CHAPTER 14
"Tell Miss Lawson, I want to see her."
Kendrick instucts Paul.
" Okay Sir. "
Paul replies and walks out of the office. He enters an elevator to the second floor to meet Julie.
He walks up to her and says.
"Mr Kendrick wants to see you."
" All right. "
Julie replies and gets up.
She enters an elevator and arrives at the third floor. Then she heads straight to Kendrick's office. She knocks twice on his door and he answers.
" Come in. "
She walks in and says.
" Good morning sir . "
He looks up and smiles.
"Yes, morning to you miss... Gosh I keep forgetting your first name."
He says with a stiff frown on his face.
" Julie. " She reminds him.
" Aha Julie. Have a seat. "
He offered.
She sits down, with her legs crossed and her hands on her laps, this time she wasn't tensed. It was just her formal sitting posture.
Kendrick arranges some yellow papers into his drawer.
" Follow me."
He says as he gets up and walks into another room.
Julie follows after him and halts, when he stood. She watched him open a door, revealing a well furnished, luxurious and conducive room.
He turns to her and says.
" This will be your new office, I have assigned some men to move your things up here, in the mean time, get familiar with this new environment. Because this is where you will carry out most of the assignment I will give to you."
Julie smiles and nods.
It seemed to be quiet place and she liked it.
" All right. Let's go back to my office. "
He says and leads the way,
Julie follows behind him, watching his proud walking posture.
He sat behind his desk and she sat down opposite him.
" Here. "
He hands her a file and she collects it.
He explains further.
" In that file is a comprehensive list, of my schedule, written orderly, you are to study it and understand it, If you have any questions, you can ask me. I'm usually here in the office, More so, I will inform you when there is any new developments to my schedule."
Julie opens the file and observes it.
"Since Miss Dina is in charge of payment of salaries, I'm not familiar with the pay roll, or the amount my employees get payed monthly, so tell me, how much do you get paid ? "
Kendrick asked Julie.
" Seventy five thousand dollars, sir. "
Julie answered.
"All right, I'll double the amount. From now on your salary will be a hundred and fifty thousand dollars monthly. Now that you have agreed to be my personal assistant. Things are gonna be quite different, from now on, I assure you. "
He says with a simple smile.
"Thank you sir. "
Julie says with a smile, trying hard to contain her excitement. Today was indeed her lucky day. She won't tell her boyfriend Josiah that her boss increased her salary, because if she does, he won't feel the need to work hard or get a good paying job. She'll just keep this good news to herself.
" So when it's time, send me your account details, so I can transfer the money into your account. "
He said nicely.
"All right sir. I will. " Julie replied, while smiling appreciatively.
Kendrick let's out a tired sigh,
He yawns and says.
"That would be all for now. You can go back to work, to resume your new duty as my personal assistant on Monday. Is that understood? "
" Yes sir. "
She answered timidly. And gets up to leave.
" Miss julie. " He calls her.
She halts at the door and turns to look at him.
" Sir? " She answers.
"Please Get me a cup of coffee."
He says dismissively as he opens his laptop and begins to type. He seemed tired but he kept on working.
" Yes sir. "
She replies and walks out of his office.
Shortly after, she returned with a hot Cup of coffee and placed it on his desk.
" Thank you." he said, without looking up.
Julie nodded, she went into her new office and watched a group of men carry her things, she observed the office as they arranged some equipments orderly into every corners of the room. A shy yet happy and nostalgic smile adorned her face. It was the private office she had long desired. This would be a new phase for her. And she was ready for it.
