Chapter 22

SLAM

The door closed hard behind Jade as he entered his own apartment feelings incredibly tired from dealing with Noel. Sounds of soft meowing came from the floor as he could hear the pitter patter of the steps from his small calico rushing to greet him as he came home.

"A bit rough with the door don't you think, Jade?" A calm voice slowly asked him with a hidden scent of irritation.

"What are you doing here during the day, Logan?" Jade asked as he was trying to under stand why the man was suddenly pushing to be around him more often. He could count the number of times he'd met the man on his hand since he came to this world and suddenly he was showing up constantly.

"I wanted to check on my favorite hunter of course." Logan smiled while he spoke but there was a glint of something else in his eyes that made Jade's heart shudder.

"I'm fine. You can show yourself out." Jade declared to him as he turned to head towards his bed. His cat fumbling to follow him from below.

"You were with that boy, right?" Logan blurted out the question that he already knew the answer to. It did not take much for him to know the truth when it came to such a thing as Jade socializing with another. He knew the man never wanted to hang around with others and only ever truly communicated with him over the phone because of he was the one who paid him for his jobs he sent him on. A burning fury was trying to build it's way up inside of him as he felt like a boy who'd had his toy stolen by another.

"What does it matter who I am around?" Jade grit his teeth tight as he tried to think of a way to detour Logan from the bartender. "I simply felt like going for a walk today."

Before Jade could continue trying to detour Logan from the truth he could hear the sound of quick steps from behind. Suddenly his body slammed hard into the floor as he found himself being pinned to the floor. Logan's heavy was straddling him at the waist as his right had was firmly grasping onto Jade's neck making it hard for him to breath. There was no sense of clarity in his eyes as he glared down at Jade with a dark expression as though he was about to strangle him.

"You belong to me, Jade, remember that very clearly before you make the wrong decision." His tone was heavy as cold as the look on his face. Heat was coming from his tight grasp on Jade's neck that felt like he was going to burn straight through his skin.

"L-Logan, calm yourself." Jade tried to speak but the words were hard to force out. As strong as Jade was when it came to Logan he was no match for him.

"Calm? I am calm as can be." Logan whispered the words harshly into Jade's ear as his grip tightened slightly.

TAP TAP TAP

A knocking sound on Jade's door started to sound out. They both paused in their words as they heard the sound of the person knocking at the door. Jade's heart began to beat faster as there were not many options when it came to who would knock on his door personally. He could see the slight glare from Logan's eyes that looked as though they were going to burn holes into the door.

"Jade, I know you're home!" A very flustered and annoyed tone came from the other side of the door from a nervous Noel outside his apartment.

"Fix. This. Now." The murderous rage in Logan's eyes caused Jade to shudder down to his spine. Slowly his grip began to release from Jade's neck displaying the red imprint from where he had be grasping onto so tightly before. His breathing was beginning to calm down as well but there was still obvious rage behind his fake display of calm.

"Give me a moment!" Jade shouted towards his door so that Noel knew he would be there in a moment. As he got up his eyes carefully scanned Logan's figure to ensure that it was safe for him to head towards the door to speak with Noel. It did not seem as though Logan was going to refuse the matter however he knew he had to tread carefully in everything he did when it involved the bartender. If he was not careful in what he did or said to him it would only lead Logan into a rage that could leave the man in a state worse then death itself even if Logan did not have Noel's life simply taken out of jealousy.

"Go ahead. Answer it." Logan smiled with a calm expression that sent him chills.

"I'll send him home.. Wait for me here or head back to your own place but I only request you leave him out of it, Logan." Jade carefully spoke his words to him before heading towards the door.

Logan never gave a response to what Jade had requested of him. Whether or not he agreed was not something that Jade could be aware of and he knew that well. There was not a soul alive that could control Logan and keep him from acting simply on what he wanted to do. It did not matter if it was killing or simply something else because when the man desired something he would do all he could to force his claim onto it or ensure that nobody else was able to have it themselves. Jade was something he considered his personal possession and there was no way he was willing to see him taken from him by another.

As soon as Jade began to pull open the door to greet the young bartender that he had just abandoned in the city before he came home he could hear the steps of Logan quickly pacing himself over towards the door with heavy steps. Warning alarms felt as though they were going off in Jade's mind as his face was suddenly grabbed from the side forcing him to turn towards Logan's piercing gaze. Before Jade could even protest his mouth was interlocked with that of Logan while a pale white expression flushed over Noel's face at the sight in front of him.

"Leave us alone." Logan spoke the words the second he separated his face from Jade's to glare at Noel. His hand slamming against the door causing it to slam shut right in front of Noel's face; leaving him in a daze out in the hallway. He knew if he left things alone for Jade to handle on his own that it would only worsen the situation for himself so he had to cut off the cord quick before the man got any further from him.
