Jack-of-all-trade, The Skill Borrower

Warning I lost most of my work for this, just the writing would have sucked but I also lost my huge amount of planning and its too much work to try and rebuild what I was writing, so I’ve stopped writing this and started a new novel. It’s very different from this one though, but if you’d still like to support me it’s called “For I will be the war Empress.” I am a student though so posting stories won’t really be on a fixed day but I’ll try my best. Anyways, thank you for reading this. The world is at its peak of technology, Many things that seemed unachievable were now at arms length. Yet even now, Money is still what really controls the world and the people. The male managed to get a deal with only having to pay 30% the amount that was meant to be paid for half a year, room and gaming equipment and food included, he rushed to take the chance. At first, the boy wasn’t going to mind it, but the moment he witnessed his own companion, he himself felt he had to find out what happened, both inside, and outside the game.

01 23 - The Angel's Tears

The white haired boy looked at me confused before leaning in to whisper.

"What do you mean? That's such a sketchy thing."

I looked at him with pleading eyes before the man on stage continued to speak.

"It strengthens your skills, though there are sometimes some... side effects that may cause you to hit it wrong, but it's still a wonderful potion."

This clearly was enough to catch the attention of all the players within the auction. Many players already were already beginning to raise their cards that showed the amount of gold coins they wanted spend for the potion.

"Not only will it boost your skill, it can also hide your presence from the opponent. It last for a while I'm told."

More people began to bet for it. I knew from those last words, it was clearly a lie. A suspicious potion, which is quiet OP, there's no way it would be sold, I might be overthinking it I know, but from the definition that old man gave, it fit the definition of what that man on stage is currently holding.

"Beom, you're a rich kid right?"

He looked at me annoyed from how I said it, but I wasn't exactly wrong about it.

"What about it?"

I looked at him once again with pleading eyes, pointing my finger towards the potion.

"It's dangerous, so buy it for me, I'll pay you at some point, so just buy it before they give it to anyone else."

The male looked at me with a somewhat annoyed face.

"Fine. I'll figure out how you'll pay me back later, but what kind of hyung has to beg to his Dongsaeng to pay."

I felt my eyebrow twitch for a moment but just kept my smile. I can tolerate it as long as I can get this potion away from people who don't know it's actual effects. Even if I was wrong, I don't want to risk someone dying when I could have stopped it before.

"Are you even trying to be a hero?"

The younger male spoke, which made me pause for a moment. Am I doing this to save anyone just because I want them to be saved? No, that's never been how I think. I don't want to feel the guilt of having someone die when I knew I could have stopped it. I don't care if I seem selfish, but I don't want it to eat my life away..

"Stop asking questions and raise the card already!"

I whispered angrily before Beom finally raised the card up, 30K gold coins. I coughed loudly, not realizing how much he raised up, but it was enough for most people to stop trying to get the potion. Yet there was one more person who kept trying to beat him, but in the end, the PK won and the money raised to 50k.

"5-50 thousand gold coins.. there's too many zeros for me to figure out how much money that would be in Korean won.."

Will I even be able to pay that off? Will I become a slave for this man?.. Maybe I should have just let someone else get it.. No! What am I saying, that's a bad way of thinking, stop it. It's fine, think about it later.

"Well, at least this way it's easier for us to get to the back stage to see who took the antique, I didn't think I'd have to spend money though."

The white haired male gave me a side look, but I was too busy being a stressed man child over the amount of money spent on that potion. Ah whatever whatever, let's just not let anyone die. I don't want the thoughts messing with my mind.

We were then led to the backroom, where all the goods were stored, and it was clearly well protected.

"Go get whatever you bought, then come meet back here. I'll keep an eye on that noble.. What was the mask color?"

I nudged the other on the side, before making a small point towards the gold masked man, then heading towards the seller that was holding the potion. Beom had already given me the coins before hand.

"Hello sir, please make sure to have the coins in a bag. It's easier for us."

Good thing this was a game, it would be a struggle to physically have all of this gold coins. Even though the money bag seemed small, there was for sure 50K gold coins in there, the game was just able to minimize it for easier use.

Once I gave the coins, the auction man gave me the bottle, then bowed to thank me, as I did the same before walking away, putting it in my inventory quickly. I could feel some eyes on me now that I had that "OP" potion, and I just pulled my head further down to hide my face more clearly, before I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Beom?"

Oh it surely wasn't Beom. This person had a smaller build, and they also had a hood on, so I couldn't see their face nor their username properly.

"Can I,, help you?"

I asked before I was suddenly pulled away, away from most people's gazes.

"I'll give you your coins back if you give me the potion."

A gently yet also demanding voice came out from the hooded person, but I shook my head, this person must think the potion is real and will give you these amazing boosts, but im 90 percent sure it's the potion that could kill someone.

"Sorry, no matter how much money you'll give me, I won't give it to you."

I moved back a bit, but the person just grabbed my wrist, their hood moving slightly to the point I caught a glimpse of their face, most specifically their right cheek that had a triangular tattoo, then in the middle was another triangle but it was colored in with purple, and a fancy looking R right in the middle.

"That potion isn't for you, there isn't anything bad you've done at least."

I was confused, and slightly scared to be honest, but she suddenly moved away and ran off just as Beom grabbed my shoulder making me jump a bit.

"What are you doing? Let's go before that noble runs off."

I looked at him still in a bit of a shock and confusion of what happened, but I just quickly followed along without looking back.

What I never knew was, being of my level 40 stats, I could easily climb up buildings and caught up to the clearly higher leveled male in front of me, though he did have to slow down a lot and wait for me.

"Seriously, you're so slow. Anyways, that's where he's going, we need to get to his cart before he turns to the crowded street. Make sure your face is covered."

Now it was time for me to be truly a thief, I never thought I'd do something like this, and even though I knew it was a game, it still felt wrong since it was so life like.

"Lets go."

The man whispered before jumping off to where he kicked the coachman off the ground to stop the horses from continuing. I jumped down as well, opening the door as the noble man tried to scream before I stuffed a nearby pillow into his mouth.

"Shit where did you put it?"

I grumbled as I looked inside of the cart before actually going inside of the cart to look for the antique.

"Where is it?"

I glared down at the man who was scared out of his pants. I didn't notice how scary I was acting because my mind was filled with thinking about the potion, especially there was someone who seemed to know the truth about it, or maybe it was just a confusion?

"Hurry up!"

The white haired man shouted from outside. I looked down at the man and he quickly pointed under the seat, and once I checked, there it was, the antique for the quest. I grabbed it quickly then hopped out.

"Lets go."

We both nodded before running off, the man finally screaming "thieves!" in the background. It was kind of scary how natural my body reacted, but again it was just due to the stats of my character, but I knew in real life I wouldn't be able to do this.

"Okay take off your hood, we're going into the main street."

I followed along and quickly took off my coat and putting it away. I also gave the quest item to the white haired man. We blended in with the amount of people walking around, guards looking around for anyone suspicious, and it was a good call to take off the hoods to blend in easier.

Then the main thing I had to do came back to my head. I didn't want to go out late but I didn't want to risk postponing the info I found out, I had to go tell the detective.

"You can finish the rest right?"

I asked as the other just kind of nodded.

"Wait I didn't even get to see your skill-"

I cut him off with a hand, opening the settings window to log out.

"I have to go, next time I promise."

I logged out before He could even say anything. I looked at the time, it was around 10pm. I just hopped the detective was still working. I just put on some black sweatpants, then a jacket and rushed out of the house with my wallet. I wanted to tell this quickly, I didn't like the feeling of being the only one who knew this info could be the reason of someone's death.

To be continued..
