Why Are You Here?
When Lana heard his voice again she couldn't but think of everything he told her that night.
'Cmon Lana get yourself together. You knew you had to face him some time' Lana encouraged her self to just turn around and face the one person she hates the most. "It haven't been long enough for me." Lana turned around to face Yifeng, her expression was full of hate. She crossed her arms glaring at him, if her looks could kill he would've been dead 7 years ago.
"Cmon don't say it like that. I've really missed." Yifeng started to take steps closer to Lana. "I don't care if you missed me or not I never want to see you again! I don't want you to say my name again!" Tears started to form in Lana's eyes because she was overwhelmed with emotions. "How did you even get my phone number?! How do you even know where I live?!"
"I asked Meilin. After you left from the reunion in a hurry I was worried about you so I wanted to see if you were okay." Yifeng had an emotionless expression, Lana didn't know how to read him. "Well if you want to know if I'm okay, I'm fine I'm great at. I will be even happier when I don't get to see you again so leave me alone." Lana turned around and walked back in her apartment building without letting Yifeng say anything else.
Lana road the elevator to her floor and went back inside her apartment. To take her mind off what just happened a few minutes ago she decided to start making her dinner. She made some fried rice with teriyaki salmon. After she finished her dinner she put some leftovers in fridge and some in a tray to take with her for lunch tomorrow for her first day at her new job.
After she made her lunch she went in her bedroom and before she went to sleep she got on WeChat and texted her best friend.
'Meilin are you up?' It was a few minutes before Meilin replies back.
[Yea what's up?]
'Why did you give Yifeng my phone number and address?!'
[Well... did you ever think that because you've never dated after Yifeng was because you still love him?]
'That's not the point if I still love him or not. You of all people know that I hate him. But you didn't answer my question, why did you give him my address and phone number?'
[Because he asked for it. After he left he came to me and asked for it. He sounded genuinely worried for you because you left so suddenly.]
Lana didn't know how to respond because she knew Meilin in some way she knew she was telling the truth.
'Ok well goodnight Meilin.'
[Goodnight Lana.]
Lana turned off her phone and tried to go to sleep but all she could think of was what Meilin said. 'Was he really worried about me?' She keep thinking of that the whole time until sleep claimed her.
When Lana woke up that morning she forgot about about everything that happened the night before and did her morning routine. She didn't need to put on any make up because she didn't like the way it felt on her skin. She then put on a white blouse with a black pencil skirt which showed off her curves in all the right places. She put on 3" black heels. She was already tall so she didn't wear any heels higher than that.
She grabbed her jacket and purse and since it was her first day and she didn't want to be late she didn't eat breakfast. She took an apple and walked through the door. When she got downstairs of her apartment building she hailed a cab and went to her new job.
When she arrived at her new job she was in awe at how big it was. She didn't know a lot about L&J Corps. but that's they just started and was already dominating the business world. When she walked in the lobby she started walking towards the receptionist table to ask for directions to HR Department. After she found out which floor was she went to the HR Manager to see where she was working. "Hi my names Huang Lana today's my first day I've come to see where I'll be working."
"Hello Mrs.Huang if you'll follow me I'll show where you'll be working." Lana gave the HR Manager a smile then followed her towards the elevators.
"Mrs.Huang here's your work I.D. you will be needing this to use the private elevator." Lana was confused of why she would need to use the private elevator and not the regular one for employees. "Umm... I'm sorry why would I need to use the private elevator?" The HR Manager looked at Lana with no expression, "You'll need it because you will be working with our new CEO as his assistant." Lana was quite surprised because when she applied for the assistant job here she thought it would be with a smaller person in the company. "Oh ok I just thought I would be working under a Marketing Manager that's all." The HR Manager gave her a smile then walked out the elevator to the top floor.
"This is your office area. You will report here to do your work. And these doors leads to the CEO's office. You have a intercom in your room so if the CEO needs you he will contact you through it. So I hope you have a good time here at L&J Corps. I'll leave you to get started."
"Thank you I will." Lana gave the HR Manager a smile then walked inside her office to get settled. She was sitting in quiet until her she got startled by the intercom, "Come to my office please". When Lana heard the voice it sounded familiar but she didn't want to dwell on it. She also didn't want to upset her boss on the first day. "Right away sir." Lana walked out off her office she went towards the double doors and knocked, "Come in." She opened the door, "You wanted to see m-" she froze and everything she wanted to say got stuck in her throat at that exact moment. "Why are you here? Can't you understand what I meant about leaving me alone!"
Lu Yifeng got up out of his seat and started taking steps towards Lana, "I'm here because I'm your boss the CEO to be exact." Yifeng crossed his arms and gave her a sinister smile.
