CHAPTER 62

Y/N'S POV

I sat at the end of the class next to Wednesday, after our shocking presentation, I was hoping that no one would bother us for the rest of the school term. Either way, dreams rarely come true, and much less if your last name is Addams. It seemed that drama and tragedy followed us wherever we went, and it is that at recess time we met an old "friend".

-Wednesday: Wow, it seems that the promise you made is no longer valid - she commented sarcastically while crossing her arms.

It couldn't be happening, I put my hands to my head when in the distance I found Brooke in the crowd. There were fifty states he could have gone to live in! Did she have to choose New Jersey exactly? !! We had made a promise that I would save her dad and in return, she would disappear forever from our lives. Why did I have to have her at the same high school as me? !!

- Wednesday: Aren't you going to go say hello?

-Y/N: - I glared at her - You know if I'm going to say hello, I won't be able to control myself.

-Wednesday: You have to learn to cope, let's get closer - she pulled me and made me walk towards Brooke - This will be a litmus test, let's see if you are able to keep your inner fox hidden.

We crossed the entire basketball court dodging the occasional turnover, and then we reached the stands where Brooke was having lunch with two other girls. Wenny had forced me to get close to her to test my self-control, but the truth was that I didn't feel like anything beyond pulling out my claws and releasing all the rage inside. Instead, I took a deep breath and faked a smile.

-Y/N: Brooke - I caught her attention - I'm surprised to see you here - I made a gesture with the look that hinted at my anger.

- Brooke: Y-Y/N? !! - she stammered - What are you doing here? - she looked at Wednesday - W-When did you come?

-Wednesday: We have changed schools to be closer to family - she lied - What a coincidence that we have coincided again. How about Mr. Duncan?

- Girl 1: Do you know them? - she looked at us confused - They are new in Sadie's class, and from what she has told us... They are quite peculiar.

-Y/N: You fall short, blondie - I said dryly and cleared my throat - But hey, we just wanted to say hello to our old friend - I pressed my hand on Brooke's shoulder - I hope we see each other more often.

-Girl 1: In that case, you should stay - she commented.

-Brooke: U-Uhm, I dunno, Y/N and Wednesday must be really busy - she said nervously - It's their first day and they'll have a lot of things to do.

-Wednesday: - I looked at her in a panic because I didn't want to stay there - Okay, let's eat lunch together - she sat next to the blonde - I'm Wednesday Addams, and this is my cousin Y/N Addams.

-Girl 1: My pleasure, I'm Maddie Ziegler - she smiled - I'm in the same class as Brooke.

-Wednesday: I see - she stared at me - What are you waiting for to sit down? Let's have lunch at once, I don't want to have to put up with your complaining about how hungry you are after.

It was really hard for me to endure the moment of recess, I kept tense during the whole time and I didn't really enjoy lunch. My teeth were chattering against each other while I made a great effort to control my fangs, Wednesday didn't understand what it felt like to make me be with a traitor like Brooke. I didn't act well with her either, I was aware. But the debt was paid off after saving her father... Why did I have to put up with it and act like nothing happened between us?

-Wednesday: You've coped with it pretty well - she looked at me seriously - If you endure your urge to transform and use your abilities being with Brooke, you'll learn to control it with the rest of the people in this damn place - she crossed her arms - Personally, I don't like hanging out with people more bipolar than magnets either, but Brooke is a perfect training tool right now.

-Y/N: I don't care about Brooke at all. Do you know what I think about when I'm around her? - my cousin stared at me - At how disappointed Enid would be to see me next to her. She betrayed us! Because of her we were both injured, I can't stand by her side pretending that nothing has happened.

-Wednesday: First of all, Enid is not here and she doesn't have to find out. And secondly, you just have to deal with her presence, I'm not asking you to become her close friend. That's what the blonde one and the other one are for... What was her name?

-Y/N: What was the name of who?

-Wednesday: Maddie said that her best friend comes to our class and she said that we are peculiar. What was her name?

- Y/N: Sadie? - I said without giving it importance.

It was just as I pronounced that name that a red-haired girl turned and stopped in front of the two of us. Both Wednesday and I were left with a poker face waiting for whatever that stranger was going to tell us.

-Girl 2: That's me, Sadie Sink - she extended her hand towards me - What's up? Do you like the high school?

- Wednesday: Are you the one who goes around saying that we are peculiar? - she raised an eyebrow.

- Sadie: Yes? Yes, it was me - she said confidently - But it's not that I go around saying it, I've only told my friends. Brooke and Maddie, they're the ones over there who are-

-Y/N: We know them - I cut her off - Especially Brooke, she used to go to our old school.

- Sadie: Great! That way you'll feel less strange - she tapped me on the shoulder and I stared at her for a few moments - Is everything okay? I see that you are serious people - she tried to joke laughing nervously - Anyway, I should go - she went towards the other two.

-Wednesday: You pulled out the claws when she tapped you - she commented - You failed.

-Y/N: It's not my fault that these people don't know how to respect personal space - I complained - Besides, no one has noticed.

-Wednesday: Your hand has started bleeding because you have closed it in a fist you have stuck them to yourself - she looked me in the eyes - The smell of blood is easily distinguished for someone like me, you have not gone as unnoticed as you thought. We have a lot of work to do to keep your identity hidden.

-Y/N: - I nodded - Do you think Brooke will talk and reveal everything?

-Wednesday: I don't know, teenagers usually have a hard time keeping secrets - she frowned as she looked at Brooke - Especially between friends.

-Y/N: What do you propose? - I said crossing my arms.

-Wednesday: We'll have to learn to socialize I guess - she sighed - You know the saying... "Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer" - she grimaced annoyingly - So we will have to get along with Brooke and her little friends.

-Y/N: Oh great, sounds like we're going to have fun - I rolled my eyes annoyed - I hate this place - I said leaving towards our class.
