Chapter 17 Monsters attack!

Gina tried to feel if there was something strange when she saw Invictus. She tried to investigate. Her intuition seemed to tell her that the figure in front of her was not the Invictus she used to see. However, Gina didn't seem to find anything when she looked closely at Invictus' body.

"You look different," Gina said to Kaley.

Kaley tried to look surprised, "what do you mean?"

However, Gina didn't seem to find any difference that appeared from Kaley who was now in front of her. The real Kaley wasn't actually in Agarte Village anymore, she had already entered the forest, following a mysterious figure who came out of Agarte Village.

"So what do you want, Gina?"

Kaley didn't get an answer. The girl just looked at Kaley, Nagita and after that immediately left by herself.

"Damn it… She's so arrogant. But I have to admit, she does have pretty good intuition. I have to be careful with her."

Kaley who went deeper into the forest finally couldn't find the figure, but instead, he found a lake in the middle of which there was a small land. On the land, there are many fireflies that make the land look very bright.

But since then, Kaley had felt strange. From the time he walked from the south gate until he found the lake, he had not found a single monster.

"What kind of phenomenon is this? Those fireflies, why did they only illuminate the land? Hmm, I guess I should check it out."

Luckily, the lake doesn't have a deep volume of water. When Kaley lowered himself into the water, the water only touched him just below his waist.

When he arrived at the land, Kaley was surprised by something that was there.

"Egg? Why are these fireflies shining on this egg?"

An egg the size of a handful of adults is right on the land. The existence was quite strange, just an egg sitting in a lake with fireflies always surrounding it. Kaley who looked curious finally touched the egg with the index finger of his left.

"Ding…!"

"Genior Eggs respond to your touch"

A gentle touch from Kaley's index finger made the egg move. The move also made Kaley wary. He had already taken out his staff.

"Crack..."

A few seconds later, a crack appeared in the eggshell.

"Shit, it looks like I made a mistake! I shouldn't have touched the egg just out of curiosity."

The shell opened, then a head popped out of it. A pair of eyes looked at Kaley curiously. A moment later, a notification came in.

"Ding..."

"Baby Genior, the red dragon regards you as its mother. Will you adopt it? Y/N?"

Kaley was confused and also surprised to respond to this incident. He hasn't even given any answer to the system yet. He was still stunned by the scene in front of him. A strange monster came out of an eggshell. The monster didn't look like a dragon, more like a small red snake, and had yellow streaks on its body. His eyes are orange and what looks unique, there is a small crown on top of his head.

"Kra..."

The tiny monster also emitted a unique sound that attracted Kaley. Finally because of these feelings he chose to adopt the monster.

"Yes, I will take it"

"Ding..."

"Congratulations, you have received a summoned monster for the second time. However, this monster cannot be used to attack or defend until it is a teenager."

"Baby Genior. Races: Dragons. Rating: Tamed. Rank: Legend & Gentle. Level: 1. Hp: 100. Revolution ability: Yes. Passive skill 1: Genior will still get experience from another summons even if he is not summoned. Passive skill 2: gives debuff burn to the opponent when the owner attacks with offensive active skills"

"Are you going to name Baby Genior?"

"Dragons?! Can I give it a name too? He also has great passive skills which also benefits me. I feel blessed tonight."

This is Kaley's first time. The previous summoned monster could not be given a name or changed name. Kaley thought it was really bothering him.

"Geni is probably the name I will use for this baby dragon"

"Geni added to Baby Genior name"

"Kraa...," replied Geni who seemed to like the name.

Before long, Kaley got a notification from the Doppelganger and also the Giant Boar.

"The attack from the monsters has begun"

"Damn it, I have to go back soon, the Doppelganger can't endure all this alone"

"Dash…"

As he was running towards the village, Kaley saw several monsters running towards the village.

"I'll hold on to it for a while!"

"Roots!"

"Magic Smash!"

The notification reappears.

"Survive from monster waves. There will be three waves that appear. Each wave contains ten monsters. Reward: 500 silver coins. The quest will fail if one monster manages to break through the defense line and also enter the village."

Kaley gritted his teeth.

"Doppelganger, bring the Giant Boar closer to me. We will meet to withstand their attacks first."

However, Kaley didn't hear any response from his Doppelganger or Giant Boar.

"Damn it. Don't tell me they've been defeated!"

Suddenly, not far from him his Doppelganger was in front of his eyes. When the Doppelgangers and Kaley's eyes met, the Doppelganger suddenly disappeared. Not far away when the Giant Boar came towards Kaley, a guard was seen approaching him. Kaley seemed to be wondering what he was doing.

"Why are you here?! Then what about the guard at the gate? Wouldn't that make the defenses riskier?"

The guard answered Kaley's question, "That lady who has the job assassin ordered me here. He said that I should help you on the front lines."

Kaley immediately got a little annoyed at the guard's explanation.

"What does that girl want?! Does she still not believe me?!"

While Kaley was still busy with his own thoughts he suddenly heard the groan of the monsters getting closer.

"It can't be like this! We will be back! We will focus on defending right at the entrance!" Kaley said to himself as well as to the guard.
