Chapter 42
Silvester and Jade stood there staring into each other's eyes. Their fists had landed against one another while they both held their wings stretched out behind their backs. If one had not known they were fighting their stance could have been painted into a picture perfect scene. It was like seeing two rogue angels fighting. The very sight left Noel feeling speechless for a moment as the area broke into a dead silence while they stared each other down.
Flipping his body about in the air Jade sent his leg flying upward for Silvester's head but was quickly caught by the ankle and sent flying once again. Stabilizing his landing with his wing once again he glanced over at the two resting by the treeline. At a glance he could tell that Capricorn's condition was not looking good and he did not have time to play around with Silvester. If he wanted to help Capricorn he would have to take care of the man as quick as possible.
"Fight like you mean it or you'll die to quickly for me!" The man shouted at Jade with a tone as if he was angered that Jade was not living up to his expectations.
Spreading out his wings Silvester sent himself into the air above them all. His glassy blue eyes gazing down at the terrain where Jade stood as he stretched out his hand. Shining brightly a spear began to appear out of thin air that was white and gold in color. Twirling the spear around in his hand he took a stance as if he was ready to spar. The smile on his face was one of determination and pleasure as he felt the excitement of the battle.
Jade was still not sure how to use his abilities like Silvester and had to use caution as he approached the man in battle. Extending his nails out like blades once again he took to a battle stance. His hands held out at his sides he watched as Silvester descended towards him. Using the only method he could to spar with the spear that was swung repeatedly for him he blocked it again and again with his blade like nails.
Noel could see that Jade was struggling on his own against Silvester and it made his heart ache and pound like a freight train. Climbing to his feet he made sure Capricorn was comfortable before running off from where they had been huddled at. Running as fast as he could Noel headed straight for the only thing he could think of. The gateway to the Void was within their sights if he could make it before something happened to Jade.
When Silvester caught sight of Noel rushing for the gateway to the Void he grit his teeth. He was not in the mood to deal with meddlers in his affairs. As he rushed for Noel with his spear Jade took advantage of the distraction to swipe his nails at him from behind. The distraction was not enough, however, because his move was blocked by the spear.
"Meddling in affairs that do not involve you, human?" Silvester shouted his question at Noel causing the man to glance behind him at where they were fighting.
Suddenly all three of them were caught off guard by something they were not expecting. A giant one eyed leopard had leapt out of nowhere onto Silvester. Digging it's nails into Silvester as it roared out out him the beast tried to sink it's fangs into him but in turn found itself being struck with the spear. Blood splattered from the wound where the spear had struck him as his body was sent flying with a heavy kick from Silvester.
The body of the wild beast skipped across the scorched grass and dirt as if it was a skipping rock on the surface of water. A loud thud was heard with each skip the body made causing Noel and Jade to grow cold where they stood. Roaring out in pain the body of the leopard forced itself back up to his feet with a look of exhaustion. It was obvious the beast was pushing itself past its limits. After a moment Noel shouted out and woke Jade from his daze.
"That's Capricorn!" Noel shouted at the top of his lungs so that Jade could hear him after he realized where the leopard had come from. It was something he had never expected to see but it was obvious to him given the wounds matching up.
In order to protect Jade and Noel the man, Capricorn, had taken to his true beast form. Letting out a fierce roar his body wavered in keeping balance. The lack of sleep and loss of blood combined were becoming too much of a burden for him. He could feel his own body wanting to cave under himself. His golden and black fur reflected the sunlight beautifully. If it was not for the fact he was wounded he truly would be a creature worthy of becoming art.
"I'm here to aid you, my prince!" Capricorn's voice could be heard coming from the leopard as it stood there holding focus on Silvester's figure. Jade knew the man was stubborn but he had never figured he would be so stubborn to push himself past his physical limitations. Even if Jade wanted to protest he knew if he tried to he would only waste time because the man would not be willing to refuse helping him.
"Alright! All at once, Capricorn!" As soon as Jade shouted those words he could hear the beast roaring in agreement. Both of their figures began rushing Silvester at once causing the man to have a harder time determining which way to defend.
Seeing that they were willing to go to underhanded methods to stop him only made Silvester happier. In a flash of white light his figure vanished from it's spot and reappeared in front of Noel before he could finish his run for the gateway. Noel stopped dead in his tracks in order to avoid bumping into him. Quaking slightly where he stood his eyes connected with Silvester's.
