Chapter 3 : Cooking.

What happened next was magical.

The columns of trees around him started to fade before vanishing completely and a large area of grasslands appeared instead.

Different kinds of animals was playing and eating around the grass areas peacefully.

Leon look at the farthest distance his vision can reach but he wasn't able to see the end of this grassland.

Even the small pond beside him turned into a very deep pool of water. Leon didn't have time to figure out how deep this pool was so he set it aside for now.

He then look at his left side and saw a small wooden house made out of a obsidian black wood.

Leon can't help but be surprised be surprised after seeing this place.

Inscription Array!

The whole area of Dust Forest was actually covered by innumerable numbers of inscription patterns that combined into a huge Inscription Array!

Leon can't help but wonder how an inscription array as advance as this one was laid down here.

" So it's like this. "

Leon said as he took another glance at the Jade tile in his hand and smiled. He finally understand how this place works.

Although Leon wanted to study this place even further, he didn't have time because Rose might go back home at 5 pm and he only had more than an hour left so instead of studying the place, he started to walk towards the animals in the grasslands instead.

For some unknown reasons, all of the animals here are all vegetarians like wild boars, rabbits, sheeps and even a few cows.

There's also birds like chickens and turkeys scratching around eating grass and insects.

In Leon's estimate, there's approximately a thousand animals in front of him. Most of them are chickens and rabbits. But that's only what he can see in front of him!

This place was so big and Leon didn't know what kind of animals and how many of them are living in other areas of this forest.

The animals seems to not fear him at all when Leon get near them. They just took a single glance at him before they continued to do what they are doing and didn't pay anymore attention to him.

Leon believes that it is also one of the functions of the inscription patterns scattered around the area making the animals relax and docile.

Dare to ignore me? I'll eat you then!

Leon didn't waste any more time and immediately grabbed a rabbit and a chicken before he deactivated the Jade tile in his hand.

The surroundings once again change and columns of trees appeared around him once again. The vast grasslands and animals in front of him also disappeared but the two animals was still in his hands.

Leon put the Jade tile in his pocket before he turned around and left the place.

Leon stunned the two animals in his hand so they will be easier to carry. And with a rabbit and a chicken in both of his hands, Leon started running back home. After more than an hour, he was back.

Leon immediately went inside the house to see if Rose was back but she wasn't there yet. This event was normal though because the place the Rose was working in was a street food cart that sells grilled meat.

The pay there was low and the working hours was long but Rose was willing to do it because she didn't have a choice. She still need to feed the 'useless' Leon before after all.

' Perhaps she's still on her way here. ' he thought.

Leon then went to the kitchen and took a knife before he brought the chicken and rabbit outside the house to clean them.

He first took out the knife and inspected it trying to figure out if it was sharp enough and it is indeed sharp.

Maybe it's because the two of them rarely cooks before so this knife wasn't being use often. It's not because they don't like cooking, it's just that, they didn't have anything to cook!

Leon first get a rope and tied the feet of both the unconscious chicken and rabbit before hanging them upside down under the tree.

And with a fast hand movements, Leon cut their throats and let them bleed there. The cut was precise. Not too shallow or too deep making it easier for the blood to flow out.

Leon then once again went inside the house to get a huge pot and firewood before once again going outside. He will use them to boil water for the chicken.

Leon then picked up three similar size rock and place it in a triangle position and put some firewood in the middle of them. He put the pot on top of those rock and filled it up with water.

" What are you doing Leon? "

When Leon was about to lit up the firewood, Rose voice suddenly came from behind. It seems like she has comeback without him noticing.

Don't get it wrong, with Leon's strong senses, he will definitely know it if there was another person got near him even if that person was still 20 meters away from him.

But Rose was different because Leon's guard was all lowered down completely in front of this girl.

Leon turned around and it was indeed Rose. She was carrying a small wooden box with her. It seems like whatever was inside that small wooden box will be their dinner for tonight.

"Oh. You're back Rose. I'm preparing our dinner for tonight. Just sat at that log over there and take a rest. I'll be done soon. "

Rose became confused so she asked: " Our dinner? But I already brought our dinner? And what are you trying to cook? "

" Those guys over there. "

Leon replied as he pointed his forefinger at the two animals hanging under the tree beside their house.

Rose look at the direction Leon was pointing and saw a rabbit and a chicken hanging there. Surprise expression was visible in her face. She didn't know how Leon was able to get his hands with those two animals.

" Those are.... rabbit and chicken? Where did you get them Leon? "

" Oh, I captured them this afternoon when I went to the nearby forest. And there still plenty of them there. "

" Nearby forest? But the only forest near here was the Dust forest. Are you saying that you got them there Leon? "

" Yes that's right. I indeed got them from the Dust fore-...wait, Rose, why are you crying? " Leon asked in confusion because Rose just so suddenly started crying.

