.

CAPTAIN: Yes. Tell all the knights to ready themselves and also use the money in the bank to hire adventurers. The higher the rank the better. That's an order.

ACE: Copy Captain.

Ace immediately announces an emergency meeting. Within 5 minutes all the squad leaders had already arrived in the secretary's room.

Without further delay, Ace told all the squad leaders to go to their stations and ordered everyone to strengthen the defense of the town. He made another order, which is to make the town's people stay in their homes, and make sure that they don't create panic. After explaining and giving the tasks, he then write something on paper and handed it to one of the squad leaders.

ACE: Post this in the adventurer's guild.

The squad leaders took the paper and placed it in his pocket.

ACE: Is there any question?

The squad leaders just stood still and didn't respond to Ace's question.

ACE: If there is none, everyone is dismissed.

After the squad leaders got dismissed, they immediately executed the tasks that the secretary gave to them. All of the squad leaders are focused on preparing in their stations, they order knights to make announcements for everyone to stay at home. The squad leader that took the letter ordered a competent knight to handle the adventurers guild.

While everyone was preparing, one of the guards at the entrance detected an object flying toward them. He immediately informs the knight about what he saw.

The object grew bigger as it came closer, and some knights were already at the entrance ready with their weapons. As it came, its figure could now be identified, and it was One. Upon knowing that it wasn't a threat, the knights lowered their weapons and handed her a towel and a chair.

KNIGHT 1: Jassie, what's the situation in the East Forest.

Jassie, the magician of squad three or aka One, took off her helmet to wipe herself with the towel. She then looked at the knight with her dead eyes and dry lips and said.

JASSIE: Strengthen the defense of the town. We must strengthen our defense.

The knight felt bad for Jassie rubbing her back and said.

KNIGHT 1: We are already doing that. The secretary already made an order to strengthen the defense.

JASSIE: Then...

Jassie's eyes widened as she realized her teammates were gonna die while she was doing nothing, for her mission was already done.

JASSIE: I have to return to them.

Although her mind is functioning like normal after consuming all of her mana due to the continues flying and fatigue, her body is not in good shape. If she wasn't sitting, she would have collapsed due to exhaustion.

JASSIE: Please, I have to return, my teammates are gonna die!

Before the knight was able to answer, there was a sound similar to an explosion from the direction of the knight's headquarters. There was a line made from mana in the sky that could be seen.

SQUAD LEADER: Captain is on the move.

The explosion was caused by their captain casting flight magic.

All the knights in the area became tense because they knew that their captain was strong, and if their captain is on the move that means that there's a strong monster that appears or war broke out. They know that if their captain loses this fight, it only means that there's a huge chance that they won't be able to protect this town.

While everyone hustled to hasten the preparation time, Jassie looked at the trace of mana that the captain had left and noticed that the direction he was going was east, and so she concluded that he was going to go and fight the dragon.

She put her hands together. She gets emotional and starts crying because she is now holding a hope in her heart that the captain can still save her teammates.

JASSIE: Captain, please... Save them!
