Chapter 15: Small talk

The next day, the sunlight spilt over the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical High School as Gojo approached Yuji and Nobara with a sly grin.

Under the morning sun, Gojo handed Yuji and Nobara a mission scroll, his characteristic grin widening as he explained the details of their assignment. The scroll unfurled, revealing a map and information about a cursed activity reported on the outskirts of Tokyo.

As Gojo handed them the mission briefing, Nobara sighed in frustration. "Seriously, Gojo-sensei? It's my fourth day, and I still haven't had the chance to explore Tokyo. Can't you give us something less... mission-like?"

Gojo flashed his trademark grin and replied, "Sorry, Nobara, but missions are part of the study. Besides, you'll get to see a different side of Tokyo – the cursed side."

Nobara sighed, realizing that her tour plans were officially on hold. "Fine, but can we at least grab some good food after this? I heard Tokyo has amazing restaurants."

Gojo chuckled. "Deal. Once the mission is done, you can indulge in all the Tokyo delicacies you want."

Before they could leave, Gojo casually added, "Oh, and Megumi, you're coming along with them. Three heads are better than two, after all."

Megumi, who had been quietly observing the exchange, raised an eyebrow. "Why me? I've got other things to do."

Gojo leaned back, crossing his arms. "Teamwork, my dear Fushiguro. Plus, it's a good chance for you to mentor the new recruits."

Nobara shot Megumi a mischievous grin. "Looks like you're stuck with us, Fushiguro. Hope you're ready for a fun day."

Megumi sighed, resigned to his fate. "Fine, let's just get this over with."

While they were moving towards the location indicated on the mission scroll, Yuji couldn't help but ask:

"Hey, Nobara," Yuji began, his curiosity evident in his tone. "When we were hunting the curses, you said something like, {Resonance}, what was that?"

Nobara smirked, pleased to share her knowledge. "Ah, that's one of my techniques. It's called {Resonance: Body Execution}. With this, I can amplify the cursed energy in my surroundings, creating a resonance that disrupts and damages the cursed spirits. It's like turning their own energy against them."

Yuji's eyes widened with interest. "That's pretty cool! How does it work?"

Nobara explained, "I focus on harmonizing with the cursed energy around me, sort of like tuning into a frequency. Once I establish resonance, I can manipulate and intensify the energy, making it a powerful offensive tool."

Yuji nodded, absorbing the information. "That sounds really handy. You've got a unique style, Nobara."

Nobara grinned. "Thanks, Yuji. It's all about finding what works best for you. But the downside is it needs a medium to give its maximum potential."

"Oh, that's why you used the straw doll and the severed arm as mediums," Yuji realized, connecting the dots. "They help you channel your cursed energy more effectively, right?"

Nobara nodded. "Exactly. The straw doll serves as a focus point, allowing me to direct my cursed energy precisely."

So it's a watered-down version of puppetry, and her technique directly affects the target's soul, I think. The straw doll is like her little assistant in a fight. It's not as complex as puppetry, but it gets the job done. While Yuji was thinking about the technique, Nobara asked.

"And speaking of techniques, what about you? Gojo-sensai mentioned something about Sukuna's fingers boosting your cursed energy."

Yuji scratched his head, explaining, "Yeah, Sukuna's fingers are a source of potent cursed energy. When I consume them, I can access some of Sukuna's strength and enhance my own strength. It's a bit risky, considering Sukuna's reputation, but it comes in handy when facing tough opponents."

Nobara raised an eyebrow. "Sukuna, huh? That sounds like a gamble. Do you trust that guy?"

Yuji smirked. "Not really, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Plus, it adds a bit of excitement to the battles."

He added mentally, And he is more fun to mess with. Yuji couldn't deny the unpredictable nature of Sukuna, but he found it rather entertaining like friends messing with each other for fun.

Of course, Sukuna didn't follow Yuji's line of thought. For Sukuna, it's all about profit and strength. But does that mean Yuji finds his behaviour disturbing?

The answer is no. Yuji—Immortal Soul—may not fully understand or agree with Sukuna's motives, but he has come to accept them as part of the package deal that comes with wielding Sukuna's power. And Sukuna keeps things interesting. He may be ruthless, but he's not boring.

Hearing Yuji reply, Nobara chuckled. "Well, as long as you can handle it. I wouldn't want to be in a team with someone constantly at odds with their own cursed spirit."

Yuji grinned a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Trust me, Nobara, I've got it all under control. Sukuna may be a handful, but it's like having a rowdy roommate. You learn to coexist, or things get messy."

Nobara raised an eyebrow, skeptical but intrigued. "Rowdy roommate, huh? I hope he's not a slob."

Yuji laughed. "More like a destructive force of nature, but we make it work."

Yuji grinned. "Don't worry, Nobara. We've found our rhythm. It's like a dance – unpredictable, but we manage to stay in step."

And I just need to teach him some spells and he will be quiet. Yuji mentally added.

Nobara rolled her eyes, playfully nudging Yuji. "Just don't let that dance lead you into trouble, Yuji. We've got a mission to focus on, and I'd like to finish it without any unnecessary chaos."

As they continued their conversation, they approached the reported cursed activity

Megumi, who had been quietly listening, interjected, "Speaking of the mission, we should discuss our approach. We need to be prepared for whatever curses we might encounter."

Yuji nodded in agreement. "Right, Fushiguro. Let's strategize. Nobara, you take the lead with your Resonance technique. Megumi, cover us with your Shikigami. I'll be the front line, dealing with any curses head-on."

Nobara smirked. "Sounds like a plan,"