* Sniff *

" You.. Leon, why are you still lying to me? I thought you said this morning that we will get along right? "

" Lying? When did I lied to you? "

" Just now. "

" Now? "

" Yes. You *sniff* said that you get those two animals inside the Dust forest right? "

" Yes. I did say that. "

" See? Everyone knows that the Dust forest was barren with any insects or animals so how can you get them there? " Rose explained as she tried her best not to cry any further.

Leon finally understood what she meant. But.. he really did not lie to her right? He really did get those two animals inside the Dust forest!

Leon walks towards Rose and stopped in front of her. He then held both of her hands and look at her eyes directly before saying: " Rose, I'm not lying to you. I really did get them from the Dust forest. I can even bring you there tomorrow if you want. I'm telling you, there's still plenty of them there. "

Rose just look at him and didn't answer immediately. It seems like she was trying to find out if Leon was lying to her or was telling the truth.

" Really? You are not lying to me? "

" Of course! Why would I lie to my beautiful Rose? Isn't that the same as going against the heavens? "

* giggles *

Rose giggled charmingly when she heard him said that.

" Who.. who's yours? I.. don't know what you are talking about. Rose said as she smiled at him and tried to deny his words. She look at the pot of water and said: " Alright, I'll believe you for now but you promise to bring me there tomorrow okay? Let me help you make fire. " She said.

" No problem. I'll bring you there tomorrow. Here's the flint and iron. I'll go and clean the rabbit first. " Leon replied as he give the iron and flint to Rose before he went to clean the rabbit.

" Okay. I can do this. " Rose replied.

Leon then went back under the tree and began cleaning the rabbit. With a few fast strokes of his knife, Leon expertly removed the skin and the guts of the rabbit. Since the blood has already been drained, the rabbit's meat wasn't bloody.

After that, Leon then removed the meaty parts of the rabbit and set it aside. Since they didn't have any ingredients available aside from salt, they can only grill it later.

It only took 3 minutes for Leon cleaning and chopping the rabbit. He look at the place where Rose was lighting up the firewood and saw that she just finished doing it and was now sitting at the side so he also went there and sat beside her.

" Here's the rabbit meat Rose. What do you think we should do with this? "

" You're done already? That was fast. Let me see, we can boil it in salt I think. "

" Boiled rabbits huh. Okay, let's do that then. But how about the chicken? Should we also boil them? "

" I don't know but.. "

" But what? "

" I... want it grilled. "

" Oh. Since you like it grilled, then let's grill it! " Leon quickly replied.

As a string expert in his past life, Leon has already tasted almost everything so he didn't have any preference to food now. That's why he let Rose decide whatever way she wanted to cook these meat.

" Why are you letting me decide how to cook it Leon? Do you not have any preference? " Rose asked in confusion.

" I have. "

" What do you like then? "

" I like.. you Rose. "

" Wh....what?! M....me?!! I...I... am not a dish! Hmmp! "

Rose face flushed red after she said that.

' What was he thinking? ' She thought. Then she remembered how Leon kissed her passionately this morning and her face turned even redder.

" Hehehe. Look at your face Rose. So cute. "

" C.. cute? Me? You're kidding right? "

" No Rose. You are really cute no your beautiful in my eyes right now. I don't know why you are doing that to your face but it doesn't have any effect in me."

Rose's embarrassment vanished when she heard him say that. She smiled wryly at him and said: " fufufu. Can you tell me how and when did you found out? "

" From the start. " Leon replied. He wasn't dumb enough to say that he only noticed it after his transmigration right?

Aside from that thing being moronic, Rose might even think that his changes of the way he treats her was only because of her appearance.

" Fro.... from the start? How? You... you even said that I stink yesterday. " she replied.

" Well, just consider it as me being stupid. And all the bad things I did to you was all because of my stupidity. " Leon replied embarrassly.

He can't change what the previous him did to Rose before so he can only say that it's because of his past self's stupidity.

* giggles *

" Don't call yourself stupid Leon and let's not bring back the past anymore. At least we are okay now right? Oh look, the water is boiling already. I'll go and get the chicken. " Rose said as she immediately run towards the chicken.

Leon just smiled and put more firewood at the fire so it won't extinguish.

The two of them then helped each other to clean the chicken. Rose volunteered herself to remove the feather and the other carcass of the chicken so Leon let her do it. He instead went inside the house to get more firewood and prepare sticks for the grilled chicken.

At around 8 30 pm, Leon and Rose was done cooking. They are now sitting in their chairs around the table. In front of them was a two plates of grilled chicken and boiled rabbit meat.
