A sudden footsteps can be heard coming towards a certain room where a middle age man who look like a scholar and two children was in.

The two children was a boy and a girl that seems to be around 5 to 6 years old. The boy was unconscious and was lying on a wooden chair while the girl stand on his side trying her best not to cry.

*Knock*

*knock*

*Knock*

" Prime Minister, I have message from the king. Can I come inside ? " A male voice came from the other side of the door.

The middle age man or should I say, the Prime Minister inside the room look towards the door and said sternly : " You may enter. "

* Creak *

* Clank *

The door opened and a man clad in golden armor went inside and kneeled down in one knee in front of the Prime Minister.

His armor was covered in blood and there was a visible deep wounds all over his body. If a normal person will receive these kind of wounds, they should have died a long time ago.

" No need for formalities Arthur. Tell me how it was outside? How was the king? " Leonard said.

The soldier stood up when he heard that and look directly at the Prime Minister.

This man was Arthur Freed, the head of the knights protecting the royal family. In normal times, his position was below the Prime Minister Leonard. That's the reason why he kneeled down and greet him after he entered the room.

" Prime Minister Leonard. The Eldest Prince's army have broken through our last defense and was now heading towards this castle. The king was still fine and sent me here to give you his last order! "

" What?! What does he plan to do there? Does he plan to sacrifice himself? I want to see the king! " Leonard said as he was about to go out of the room.

But before he can take another step, the head of the knights, Arthur stopped him and said: " Prime Minister Leonard. This is the King's decree. Bring Prince Leon with you along with your daughter and get away from this country immediately as soon as you received this decree! "

Prime Minister Leonard frowned when he heard that. It seems like the situation outside has become more chaotic now and the king was doing his best to hold back the enemies to give them time to escape.

Leonard fell silent for awhile before he look at Arthur directly in his eyes before he said seriously in a deep tone: " You make sure to protect the King. If it's needed, I'm ordering you to make him unconscious and dragged him away from here. We will leave now! "

" I promised! " Arthur replied seriously before he turned around and left.

" I hope you'll be fine my old friend. " Leonard murmured before he reached out his hand and grabbed a brick from the wall. Right after he did that, a hidden passage suddenly appeared in front of them.

Leonard then picked up the boy lying on the wooden chair before he look at his daughter and said: " Let's go Rose, we need to leave. "

Rose look at her father and nodded before following behind him.

The three of them then entered the hidden passage and vanished from the dark.

A few minutes after they entered the hidden passage, the entrance of the passage along with the room they were in just awhile ago collapsed completely.

10 years later...

Kingdom of Ander, City of Baslin, Red leaf town.

A teenage girl wearing a shabby clothing was shouting around the fields outside the town. She seems to be looking for someone and calling out his name.

" Leon! Where are you! I brought some soup back. Let's go home and eat. " The girl shouted as loud as she can as she tried to wipe the sweat in her face.

The girl's face has plenty of dirt in it and her hair was messy. Her skin was tanned and has a foul smell around her that will make someone stay away from her.

But despite her dirty and ugly appearance , her deep black eyes was as dreamy as a starry night giving a pleasing feeling to anyone who will look at them.

" Why are you shouting like crazy huh, Rose? You're so annoying! I can go home on my own! "

A sudden voice came from the girl's left side above the tree. A male youth around 15 to 16 years old jumped down and started walking away from the girl ignoring her completely.

" Wait for me Leon. " The girl said as she immediately followed him from behind.

Inside the shabby house. -

Leon opened the lead covering the dish in the small table and he frowned.

" What is this? Is this the food you are talking about? You call this food?! "

" I.. I'm sorry Leon but that's the only food I managed to get. I haven't received my payment from the street shop I'm working yet. So please eat this for now okay? Leon? " Rose replied as she went near him.

" Stay away from me! I don't want to eat this food and I'll never eat them! You can eat them if you want! You stink! " The young man, Leon said before he went inside his room.

" Leon..." Rose called out but the young man ignored her.

Tears started to flow from Rose's eyes. She was obviously hurt by his words. She has done her best to serve Leon because that's what her father told her before he passed away 3 years ago because of sickness.

Since then, Rose has been the one doing all the job she can get just to earn a little amount of money to buy food for Leon.

Begging, sweeping streets, removing snows from the roofs of their neighbors during winter, etc. Rose has tried all of them!

Even if it's very hard for her, she persevered because she didn't want to disappoint her deceased father.

Wiping her tears away and trying to forget what insulting words she just heard from him, Rose picked up the lid on the floor and once again covered the food in the table.

Despite also being hungry herself, Rose didn't eat the food but save it for Leon. Instead, she picked up an empty barrel and went outside to get water from the brook nearby.

The next day.

6 am in the morning.

Inside the room, Leon was still sleeping peacefully in his bed.

Suddenly, a sliver of light passed through the roof and hit his forehead.

