A Crazy Woman?

Jonah spent the next half of the morning exploring the city sites. He chatted with some random passers-by about the 'validity of pineapple on pizza', he smelled the roses and flowers at a local woman's flower stall at a street corner, and he helped a disabled man finish moving into his apartment nearby. All in all, it was quite an eventful morning and he was quite satisfied with his work during his chats with the locals.

He was in a city called, Doli City. It was a large and beautiful part of the Republic of Rokario. Needless to say, Jonah had never heard of this Doli City or the Rokario Republic before during all his studies in geography and history. He was left scratching his head in helplessness as his guess was that he had been exiled from his Earth from the final battle. He had somehow ended up here and his age had regressed by 6 years to 16 again.

He also had asked around if any of the locals knew what a 'hunter' was and how he could become one. The disabled man was quiet and kind and fully explained the ins and outs of the Hunter Association to him after Jonah helped him. That man claimed he had actually received his disability during the 258th hunter exam and he became disabled for life. He explained how difficult it was to pass the hunter exam and a few of the many perks that came with it. Jonah was quite convinced that this is a must-do for himself. He could feel his body heat up with adrenaline, just imagining it.

Sadly, the man didn't have much additional info on this year's hunter exam. But Jonah thanked him anyway for the help and the solemn warning about its difficulty.

"Nice people, great place and city. Peaceful." Jonah said, commenting to himself.

"Hmm?" Jonah raised his eyebrow.

He noticed a small commotion in front of a large music hall called 'The Grandarium'. A woman was pleading with random passers-by. She looked haggard and her expression was filled with distress.

"Please! Please! Miss, don't attend! Sir, Don't go in! It's all a lie! Please don't listen to the concert!" The woman shouted, desperately.

"Get off of me, woman!" The man responded angrily, shaking her off his arm.

Three sets of strong men came out from the Grandarium wearing bright maroon suits with a holstered gun on their sides. They grabbed the woman who was screaming and dragged her into the Grandarium.

"Apologies guests, this woman will be removed from the premises. Check your valuables, she has been known to steal from travelers." One of the security guards explained with a smirk.

A soft round of laughter came from the surroundings as a few people checked for their wallets and purses, but nobody found anything to be missing. The man waved as people thanked him for his work. He turned and entered back into the Grandarium in the same way the others dragged the woman.

Jonah watched all this happen from a distance, but he had a frown on his face. Obviously, this situation was not right. He assumed that those men were security for the Grandarium theatre, but they shouldn't have a right to detain anyone like a prisoner. And the woman was obviously not a thief, no thief would make such a big scene of themselves in order to steal petty wallets and purses.

Jonah felt a genuine smile spread unconsciously on his face. Looks like he found himself a date, with trouble. He slipped through the moving people and into the doors of the Grandarium. As he entered, he just caught the tail of the men with the woman entering into a room that was marked as 'staff only'. The woman was not crying out in hysterical protest like someone would think. She was abnormally quiet and shivering in fear.

Just as Jonah was going to follow in that direction, a man dressed in service attire stopped him.

"Hello young man, are you here for the 1:00 PM show of Requiem Artistry?" The service man explained with forced politeness.

"Requiem..?" Jonah asked unconsciously.

"Indeed. You must know, the ticket office will open in an hour, but right now we are not open. Please come back during that time." The service man answered in a ridged tone.

Jonah smiled at the man and nodded. He turned, walked back outside of the Grandarium, and sat on the bus stop bench on the opposite side of the road.

'Since the civil way is not possible right now, let's try to be a little sneaky.' Jonah thought.

'Come out. BOLDLY GO!' Jonah shouted in his mind while making a handsome pose on the bench. His legs were crossed and he looked arrogantly around like a king looks across his subjects.

A humanoid stand came out from Jonah's chest. It was entirely purple and covered in goo. It posed elegantly in the same manner as Jonah, sitting next to him on the bus bench. It was wearing a pink jellyfish-like hat on its head like a helmet, the two 'helmet straps' were jellyfish tentacles that dangled down the side of its face as if unbuckled. It looked very skinny, like a starving man with a collapsed stomach.

Boldly Go floated up in the air and disappeared into the Grandarium according to Jonah's directions. Jonah had his eyes closed in concentration, which made him look like he fell asleep while waiting for the bus to arrive. But in reality, he was looking at the world through his stand's eyes.

Boldly Go floated over the heads of the service members, without anyone noticing anything different. It came in front of the 'staff only' door, and phased through it without any trouble. Inside it, the woman from earlier was cuffed to an electronic water eater with handcuffs, while there were 4 men discussing at a small table in the corner of the room. None of them could see Boldly Go, so they didn't notice that a new listener had joined their conversation.

"Am I right or Am I right?" One of the men asked sarcastically.

"You don't have to pretend to be intelligent Oscar. Anyone can figure out that something is off with the show." Another man replied.

"*scoff*, well it doesn't matter as long as we get paid. Now that the godfather has spoken, we need to silence the woman." One of the men said.

"Ah, I just want to retire. " Another of the men sighed.

"So who's turn is it?"

"Let's roll for it. I hate this kind of dirty work."

"10"

"19"

"13"

"4"

One of the men shook a cup of 4 dice and shook it, before rolling the dice onto the table. The result was a 17.

"Ah, damn. " the winning man rubbed his head in frustration.

"Go get it done. " The other men responded while snickering.

The man uncuffed the woman and pushed her along down another hallway towards a back alley. Boldly Go followed along with ease, allowing Jonah to watch as everything unfolded remotely. Jonah stretched lazily and got up from the bus stop bench. The bus had just arrived, but he wasn't here to get on. He walked along the sidewalk in the direction of where the man was taking the woman, while occasionally closing his eyes to check on the situation remotely.

The man had finally pushed the woman into a dilapidated building at the corner of an alleyway. The woman was shaking slightly, but she kept trying to take deep breathes and calm herself in the face of her situation. She felt like she was beyond stupid to just plead with strangers about the truths she had seen, but when she saw a small family attempting to purchase tickets. She couldn't help herself from speaking up. And now, she was about to die. She thought she had made her resolve to die when she spoke up to that family, she was not the smartest woman but she prided herself on being stubborn. But now that she was minutes away from death, in a place nobody would find her body, she felt scared, angry, and frustrated.

'If only I had been less impulsive.' she thought in regret while looking at the man in front of her.

"Anything to say before I do it?" The man asked generously while he finished screwing on the silencer for his pistol.

"Can you bury my body?" She asked shakily while trying to meet the man's eyes fearlessly, but failed.

The man paused for a moment before shaking his head.

"Sorry."

He pulled the gun to her temple at point-blank range, ready to pull the trigger. But then suddenly, he heard the floor above his head groan loudly. He glanced up in question, but then the ceiling above him collapsed as another man yelled loudly.

"URA URA URA URAA!" Jonah helped loudly as he broke through the floor with his ripple-enhanced strength.

"Ah-!" The man screamed but was completely buried under the wood, parts, and Jonah's body. Jonah landed perfectly with his right leg standing on top of the man's body.

The woman looked dumbly in front of her as a handsome teenager spoke while posing handsomely. She had just been a second away from death, and now she was alive. The change was too sudden.

"Looks like I'm just in time," Jonah said while he smiled.
