CHAPTER 61

Y/N'S POV

I finished unpacking my bags and went for a walk through the mansion, it had been too long since I was last there. I went through each and every corner where I used to wander as a child until I reached the small pond in our back garden. There we raised piranhas and other kinds of fish that my cousin liked. I stayed by the pond for a while until I noticed something strange in my reflection.

Just like it had happened to me in the Nevermore bathroom, I had the feeling that there was someone else behind me. I looked at my reflection in the water again and I couldn't see anyone else, besides a piranha jumped out of the water and almost reached my face. I stepped back confused and stood for a few moments reflecting on what had just happened. Would I be going crazy? Maybe they were just my imaginations or sequels of having gone through so much in such a short time, I just hoped that I would come to my senses soon because I didn't want to end up in a psychologist like Wenny.

- Pugsley: Y/N! - he shouted as he ran in my direction - What are you doing here?

-Y/N: Nothing, I was walking to kill time. Why?

- Pugsley. Uncle Fester is back from his last adventure, he says he wants to see you - he smiled.

-Y/N: - I nodded - Let's go.

I followed my cousin until I reached the main living room where my father was talking to Uncle Gomez, how quickly we were going to start with the family gatherings. I wasn't mentally prepared to face it, I honestly would have preferred to go out there and get lost rather than pretend to be an ordinary family. I sat down on the sofa opposite my father and waited patiently for him to address me.

-Fester: Y/N - he smiled - How have you been? I've been told that you've had some problems at the academy, but seeing that you're here present... I guess you've been able to tap into the potential I mentioned the last time we met.

-Y/N: Not at all, I can't use electricity - I was silent for a few seconds - Once it did work, it was when I was looking at myself in the mirror. And the only thing I managed was to self-electrocute slightly, so it doesn't count as having mastered it.

- Fester: And the fire? Have you learned your mother's skills?

-Y/N: I'm too young to have the same skills as her - I smiled burlesquely - However, I've turned out to be much smarter and I've gotten rid of the threat she posed.

-Fester: That's my daughter - he said proudly - Although it's a pity that you have to stay in New Jersey now, it's going to be a little more difficult for you to practice your skills here - he looked at Morticia - You know that I have to travel and that you'll be in their care, don't give them too much trouble and behave yourself.

-Y/N: Are you really going to try to act like my dad at this point? I know you're trying to redeem yourself, but I don't think being a father means saying "behave yourself" and taking the job for granted - I got up from the sofa - Anyway, I promise in front of everyone to try not to reveal my true nature under any circumstances - I faked a smile - And now, if you don't need anything more from me, I'll go for a walk. I need to learn where the important sites are in this city.

- Pugsley: Like the mall?

-Y/N: I was referring to the cemetery and stuff, but hey, maybe knowing where the mall is also helps - I shrugged.

I spent the whole afternoon and the next few days wandering around New Jersey trying to get acquainted with the surroundings. The truth is that I was struggling, most of my life had been spent in the forest. So making me adapt to city life as a "normie" was not going to be as easy as fighting hydes. I forced my cousin to act as my guide and used him to distract me until the first day of school arrived.

- Gómez: Are you ready for your first day? - he smiled - Sometimes it's hard to be "the new one", but I don't think anyone will dare to bother you.

-Wednesday: If anyone dares to do it, I will make Y/N slit his throat with her claws - she said without facial expression - Shall we go in?

-Y/N: - I swallowed thick - There are too many people in this place. Why is everyone so unruly?

-Wednesday: They are hormonal teenagers - she smiled slightly - Look, you already have something in common - she said sarcastically earning a tap on the shoulder from me - Ignore them, they don't deserve our attention.

I nodded and started walking behind her, at that moment I wished to be with Enid above all things. Surely she would have no problems socializing and would know how to help me to keep my animal instinct at bay. But the world wasn't perfect and I was walking through the front door next to Wenny. I wish I could be as impassive as she is. Several teenagers were running through the hallways, some were bumping into us, some were talking too loudly, some reeked of perfume, some others of sweat... How could I survive in that hell alive? !!

-Y/N: - I growled when one crashed into me throwing my backpack on the ground - I'm going to-

- Wednesday: Ah, ah, ah... - she held my arm - No snarling or attacking people, we are just "normies" here.

-Y/N: It's funny that you say that when you're still wearing the same old clothes, the "normies" go beyond black. You know?

- Wednesday: So what? Some of them have good taste and dress in black - she pointed to a small group gathered in a corner of the corridors.

-Y/N: They're being marginalized, Wenny - I shook my head - Do we really have to mix with this bunch of shallow people?

-Wednesday: Yes, we have no choice - she looked at me seriously - And for our safety, you better not reveal anything about the Nevermore students. We don't know where else there might be hunters.

-Y/N: - I nodded - I got it, don't worry - I sighed - I will put up with these assholes and their stench until we can return to Jericho.

-Wednesday: Good - she softened her gaze - Enid would be proud of you.

That comment seemed to me the kindest I had ever received from my relative, so instantly my mood improved. I followed her through the corridors and was able to keep calm without attacking any of those who crossed our path. Until then, we arrived to what would be our class for an indefinite time. The teacher made a short introduction drawing the attention of our classmates and then it was our turn to introduce ourselves.

- Wednesday: My name is Wednesday Addams - she glared at everyone - Yes, like the day of the week. I will not accept giggles and teasing about it, because if you dare to do it... Know that I always carry with me a rope, a shovel, and an amazing ability to cover up crimes.

- Teacher: Okay... Thanks for the introduction - she smiled uncomfortably and looked at me - And you, dear?

-Y/N: - I grimaced in disgust - I'm Y/N Addams, just like my cousin... I don't advise you to get too involved with me because I can become quite foxy - I received an elbow from Wenny - It's reality - I smirked.

-Teacher: Take a seat, please - she hurried to start the class.