Leon's sleeping face twisted and contorted as he frowned deeply like as if he was suffering from a severe pain.

" Aaarrgggg! " He shouted on top of his lungs and got up from his bed. He then opened his eyes and look around the place confusedly.

" Where's this place? "

* Bang! *

The wooden door suddenly opened and a young woman entered the room and immediately look for Leon wanting to know if he's fine. And after she saw that he was sitting on his bed, she was about to go near him to asked what happened and if he's fine but stopped her step.

She remembered what he said yesterday about her smelling bad so she just stayed in a distance and asked: " What happened Leon? Are you fine? "

A genuine worried expression can be seen in her eyes.

At last, I finally..... died.

Despite doing everything we can, humanity still lost huh.

Well, it's not like I still have something to loose anyway. Aside from regrets, I have nothing more. How long has it been since the last time I felt alive? Thousand years ago? Ten thousand years ago? I.... can't remember anymore.

* sigh *

So what if I am powerful? Didn't I still died in the end?

So what if I'm the leader of humanity? It can't fixed the mistakes I did in the past!

So what if I killed millions of those demons? Their bloods can't wash away the guilt inside my heart!

If there's a next life, I hope I won't have any regrets anymore.

I hope I can see her once more.

I hope I can apologize for what I have done to her.

If that will happen, I'm willing to do everything I can to take care of her.

Rose... I'll see you soon...

That's my last thoughts before everything went black in front of me.

All of my senses dulled before vanishing completely.

I don't know how long it took but suddenly, in a distant, I saw a light coming towards me.

It was so fast that in just a blink of an eye, it was now in front of me before it completely enveloped me!

I felt extreme comfort inside that light like every negative emotions I have been taken away from me! Like a pair of very warm arms was embracing me.

There's even a moment I wished that this will remain forever!

But suddenly, the light vanished and I instead started to feel pain in my head. As an experienced soldier, this level of pain was nothing to me. But that wasn't the problem!

What makes it feel unbearable for me was the sudden memory from my past once again started resurfacing! All of the memories I tried to forget had once again appeared in my mind!

" Aaaargggggg!!! "

I shouted in agony. I unconsciously got up and opened my eyes but surprisingly, it worked!

My senses, my eyesight , although they are not as good as before, they are back! I can now once again see and feel my surroundings!

I saw an unfamiliar place and walls in front of me. I look around and it seems like I am inside a dilapidated small house.

The roofs has holes in it. The walls are made out of rotten wood. The floor wasn't stone but earth! I look at my clothes and although it's not bad, the color has long faded.

' Where am I? ' I asked myself as I look around the room curiously when suddenly...

* Bang! *

The wooden door at the side suddenly opened and I saw a young woman entered the room.

She immediately look at me as if wanting to know if I'm fine.

And after she saw me sitting on this bed without any visible problems, I heard her sighed in relief and was about to go near me but suddenly stopped her footsteps.

I have no idea why she did that. I took another glance at her but when I did, I saw here face clearly and was stunned completely.

All of the energy inside my body was as if has been sucked out completely and I almost fell on the floor.

That face....how can it be?

Is that heavens playing with me?

Just how many times had I wish to see that Dirty, Messy and covered with dust face again in my whole life?!

Thousand times?

Ten thousand times?

A million times?!

NO! AN UNCOUNTABLE TIMES!!

Happiness began filling me up and my body was once again full of energy!

I immediately stood up and get of the bed before coming towards her. Excitement , longing, embarrassment guilt....

Too many emotions wanted to burst out inside me.

I reached out both of my hands and held her small face.

" Ro.... Rose.. you... you're Rose right? "

That's the only words came out from my mouth at that moment.

" Rose... Rose... Rose!! " I said before I hugged her so tight.

Good thing that my previous cultivation was gone now or else, I might have hurt her or worst, killed her because of my excitement.

I can feel her body trembling but I don't understand why.

Then I remembered everything I did to her in the past. What I called her. What she did for me. What she sacrificed for me!

Remembering all of this, I released her and I kneeled down in front of her.

*Bang! *

And with full force, I hit my head in the floor, kowtowed and said: " Rose.... I...I'm sorry for everything I had done to you! I'm sorry for everything! I'm so.... sorry.. "

I said as I continue to hit my head on the floor and cried.

I don't care what ever happened to me.

I didn't stop even after the skin in my forehead get wounded and blood started to come out of it.

Compared to the things I owed her, I don't even care if I died here once again.

I don't care if it's all a dream. I don't care if I'm still dead after this. I'm still satisfied!

If only I can hear her words again before I left..

My heartbeat can't help but increased rapidly when suddenly , I felt two warm hands wrapped around my head and hugged me tightly.

This hug made realized something I can't afford to make myself believe.

This hug filled my heart with hope once again.

This hug gives me an unending amount of will to live!

Just for this hug, I felt satisfied.
