Chapter 6

One, two, three.. Jade thought to himself as he stood there at the foot of the apartment building he lived inside of while watching people pass by. He knew it would be coming to him any moment. Just as he always caught the scent of trail when he hunted down a target he could easily sense when that man would call his phone. It was almost like he could sense some sort of magnetic pulse from his phone before it went off. There was no way he could know who the caller would be if he had more people who contacted him but he only had the one person who currently would contact him for the most part so it was rather simple to guess who it was.

RIIIIINNNGG RIIIIINNNGG RIIIIINNNGG

"Direction?" Jade bluntly stated the question to the person on the other end of the phone when he answered it.

"As friendly as ever, bitch." The voice sounded like it was scoffing at his rudeness.

Jade never did feel a reason to be kind towards the person. Their relationship was purely for the sake of him being paid for the targets he took out. The money he made from killing was also wired to his account so he could simply count on his hand the number of times he actually met the person face to face that paid him for his work.

"No time. Direction?" He bluntly requested the information again with a tone that was completely void of emotion towards the person.

"Tonight's target for you is Silvester Kellner. He is currently in the northern part of the city at a party for a bunch of wealthy-"

"Got it."

While the man was starting to go off in further details Jade had felt he heard enough information that he required to do his job so he hung up on the man. He was not interested in who was around the target. It was not that hard for him to kill people like he had been doing so he never bothered to get information too deeply towards who the targets were or who was around them. It was that simple fact that caused a lot of people to hate him but given his talent at killing nobody had the nerve to retaliate against him.

Silence befell his mind as he closed his eyes to calm himself slightly before walking. He knew who the target was and that was the only thing he needed to know for now. There was a slight sound of footsteps coming from behind as he heard the sliding doors of the apartment building opening so that someone could come outside. It did not matter to him who it was or where they were going so he simply ignored them.

"Jade?"

He heard a man's voice call out his name but his mind was not set to respond at the time being. Kneeling down slightly as he flung the cloak he wore towards his left shoulder to expose his back he murmured something under his breath that was completely incoherent. It was obvious to anyone near by that could hear him that he was grunting out in a pained way. The shirt he wore had large ripped holes on his back; one on each side near his shoulder blades.

Where the torn up holes were his exposed skin began to move as two pairs of black wings began to force themselves from his body. His jaded eyes were glowing slightly under the moonlight as he forced himself to endure the pain. It was his quickest way to travel but no matter how many times he released his wings he could not get use to the pain he had to endure when they came out. The whites of his eyes that were tinted with red seemed to redden even more as he endured the pain until the wings were completely formed.

"Son of a-!" Jade shouted from the pain he had felt but cut off himself from talking as he recalled his purpose for bringing them out and wanted to get his task for the night over with.

The black feathered wings on his back burst wide open from his back. The air around him rained from loose feathers that fell from the motion. The massive pair of wings seemed to shimmer under the city lights giving him a angelic glow about him. If a person could look past the fact that Jade was a killer in that moment they would surely mistake him for a fallen angel. It was like looking at a painting of an angelic warrior. The red stained, jade colored, eyes even pushed his face at that moment to look as though he was simply a warrior who had spent centuries enduring pain and was simply exhausted.

A powerful gust of wind shook the surroundings around him as his wings flapped. His body slowly lifting from the ground where he stood until his entire form was in the air. Like a jolt of lightning his wings slammed against the air harder once he was far enough from the people below to not affect them unnecessarily. His body quickly rushing past tall buildings with his target in the back of his mind.

Across the sky above the city Jade's form soared as quickly as he could towards the northern part. Silvester Kellner was his next target so his only thought at that time was to track the man down and take his life as quickly as possible. In the world he was in now there were different species similar to humans like elves, beastmen, and other things so he was not worried about what others were thinking when they saw him flying with his wings.

The truth was that he had still not come across a species similar to his own body yet so he still had no idea what he was but in the back of his mind he was sure there was something out there like him so he did not worry too much about it. Regardless of the fact that he was not worried about his form being seen he still kept its use to a minimum just in case something did become of it. When it came to the other species they rarely even entered the human territory because many of them would be taking a risk on their life if they had. They were known to become slaves by underhanded people of high or rich standing among the world so they kept themselves hidden as much as possible. There were few who came out into society openly to take the risk to make something of themselves in the world but they had to do so carefully unless they could properly defend themselves.
